Chapter 2: Chapter one

At midnight, Pearl was about getting some beauty sleep after a busy day with the house chores and studying since her parent isn't rich to sponsor her education, she had to study all by herself which of course to her was pretty fun and interesting. She couldn't go to school but she had a laptop to keep her busy which her parents got her on her seventeenth birthday. After an amazing day with her parents, her mother went to the grocery store but Pearl couldn't wait up for her because she was taking longer than she ought to.

Stretching her tired muscles, she laid down on her bed as her eyes closed only for them to be opened due to the noise she heard. She decided to ignore it. Could be a...but the noise grew so intense that she had to stop guessing and actually go see what's going on.

Hurriedly, she left her bed and straight to the living room where she left her dad who was waiting for her mom but the sight she saw was something she never thought she would ever see. Right there, she saw her mom laying lifelessly on the cold ground with her dad beside her, screaming and crying, calling out his wife's name.

What's going on?? she asked herself as she went to meet her dad. Looking at her mom she was severely wounded, there's no way she could have survived it but how come???

"Dad".Pearl called as she saw her dad crying while holding his wife in her arms. "Is mom.....is mom alright??". She asked as her legs became numb and failed her, making her land on her butt. "Is mom...." she paused looking at her lifeless mother. "...is she going to live???".

Her dad slowly shook his head making Pearl release all the tears she held in. "no...mom cannot be dead". Pearl said as she went to meet her mother, touching her mom's face, checking her pulse, her heartbeat but her heart wasn't beating and her body was getting cold.

"sweetheart, please don't leave me". Pearl's father said as he touched his wife's face. "I can't take care of our child all by myself. I need you. We...We need you". He said as Pearl came to hug him.

"What's going to happen now dad?? what are we going to do??" Pearl asked but her dad just shook his head. He had no idea how he would live now without the only woman that made his heart beat like crazy. How is he going to start a life without her in it??? How is he going to take care of their daughter now???

Pearl noticing her dad was thinking wiped her tears and decided to be strong for her dad. Her dad needs her now and she will be there for him even though she doesn't know how.

"We don't have money to give her a befitting burial. Let's go bury her dad". She pleaded with her dad. "I'll go dig up the ground...please be strong enough to do this dad" and with that, she went out of the house, taking a shovel and a spade and went to a remote place where she dug the hole.

Everytime she held back her tears, her heart kept hurting and her stomach too and the tears not failing, kept dropping down her cheeks. "I've got to be strong". she wiped her tears as she went to meet her father.

"It's time dad...we have to do this" she said as her father nodded in agreement.

Her dad was so weak that Pearl had to support him in standing up. Finally they got to the place this time Pearl couldn't hold back her tears. If someone had told her something like this would happen, she would never had believed it. Why do good people always have to die??? why?? was a question she knew she'd never get an answer for.

It was time for them to say the last words and final wishes. Pearl went first because she knew her dad needed time. "Mom.... I don't know if you can hear me but I want you to know that you mean everything...to me....and to dad. How we're going to live our lives without you, it's a question that right now...we do not have an answer for but mom.." she paused as she let the tears rushed down her cheeks. "I love you and I won't give up... I'll be there for dad and for our family. Do rest in perfect peace mom". And with that she gave room for her father to do the talking.

Her father gently put his wife into the grave as he sat beside her. "our daughter has said it all... you'll always be in my heart, in my mind and I'll never forget every... every moment I spent with you". He said looking at his daughter. "I promise to take good care of our daughter". He got up as he poured the sand to cover up her corpse. "Rest in perfect peace Maltida Raymondville".

Pearl came to hug her father as he hugged her back. Looking back at the grave, they knew their lives would never remain the same.
