Profound Heaven Sect, Sect Meeting Hall
After returning the the Sect, Yu Weiyuan immediately conducted a meeting. Because of Yang Shirong's death, a lot of matters awaited debate, thus the young Sect Master had no time to waste.
Around the rectangular table, Yu Weiyuan found the twelve Divine Transformation Elders of the Sect. Among them were the five confidents of his Master: Jia Feng and Song Hui, who had both accompanied him, Elder Wu Kai and Elder Liu Ning who participated in Yang Shirong's assassination with Elder Yan Liqin, who shouted as soon as she arrived:
"Husband!!!" She pounced on Song Hui happily, the fierce expression she bore on her face when killing Yang Shirong having seemingly never existed. "You had me worried sick!"
Even the usually willful Elder Song felt embarassed being hugged by his wife under the judgemental stares of his colleagues. "Wife, We are in the Meeting Hall, let's restrain ourselves."
She reluctantly let go of him, a slight pout on her face. "Hmph! Sect Master grew up under Brother Lu's and our care, I'm sure he would give us face."
Song Hui only responded with a stiff smile as the other Elders chuckled.
Yu Weiyuan smiled slightly. 'I'm glad Uncle and Aunt still get along well.'
Then, as if he had remembered something, he fell into a sorrowful mood. 'Even after the deaths of Master and... No, it is not time for this.'
He shook his head as if to shake away the thoughts, before retrieving his usual clean and exalted temperament, akin to a banished Immortal.
He clapped his hands, gathering the attention of the Elders on him before finally formally beginning the meeting:
"Elders. The recent happenings have been too swift, rising a number of issues we will have to adress."
Yu Weiyuan glanced at an empty seat, that of the late Yang Shirong, and continued.
"Firstly, as most of you should have learned recently, Yang Shirong was a traitor." He glanced at the seven Elders who weren't in the know about his recent revenge plans. After all, he had only used his Master's five confidantes for the clean-up.
One of the seven Elders, Elder Xiang Yaozu of the Internal Affairs Hall, had a hint of dissatisfaction on his face. He and Yang Shirong had been of the same generation. His Hall and Yang Shirong's Law Enforcement Hall had always closely worked together due to their related nature since a long time ago. They had formed a brotherhood ever since they broke through the Golden Core Realm.
"How could Brother Yang be inculpated of such a crime without a trial?" Xiang Yaozu said, a hint of resentment in his gruff voice.
Yu Weiyuan's eyes turned scarlet, as his Killing Intent converged within them, giving them a murderous and malevolent aura. "Brother... Yang?"
His eery tone and ruthless eyes gave Xiang Yaozu goosebumps. 'This kid... Since when has he formed such deep Killing Intent?'
"I will NOT tolerate one of my sect's Elders calling someone who was found guilty of cultivating one of the Myriad Demon Temple core cultivation techniques a brother." Yu Weiyuan said calmly, only amplifying his Killing Intent with his Soul Power.
Xiang Yaozu felt a hint of sweetness within his mouth after his Primordial Spirit was slightly shaken.
A hint of fear crept up within his heart as he realized Yu Weiyuan's power. 'It wasn't just a rumor... this kid... No... The Sect Master has really killed cultivators of the Divine Transformation Realm!'
He withdrew the dissatisfaction on his face, keeping it in his heart, and lowered his head. "Understood."
Hearing the Elder's response, Yu Weiyuan's eyes recovered their golden hue, as if the Killing Intent within them had simply never existed.
Grand Elder Jia Feng sighed in wonder. 'His control over his Killing Intent was already frightening, but ever since his heart sublimated through his vengeance, it reached an even higher realm!'
His eyes even had a hint of admiration in them. 'It's as if Little Wei was born to cultivate the Killing Dao...'
'But I shouldn't say this. After all, he only embarked on this path because of the events in the Dragon Tomb Secret Realm...'
Yu Weiyuan interrupted the Grand Elder's thoughts by continuing the meeting.
"Since Yang Shirong had died, we need to find a replacement for his position." He said clearly. "The Sect cannot work without someone leading the Law Enforcement Hall."
"Perhaps we should dip in the Sect Treasury in order to make one of the Inner Sect Elders of the Law Enforcement Hall break through the Divine Transformation Realm, Sect Master? Inquired the peaceful-looking Elder Liu Ning.
"No." Answered Yu Weiyuan decisively. "The breakthrough will take to much time, and the absence of a Head Elder in the Law Enforcement Hall will disturb some of my plans on the short term."
"Moreover, the next Head Elder can't come from the Law Enforcement Hall. Not enough time has passed since Yang Shirong's death for us to dig up all of his associates."
"One of this next Head Elder's tasks will be to clean up the Law Enforcement Hall."
Grand Elder Jia Feng pointed at a seven feet tall burly man, looking like the physical manifestation of the proverb "a bear's waist and a tiger's back". "How about Elder Xu Shan of the Mountain Titan Pavillion?"
The bear-like Xu Shan in turn pointed at himself dumbfoundedly. "Me?"
Yu Weiyuan then seriously pondered the suggestion.
The Profound Heaven Sect's various departments consisted of the Eight Halls and Four Pavillions.
Each of the Halls' Elders participated in the Sect's daily management while the Pavillions were idle divisions of the Sect of which the only role is to raise disciples.
He couldn't give the position of Head Elder of Law Enforcement Hall to his close allies as each of them already occupied the position of Head Elder of one of the Eight Halls except of the Grand Elder whose role was similar to a Vice Sect Master.
Song Hui was the Head Elder of the Formation Hall, Yan Liqin that of the Alchemy Hall, while Wu Kai led the Battle Hall and Liu Ning the External Affairs Hall.
Consequently, Xu Shan was the perfect choice. He was someone steady and loyal, unwilling to fight for vain power and capable of knowing his own place. Moreover, he only led one of the four idle Pavillions and could take upon more responsabilities.
After his pondering, Yu Weiyuan nodded his head in tacit agreement before looking at Elder Xu Shan. "Elder Xu, henceforth, you will lead the Law Enforcement Hall as its Head Elder. Are you willing?"
Xu Shan's rough voice resounded as he clasped his hands in front of him. "Thank you Sect Master for your trust!"
"Now that this is out of the way..." Yu Weiyuan began. "We can now adress the problem of resources."
"Our high-grade resources are insufficient to sustain the Core Disciples for this year."
"Sect Master." Called Elder Liu.
"I'm listening." Answered Yu Wieyuan, his interest piqued. After all, Elder Liu, as the Head Elder of the External Affairs Hall, was also in charge of the information gathering of the Sect.
"The Endless Wealth Auction House of the Hidden Shadow Market sent news to the major powers of the Crouching Dragon Domain that they will hold their centurial Grand Auction in one month."
Yu Weiyuan's eyes brightened. "Perfect! The Spiritual Stones sitting in our treasury will finally have a use!"
"This auction will probably resolve our resource issue on the short term." He began. "Its solution on the long term is related to the next issue on our agenda."
Seriousness crept up upon Yu Weiyuan's face as the atmosphere around the table became tense.
"We will declare war on the Myriad Demon Temple."
The Elders around the table weren't shocked. After their Sect Master's blitzkrieg operation, they had been prepared for this moment.
"The time will be in one year." Yu Weiyuan started laying out his plans for them to see. "This is the time I give the Sect to prepare thoroughly."
"I want the Alchemy Hall, Formation Hall and Refining Hall to apply for low to middle-grade resource to prepare Qi Resplenishment Pills, portable Formation Plates and combat Artefacts."
"The entire body of disciples needs to be decently equipped by the time the war begins."
Elder Yan Liqin, Elder Song Hui and Elder Zheng Shi of the Refining Hall nodded their heads and cupped their hands as they took the orders.
"The External Affairs Hall can start the selection of one ally within the surrounding sects."
"I can share the big pie of the Myriad Demon Temple, but we'll have to make sure they don't step out their bounds during the alliance talks, Elder Liu."
Elder Liu Ning's eyes held no fluctuations as she too cupped her fists in agreement.
"The Law Enforcement Hall and the Internal Affairs Hall must make sure to smoothen the war preparations, culling out all problematic elements to their roots."
Xu Shan and Xiang Yaozu both nodded.
"And finally, we will strengthen the overall power of our disciples by organizing exchanges between the Halls and Pavillions all the while increasing the number of Elder's preachings at all levels."
Yu Weiyuan finished, looking over the twelve Elders, his aura noble and majestic, akin to a peerless Emperor knowing no refusal or disobedience.
"Is that clear?"
The Elder all wore a look of admiration on their faces as they cupped their hands before them in respect, shouting in unisson.
"Yes, Sect Master!!!"
