Chapter 52: The battle of Kings-3

A week passed since Erik made his way into Wakanda. Today the whole Wakanda was boiling, and all tribes were heading towards the royal palace. There is a small area behind the palace near the waterfall where they will decide to fight for the throne.

A group of Dora Miljae came and escorted Erik and his fighters towards the waterfall.

There was a lot of crowd following them. The news about the lost prince of Wakanda who came for the throne has spread all over Wakanda. No matter who, from the fancy-dressed river tribe people who wear jackets and suits to mining tribe people who wear simple clothing, all came.

------Fighting Arena------

Zuri as the royal shaman waited for both the king and the challenger in the arena. Looking at the crowd that came to watch this fight, he knew this was very much unfavourable to the old king and his reputation. Losing the fight will mean losing his life and with it, losing all the glory he achieved. He will be known as 'kin killer' and that is a sin not tolerated in any tribe.

T'Chaka came with his son today. His wife refused to leave their daughter alone. She knew if her husband lost the fight, she might have to beg her own husband's killer for her daughter's treatment. Today was a day she never imagined when she gave birth to her daughter. Her most precious and intelligent little cat was now in a deep sleep for some unknown reason and she cannot do anything for her.

Erik walked inside the palace with his entourage, and they stood outside the waterfall area. Erik gestured for dino riders to wait here and then moved forward with the knights and his Saber. He jumped directly down from a platform on the waterfall instead of walking down the stairs. His saber looked down at the height and growled a little. She saw the nearby caves and the stones around them and then moved a little back and then directly jumped on them.

Erik landed on his feet and stabilised himself with one hand on the ground. The landing itself nearly shook the whole arena.

Zuri whispered something in the ears of nearby shaman kids and then they brought two bowls of some drinks. There were ceremonial drums and little music that made the whole thing more sacred. However, Erik had no interest in the whole charade.

Maybe this is pride or religious ceremony for Wakandan people but for him, this is more of a courtroom and he got his audience today.

"Drink this. Both of you." Zuri offered the bowls to both of them and T'Chaka and Erik drank them clean. T'Chaka was already feeling weaker while Erik hardly felt anything.

It made sense because of the adventure in Erik's childhood. His body had more than enough energy to drink several of these bowls and he would still be okay. (read chapter 36)

"Are you ready, King T'Chaka?" Zuri asked looking at the king.

T'chaka nodded. The fight has to be without any protective gear and with primitive weapons. It was more of the original tradition that was still followed. So, he was only dressed in simple clothes.

T'Chaka had a long spear in his right hand and a small light shield in his left. He wanted to maintain some distance and avoid fighting in close range. He knew his health and with the sudden weakness, he knew winning this fight will take everything.

Zuri was confused looking at Erik's reaction or 'no reaction'. Before he could come close to Erik, a huge shadow came jumping near the platform and scared him. The sabertooth managed to land herself after a few jumps and no matter how high the distance, she won't let her partner face a fight alone. She threatened the stupid human who wanted to come near her partner but saw Erik smiling.

She knew the smile meant he was safe, and he wanted to fight alone. She knew not every hunt can be together, so she backed down a little.

Erik had also taken his uniform off when he came for the fight today. He took a small shield from the weapons and looked at T'Chaka.

Zuri saw both fighters were ready and then got off the arena. He motioned the fighters to start and T'Chaka attacked directly with the spear.

Even in weakness and old age, his spear moved like it was dancing in the air. Erik dodged the spear and moved closer to T'Chaka but T'Chaka rotated the spear like a stick and attacked again.

Erik deflected the attack with the shield and then grabbed the spear.

"Come here, Uncle!" He said angrily and pulled the spear. His force brought T'Chaka near him. T'Chaka unstable from such an attack tried to use his shield to hit him but Erik just dodged and punched in his gut.

That one punch with unstable footing threw T'Chaka directly on the ground. T'Challa who was near his father felt his heart-stopping. He has never seen his father this weak and humiliated in his entire life. He had enough of this.

T'Challa without any care jumped on the arena and attacked Erik with a small sword. However, while he was still in the air, he was directly hit and thrown back by the Saber. One hit from Erik and one hit from his saber took away all the fighting power from the King and Prince T'Challa.

No one. Not a single warrior or civilian ever thought that the fight for the throne will be this lacklustre.

"Do you yield?" Erik asked T'Chaka but when T'Chaka refused to answer and tried to hit Erik, Erik grabbed his hand and broke his wrists.

"Do you yield?" Erik asked again. T'Chaka was in great pain but his will was firm. He wanted to say something but before he could open his mouth, he heard his boy.

"Baba yields. The fight is over. Stop. You don't need to kill him. You want the throne, you can have it. Just leave him."

Erik heard T'Challa shouting and he laughed at his stupidity.
