Chapter 29: Medicine by candlelight..
Recoil stood over Zoya's bed.
They had gently woken Zoya, her eyes were dim as ever but she had a touch of a smile for lieutenant. Who took a seat beside the bed and clasped his partners hand.
The Nurse sat too by the bed after lighting candles for the treatment, she held a small icon and appeared to be praying for the girl..
As the lieutenant reassured Zoya - Recoil went to work, searching for a vein. It was difficult by candlelight in a room - she took her time - upon finding one retrieved the enhancement syringe and gently inserted the needle and pressed down on the plunger.
Arkady and the Nurse had only hope never having experienced the magic of an enhancement before but she was sure as eggs that the minute the enhancement entered Zoya's body - she would begin a transformation from debilitated to healthy - even beyond healthy - potent and energized.
