Chapter 6: Leveling up

"Graahhh!!" A loud sound burst throughout the forest as soon as Jiho killed the child wolf.

He turned his head to the right, only to find a big grown-up wolf standing, trembling with anger.

"Shit... She is probably the mother of the child wolf I just killed!" He backed off, not wanting to get hunted by the big wolf.

He quickly climbed up onto a tree branch, making sure the wolf couldn't reach him.

He inspected the wolf to find out its level and other info.

[Adult Wolf]

[Level: 6]

[HP: 50/50]

The adult Wolf had a total of 50 HP, which was impossible for Jiho to bring down to 0.

He felt defeated and leaped onto another branch, trying to get away from the adult wolf that was still chasing him.

After running for 5 minutes, he finally found a place to hide and got rid of the wolf.

He sighed in relief, learning his lesson to be careful the next time he wants to hunt monsters.

If it wasn't for his assassin's ability to climb even tall trees, he would have died there in the blink of an eye.

He again started searching for monsters to kill, he wanted to level up to 4 or 5 today, at any cost.

He spotted 4 horned rabbits in one place, but they looked more like white orbs of XP to him.

"I can level up to 3 if I kill all of them..." He grinned like a maniac and took his dagger out.

The next moment, four rabbit hides and 2 horns lay on the ground.

Jiho received two notifications and one indicated that he had leveled up to level 3.

[Killed 4 level 2 horned rabbits, gained 60 XP!]

[You have successfully leveled up to level 3!]

"Interface", he decided to open up his interface and increase his stats again.

5 points to strength, 3 to agility, and 2 to the vitality. He now had monstrous stamina and agility, making him a perfect assassin even at a low level, and the 25 points of strength guaranteed an easy win for him against low-level monsters and players.

Raising his vitality increased his defense points, this made him relieved, now he wouldn't have to fear dying to warriors and knights if he increased his vitality stat.

He noticed a few players around him who were struggling to fight wolves, but he felt strange. He could easily defeat the wolf and rabbits but these players who were obviously at level 3 or 4 were struggling with the monsters.

He now understood the true potential of his stats and class. This felt like a cheat to him, he wanted to exploit this as much as he could.

He started farming XP like a maniac.

[Killed 5 horned rabbits... Gained 75 XP!]

[Level Up 3 -> 4!]

[Killed 4 Child wolves, gained 120 XP!]

[Killed 4 purple deers, gained 160 XP!]

[Level Up 4 -> 5]

He leveled up to 5 pretty easily, but he finally decided to open up his Interface and check his stats.

His stats were now perfect, his muscle strength had increased and he got faster. He called it a day and decided to sell the items he had obtained before logging off the game.

He leaped from one tree to another, not wanting to run on the ground as it was not advantageous.

After 10 minutes, he finally arrived at the village. He entered the village, again looking at the guards.

He noticed that the guards were now watching his moves closely. 'Looks like the guards only care about who is entering the village.' he concluded.

He decided to take a better look at the village this time. After walking for a minute, he found the merchant store. He went to the merchant store.

An old guy was sitting on a chair. He looked bored and didn't have any work to do.

He was resting his head on a table but then noticed Jiho standing in front of him.

"Huh?" The old man yawned and stared at Jiho's face.

"What do you want, young man? Buy or sell?" The old merchant asked him.

"Sell", Jiho replied. He took the items out of his inventory and put them all on the table.

The items didn't get any attention from the merchant. He just waved his hand as a pouch appeared on the table.

"Here, take these 800 coins." He pointed at the pouch of coins.

[Gained 800 coins!]

The pouch disappeared into pixels and added up in Jiho's interface.

He nodded and thanked the old merchant. He now had 800 coins, maybe he could now go to the equipment store and buy new weapons and armor.

He headed straight to the equipment store, it was not so far away so he arrived at the store in under a minute.

The store was more crowded than any other building in the village because of the sheer need for weapons and armor.

Jiho somehow made his way through the crowd and entered the shop.

It had 2 floors but going to the second floor was not allowed. He didn't think too much about it and decided to take a good look at useful weapons for assassins.

There were many weapons for the assasin class but only 2 were needed for him.

He decided to inspect the first one which was a dagger.

[Steel Dagger]

[Level: 5]

[Price: 300 coins]

It was a sharp steel dagger which was important for an assasin of Jiho's level to get. He already met the level requirement which was 5 and now he could use it.

The price of the dagger was affordable for him so he decided to buy it.

And the second one was an assassin's cloak.

[Assasin's Cloak]

[Level: 5]

[Price: 450 coins]

It had the same level requirement but only the price was a little higher than the dagger.

He bought the two items and paid the shop owner 750 coins. He now had 50 coins left but thankfully, for now, he had no other use for coins.

He then called it a day and logged off the game. He turned into pixels and soon after, he jolted back to the real world.

He opened his eyes and took the headset off. He placed it on the desk and went to the dining room to have his meal.

His mom and dad were weirdly looking at him.

"Where were you, Jiho? It has been 4 hours since you went to your room. You didn't even drink water, you should stay hydrated." His father was the first one to speak.

"Ah... I was trying out the game..." Jiho gave a simple answer but his dad couldn't believe that he had such a strong interest in games.

"Ok well... Just don't do it too often." His father only said a few words and then ate his food.

Jiho also dug in as he hadn't had breakfast earlier and now, he was hungry.

After finishing, he again went to his room and started browsing the game forums on his phone.

There were millions of forums there but he searched for some keywords, which were 'Assasin' and 'Stats'. He was curious to know if his stats were overpowered or if it was the same for all assassins.

The next thing he found was shocking.

"Huh?!"
