Chapter 1: I Love Life

"Dying hurts..."

Liam grumbled as he pat the dirt away from his white priest robe. It has strange golden symbols on it. The robe was also highlighted with different runes on its edges. It gives a feeling of both holy and divine.

"Well, the pain is worth it if I'm transmigrated to a new world."

He looked around his surroundings and smiled.

The boy was surrounded by towering trees. Strange flowers and plants grow in different places. He even saw a violet apple hanging on a tree.

"Hmmm..."

'What to do?' He asked himself.

A while ago, he was in an airplane flying to Seoul for a vacation trip. Who would know that the plane he was on exploded without any prior warning? He literally died falling to the sea while his body was burning.

"Hehe, at least I experienced dying, falling in the sky, and burning at the same time. Talk about killing three birds with one stone." The crazy Liam snickered. Entirely savoring the feeling he experienced a while ago.

"If someone asks me if I ever had an idea how it feels to be burned alive, hehe..."

A flock of birds suddenly flew in Liam's direction. They were somehow strange in appearance. Their wings were like a rainbow both beautiful and elegant. However, the strange part was that their wings were in their beak...

Liam's eye sparkled.

"So beautiful!"

And once again, he felt astounded.

'The world is really amazing. So many things to explore and discover.' Even back on Earth, Liam was fascinated even by the smallest thing that capture his attention.

"Living is such a blessing!" He laughed out loud.

'But isn't it strange? Normally I'll have the previous memory of this owner's body. Judging by this poor lad's clothes, he is a priest. There is a rule that I can only transmigrate to a freshly dead body, right? Then how come there is no wound nor sign of being dead in my body...' Liam pondered.

Just as he was having many theories in his dead how this body died, he felt a sharp pain in his head.

"Here it comes!" Liam laughed.

"Ah, wait, hey, ouch it hurts god damn it!" A burst of memories entered his mind. Foreign memories not of his own played like a movie at an astonishing speed. Although insanely fast, he understood and digested these memories just as fast as they were being transferred.

Liam stood like a statue in the middle of the forest. He was silently digesting and recollecting these memories. Finding the specific memory he was interested in the most.

"Keir Blade..." He murmured under his breath.

'This b*tch has a cool name' Liam jealously spat on the ground.

He then becomes silent once more. After a while, he chuckled and hold his belly, trying hard not to burst out laughing.

"He actually died from cardiac arrest!"

Well, who cares. Thanks for dying I guess. Without your death, I might be the one dying for real here.

"To show my gratitude for your noble sacrifice, I shall help you achieve your dreams in this world!" Liam laughed and talked to himself again.

After saying that, he checked Keir's memory and looked for the boy's dreams and goals.

But then a strange glint appeared in his eyes.

"You're this crazy?" He showed a strange expression.

'This lad has no dreams!'

He doesn't care about anything and everything other than serving his so-called God.

Keir Blade was a 17-year-old boy who was a devout believer in the Heavenly God. He was an orphan adopted by Father David, a priest in the Church of the Heavenly God.

'This kid is a deacon of the church? I thought a deacon should be at least 35 years old. This is a different world so the rules might be a little different.'

As he was recollecting his memories, a thundering boom encompasses the entire forest.

*Boom*

The sky darkened in a blink of an eye. Violent lightning flashed everywhere. Within seconds, the rain started pouring down non-stop.

Liam's eye twitched.

"Tch, you've got to be kidding me." He immediately looked around to search for shelter. But all he can see were towering trees. Although tall, the leaves of the tree were thin not blocking the slightest raindrop.

The fog started forming and limiting Liam's vision. Making the previous fantasy-looking forest into a horror one.

Not wasting any more time, he directly ran towards a small mountain he can faintly see in the distance. At least over there, there was a chance he can find a cave to seek cover from.

As he was running, the robe hindered his movements. Mud and dirt covered his exquisite clothing.

He took off his robe without changing his speed of running. His running speed increased when the robe was taken off. He then tied his robes near his waist area.

"Eh?"

For some unknown reason, he only realized now that there was a scabbard hidden behind his back. It was placed horizontally behind his belly. The scabbard has a strange golden symbol of the cross visible on the hilt of the sword.

There was actually a hidden blade behind his robes.

A cutlass? Liam gaped. Before he can think of things why a deacon of the church has a short sword, a huge fist was hurled in his direction. Because of the unnecessary thought clouding Liam's mind, he was unable to react immediately.

The paw successfully hit Liam's side profile. The poor lad was thrown by the sheer force of the paw. If Liam was not mistaken, he heard a cracking sound from his chest.

Before his body hit a nearby tree, his body instinctively somersaulted in a backward motion in the air. His feet landed on the tree and used it as a spring to push himself forward against the enemy.

He unsheathed his short sword in a fluid motion as if he was used to this kind of accident. When Keir's short sword was drawn, a cold aura was released from his body as he was running toward his enemy.

Halfway through, Liam suddenly stopped.

"Huh? What just happened?" Liam was bewildered.

But that short pause gave his opponent the time to approach Liam. And since Liam was already near it, it took no more than a second to close up to him.

It hurled its paws once more, but this time Liam regained his clarity from his previous stupefied expression.

The strike was aimed at his head. He dodged the hit by simply bending down. After that, he propelled himself by kicking the ground and jumping backward to gain distance between the monster in front of him.

The fog that was covering his opponent's figure finally dissipated and he got a clear view of the monster in front of him.

An eight-foot monster with a bear-like appearance appeared in front of Liam. It has two huge fangs from its salivating mouth. It has a blackish brown fur covering its body. Its paw was faintly glowing, a red aura surrounding it. The most striking feature of the monster was that it only has one huge eye at the center of its forehead.

"I shall call you cyclobear!" Liam laughed as he quickly picked up his pace and ran away.

'Do you think I'm an idiot!? Why the heck would I face off with that freaking monster!' He shouted internally.

But to Liam's dismay, the cyclobear was just as fast as him, heck it might be even faster.

"Ah f*ck it!" Liam stopped and instead faced the bear when he noticed that running away from it was impossible.

He put his left foot forward and his right foot at a 45-degree angle. His legs were in a straddle position. His left arm holding the sword was pointing at the cyclobear in front of him while his right arm was near his chest in an open-palm position.

A back stance! Use for blocking and backward evasion techniques.

Although he planned on killing it, being a foreigner of this world, he must first observe what kind of strange abilities this monster has. Aiming for the kill on the get-go without knowing the abilities of your opponent was simply courting death.

The cyclobear sensed his intent to battle and growled menacingly as if taunting the boy in front of him.

"You asked for this! Don't blame me for dying just like this previous body's owner."

The monster retracted his claws from its paw making Liam shrink back and regret his taunting.

It swiped its claws with stunning force. Liam blocked the strike successfully yet his arm was shaking from the remaining force.

'Too strong!'

The bear kept landing barrages of attacks on the poor lad. Liam blocked and evade every single one successfully. Although the bear's strength was strong, its speed was not that note-worthy. With Liam's agility, he avoided every single strike.

After three minutes of intense battle, Liam finally moved.

He easily redirected the swing of the monster's paw and closed the distance. With lightning-quick speed, he stabbed the belly of the monster.

'Eh? It's soft...'

His short sword successfully stabbed his opponent. Liam wasn't sure if his short sword was just that sharp or if this cyclobear's defense was too weak.
