Chapter 10: God of mischief
"So this all you got for a day's work"
The man walks slowly toward her and punches her in the stomach-dropping her to the ground and he continues to kick her.
"you worthless, ungrateful girl, I took you and that little runt of a sister in off the streets and this is how you repay my kindness maybe I should take that fancy bracelet your so fond of."
Kazumi walks up to the man and taps him on the shoulder when the man stands up before he can even turn around Kazumi sweeps his legs from under him and in the split second that he's falling Kazumi punches the man in the face knocking him into the pavement Kazumi then picks up the girl piggyback style, at that moment the man gets up with blood dripping down his face and his nose broken a runs away.
"Himari!" Says the girl painfully.
"Who's Himari?"
"She's my little sister we have to save her."
"Not in your condition."
"No I have to my sister she's very sick and stealing stuff for him was the only thing keeping her taken care of."
"Please, she's all I have!"
Kazumi races down the road with the girl on his shoulders then his phone rings.
"Hey, Kazumi what happened you've been gone a while." Says Harutora.
"I have some bad news."
"Don't tell me you couldn't find her."
"Not exactly."
"You've been shot? ...You've been kidnapped?
"Even worse."
"What could be worse than that ?"
"Let's just say you're going to be broke for a while ...….hello."
"Takada here Harutora passed out."
"I might be back late so just go home but be ready."
"Okay."
Kazumi begins to talk to the girl.
"By the way, I'm Kazumi Kishimoto."
"My name is Hiyori Minamoto."
"Well, which way are we heading Hiyori?"
"Straight ahead of the hospital is on 42nd street."
As they approach the hospital they see the man Kazumi had hit and a few others.
Do you know another way?
A few minutes later.
" A laundry chute you sure this is the only other way?"
"The only way I know."
Hiyori who at this time is well enough to climb follows after Kazumi up the chute.
"The chute gets narrower at the top."
Kazumi more focused on climbing doesn't pay attention to the warning until it's too late and Hiyori who is still climbing becomes very tightly packed against Kazumi who then gets excited and begins heating up the chute Hiyori and Kazumi then reach top floor upon which Hiyori who feels violated after from being so close to Kazumi in the chute walks away from him.
"Are you ok Hiyori."
Hiyori cowers at Kazumi's touch.
"Stay away!"
"I know you're still hurt but we don't have time for that right now."
Hiyori breathes deeply.
"Okay let's go"
Kazumi and Hiyori arrive at the room but before reaching the curtain that divides the large room it's moved to reveal the battered man holding a syringe to Himari's neck.
"I thought you would come here."
"Let her go."
"You seem to be forgetting your place Hiyori or have you forgotten that your precious little sister is only here because of me, I take you two brats off the streets and this is the thanks I get.
Two men come from behind and restrain them.
"Get away from her." Says Hiyori.
"Do you know what's in this syringe I'm holding..... her medicine at 10 times the regular dose, I wonder what would happen if I injected her right now would she go into shock and have a seizure or would her heart stop I guess you never know until you try."
Kazumi stares at himari and thinks of his sister.
"I'll do whatever you want just let her go"
Hiyori falls to her knees crying.
"Stab him"
"What," says Hiyori.
The man tosses a knife on the ground.
"His life or hers"
Hiyori looks up at Kazumi.
"Only a coward would use a sick girl as a hostage." says Kazumi
Kazumi's eyes change showing only killer intent intimidating the man, Kazumi's flames ignite burning his subduers.
"What the hell are you"
Hiyori watches in fear as Kazumi approaches him but then the fire suppressers turn on and in this split second the man takes Himari and heads for the roof with Kazumi and Hiyori following behind, As Hiyori and Kazumi reach the roof the man is holding the girl hostage with the needle to her neck.
Himari Screams for her sister to save her.
"Not so fast you boy with fire lay down on the ground with your hands behind your back"
Kazumi looks at Hiyori's face then he does as the man says but as Hiyori looks at the beaten-down shaking man and for once she isn't scared in fact she begins to think of ways to hurt him when suddenly she hears a voice.
"Its finally play time."
Hiyori suddenly appears behind the man striking him repeatedly making him drop the syringe, Kazumi takes this opportunity to rescue himari.
After knocking the man unconscious Hiyori collapses, when she wakes she is laying in Kazumi's lap at first she is embarrassed but then calm.
"What happened"
" Ah well you beat up that guy which by the way I still don't know the name of and then you passed out."
"How long was I out?"
"About 4 hours its nearly 6 pm."
"You watched me all this time."
"Well, I wasn't about to leave you."
Hiyori blushes.
"Wait where are we and where is Himari?"
"We're in my dorm room and Himari is being healed by Masami."
"What you mean healed."
" listen me and my friends aren't exactly normal and as you probably realized by now neither are you."
" So do you know why we are like this."
"My father was uncovering an ancient temple that had this weird sword in it from what Yuki's told me it was apparently possessed by some fire demon or spirit-like thing we know little but what we do know is most of us have heard a voice at one point or another counting myself only Harutora has heard a voice."
"I heard a voice too on the roof of the hospital, At least I think I did."
At that moment Himari runs in and jumps on Hiyori.
"Thanks for saving me.
"I couldn't have done it without Kazumi."
Hiyori looks at Kazumi as the rest of the group walks in.
"Hey so she's completely healed."
" You must be Masami I assume, I don't know how to repay you it's been years since she has been able to walk around like this."
Kazumi introduces everyone except Kiona who introduces herself, Kiona walks up to Hiyori and speaks of Kazumi in an almost possessive manner.
"What's your relationship with Kazumi." said Kiona
"What's with the kid? " said Hiyori
Kiona goes on a rant about how it's not her fault she is short and becomes aggressive towards Hiyori.
"No fighting in my room ...….Hiyori this is Kiona ….Kiona is…"
"I belong to Kazumi so you can't have him." Says Kiona.
Wanting to avoid the wrath of the girls Kazumi sneaks out of his room in the mist of all the commotion where he is greeted by Takada.
"Saito is here he needs to speak with you."
Kazumi follows Takada to a conference hall.
"We have gotten information that two people have just arrived in London from via Samaki inc. private jet." Says Saito.
"So they have made their move."
"To be completely honest we don't know what they are planning only thing we do know is that we need to be cautious."
Meanwhile at Samaki manor two members of the branch family have arrived at Nagato's office.
"Because of recent developments ,we have decided that you have some help."
"Mr. Samaki doesn't need a bodyguard."
"Think of her as an aid or assistant if you will."
"Her?"
"This is Imiki."
Before Takashi could object further the man departs leaving Imiki behind.
"Follow me."
Takashi Leads Imiki to the chamber where Nagato resides.
"Sir it appears we have received a gift from the branch family."
"So this is what they had planned"
"It would appear so."
"You will be living with my master from this day onward and you will train day and night until you can withstand and eventually fight alongside of it."
"Alongside what." Says Imiki.
"Master Nagato"
Nagato stands.
"Release it."
"As you wish"
Takashi removes a seal that was hidden on his forearm releasing Nagato's raw power bringing Imiki to her knees.
" What your experiencing is but a fraction of his power, when he isn't controlling it its powerful enough that it could affect everything within the vicinity of this city therefore its your job to suppress this enormous power so it doesn't run rampant, you will be my replacement and Nagato's new guardian"
"So im his new guardian."
"Not yet, You will be training with my young master day and night for ten days before you can have the seal passed on to you we will be beginning immediately.
