Chapter 2: Realization 0.2
After their work hours ended, Kai and Mike were replaced by other soldiers. Since the accident which took place earlier that night, really wrecked their nerves, these two were too tired to simply do anything, but sleep.
On the next day, Mike once again was waking up Kai.
- What now? Did Arabs come again? - Kai asked while being dizzy
- Get up right now! we are suspected of stealing provision!
- What the fuck!
- Anthon says that he saw you yesterday, secretly taking 12 loaves of bread...
- Ungrateful bastards! Ho-
Suddenly 6 soldiers burst into the Tent fully equipped. They were quite quick and blunt. they surrounded the two and made a small circle. Shortly after the vice-captain came in and claimed: " Michael and Kai, you two are sentenced to 3 days of starvation and 50 whippings by the hand of your comrades, on top of that you two will be in the exposure of the whole unit, while they are training. ( this was done to extract pure pressure upon them)
Kai and Mike were captured into the pillory and dragged to the center of the training ground.
Day 1, morning: soldiers loudly "trained" on the training field, doing some lousy movements and screaming out some unbearable words.
At that time:
- I can't get how they just believed a fool with no explanation or a judging process. fucking assholes. - Kai
- calm down, kai or they may lengthen our sentence. - Mike
- What do you mean calm down Mike, if we didn't give those guys their food, all of us might have been fucking dead and that would have happened without any fucking resistance. You know the rules. you know what WHITE ROBES MEA-
* soldier violently kicks kai into his mouth by using a knee *
* kai coughs out blood *
- You fucki-
* soldier kicks kai even more violently *
- Fucking pig
- HAHAHAHA! You seem to be new, I have never seen a soldier as dumb as you, in this unit before!
* soldier starts vigorously kicking kai in his abdomen and diaphragm *
* kai falls on the ground, unable to properly breathe *
- HAHAHA, sometimes you have to teach these kids with fists~
day 1 night:
- water ..... I need some water
- strengthen up Kai we must endure this. - Mike
- I still don't understand, I am full of anger, all we did was save them and in return they captured us and now we are being tortured.
- that's how it works in the army and Life in general. No one cares about your side of the story, they only see what they want to see and make assumptions solely from there.
Day 2, morning:
it's so hot, I can't take this anymore- Kai mumbled to himself
Mike was silent while pailing away.
Day 2 night
- I am sick and tired of this fucking place, just you wait Mike I will get stronger, I will become a better version of myself and change this god damn place. I WILL... I should ... I must... - Kai spouted endlessly to himself without noticing that, Mike was still silent... Mike had his eyes open, so everything should have been fine with him, right?
Day 3, morning:
the same soldier approached Kai and looked down on him while saying: "I see you calmed down, newbie... don't feel like biting your owner's hand anymore huh? HAHAHAHA"
*Kai was furious but he stayed silent*
- Listen carefully Kai, I don't think my body can handle the whipping on the fourth day... We have been without water and food for three days now and my body is exhausted. If I won't be able to make it alive after this punishment please take care of my family in Fikit. it's a small village where everyone knows everybody.
- stop spouting bullshit Mike, we are going to make it out alive. Both of us.
- Ye ... right...
Day 3 night
* they were both practically unconscious *
Day 4 morning: the whole squad was surrounding these two to give them the final punishment, however after seeing their sorry state, they felt bad for them... At least most of them did, but the vice-captain was never part of the majority. They splashed water onto the punished soldiers and busted out laughing when they saw their amazed expressions.
vice-captain: time to pay~
On that day, that camp heard noises and groans which it had never heard before...
