Chapter 37: First Battle
Daikon tried to sleep that night but was unable to so instead he cultivated with Flygon and Dragonair. Morning soon came and he felt refreshed. He released all his Pokemon and looked at them seriously.
"Today, is the first day of The U20 Kanto Tournament. Today is the day we show the world we belong here and show them our strength." he said, looking at each of his pokemon.
Milotic gave a gentle cry while Espeon purred and rubbed Daikon's leg. Flygon and Dragonair glared at each other while Typhlosion simply nodded. Togekiss cooed loudly and flew around in excitement. Returning them all to their pokeballs, Daikon make his way down to the stadium where a battle was finishing up.
"Lizzy's Magmar finishes Jelk's Steelix with Fire Blast, sending her to the next round." the announcer said.
The two contestants cleared the stadium. Daikon cleared his mind, trying to not let nerves set in. Espeon was still by his side and gave him a bump of encouragement.
"The next trainer came 30th last year and is in his final year of participating in this tournament. He is known for his strong water types, please give a round of applause for Derek Heiman."
Scattered applause were heard as a tall blue haired man walked out onto the stadium.
"His opponent is known by all of us and is the youngest contestant this year, Daikon Klein!"
Taking a deep breath, Daikon and Espeon walked out and was temporarily blinded by the light. He could hear some applause and cheers for him.
The ref stood in the middle of the field and spoke into a microphone. "This battle is 3v3. Once the trainer's three pokemon are unable to battle, they lose."
Derek and Daikon both nodded their heads. Daikon looked at Espeon who took the field, ready to battle. Looking at the Espeon, Derek sneered before sending out a Seismitoad.
"Derek starts off strong with his Seismitoad! Let's see what the newbie Daikon will do!"
Art looked at Espeon and gave her a nod, 'Crush them.'
Espeon let out a happy cry and faced the Seismitoad with determination.
"Hydro Pump!"
A large strong stream of water shot at Espeon, who stood there. At the last second, Espeon's eyes glowed and sent the Hydro Pump back at Seismitoad. Daikon knew the Pokemon wasn't fast and wouldn't be able to avoid Espeon's attack. The Hydro Pump slammed into it, pushing it back a few meters. Espeon didn't let up, and sent a Psybeam at the Seismitoad.
Seismitoad quickly used Mud Shot to block the attack and followed the attack with a Drain Punch.
'So slow.' Daikon thought as he watched the pokemon move.
Espeon must have thought the same, as she waited until Seismitoad was in front of her and quickly used Iron Tail, slamming into its face. Espeon didn't relent and used a Headbutt and then a Psybeam.
"Seismitoad is unable to battle. Espeon is the winner!" the ref said loudly.
The crowd erupted in cheers as they were shocked at Espeon's strength and speed.
"What an upset! Espeon defeats Seismitoad with ease and the young trainer is up 1-0!"

Cynthia sat with Rose and watched the Espeon. "What a well trained Espeon." she said, looking over at her daughter who stared at Daikon with a dazed expression. Cynthia shook her head and poked her daughter's forehead.
"What was that for!?" she said grabbing her head.
"I brought you here to watch Pokemon battles and not gawk at handsome boys." Cynthia teased.
"I'm not gawking. He is strong, that's it." Rose muttered, he face turning a little pink.
Cynthia smiled a knowing smile but nodded her head looking back at Daikon, "Yes he is strong, not only that but he trained his Pokemon to think for themselves. You could learn something from him." she said, giving Daikon some praise.

Derek gritted his teeth as he recalled Seismitoad. Taking out another pokeball he threw it and a flash of light appeared.
"Barbaracle!"
"And Derek sends out his Barbaracle! A tough Pokemon with strong defense, how will Daikon respond?"
'Let me fight some more master! The last one was too weak!' Espeon complained.
Daikon sighed and nodded his head, which cause Espeon to let out a happy cry.
This time Espeon didn't wait for her opponent to attack first and sprinted at Barbaracle herself.
"Use Stone Edge!"
Rocks started to float around Barbaracle before sent flying at Espeon. Seeing this she avoiding the first rock before jumping over the second. She continued to avoid the rocks with ease as she closed the gap between the two pokemon.
"Night Slash now!"
Daikon's eyes narrowed, knowing if that attack hits it will do some serious damage. He still didn't say anything though, trusting Espeon.
Espeon used Psychic on a rock and blocked the Night Slash but the Barbarable continued to attack, landing a solid hit on Espeon who landed hard on the ground.
"Espeon takes her first hit! It's from a super effective Dark Slash!"
Espeon stood up quickly and growled at the Barbaracle.
'Now he has done it.' Daikon smiled.
Espeon used Quick Attack but Barbaracle used Night Slash again. While using Quick Attack she used Shadow Ball to block its attack. Next she used Psychic on the rocks around it and made them attack Barbaracle. While fighting off the rocks, Barbaracle didn't have time to react to Espeon using Zen Headutt which hit it squarely in the chest.
"Barbaracle is unable to battle, Espeon is the winner!"
"Woooooah! Would you look at that! Espeon wins two battles in a row proving that Daikon Klein isn't just for show and he is here to battle!"
The crowd erupted into cheers as they watched Espeon walked back towards Daikon and start licking her paws.
"What a strong Espeon!"
"It's so cute!"
Daikon smiled bitterly as he rubbed Espeon's head. 'You sure know how to work the crowd.'
'Of course master. Watch this.'
Before Daikon could react, Espeon jumped into his arms and rubbed her head on his cheek, causing girls to scream with joy.
"OMG they are so cute!"
"Look how much his pokemon loves him! He must treat it well!"
Daikon put Espeon down and gave her a look which she ignored and continued to lick her paw.
Derek's face was turning red with anger as he saw the Espeon acting like his last two Pokemon were nothing and turning the crowd against him.
"Let's go, Gyarados!" Derek yelled, releasing his last Pokémon.
The crowd went silent as the giant Gyarados loamed over Espeon.
"Espeon come back." Daikon said.
Espeon trotted next to him playfully and sat down next to him.
"Daikon recalls his Espeon! What Pokemon will he send out next!"
A beautiful pokemon appeared that was around the same length as Gyarados.
"A Milotic folks! Daikon has brought out a Milotic! This Pokemon is very rare and had to raise! Let's see how it fairs in battle."
Milotic looked at Gyarados and her eyes grew cold, she looked back at Daikon who gave her a small smile and a nod.
Giving a loud cry, Milotic dashed towards Gyarados.
"Hydro Pump! Gyarados!"
A huge beam of water shot Milotic who didn't stop and used her own Hydro Pump. The two attacks met in mid air and exploded, causing a light rain to fall on the stadium. Milotic looked like a bullet as she approached Gyarados, she used Dragon Tail and tried to slam it into its head but Gyarados used Dragon Tail as well, meeting the attack in mid air.
"What an even fight! Both Milotic and Gyarados are using the same moves and ending up at a stalemate!"
Daikon scoffed at the announcer, he hadn't seen anything yet.
Milotic's tail started spinning, using twister which engulfed Gyarados, She then used Water Pulse into the twister, causing it to strike Gyarados many times. Gyarados let out a cry of pain but quickly used Twister as well, cancelling out Milotic's.
Unfortunately this is what she was waiting for. She quickly used Dragon Breath on Gyarados and then used Wrap, tightly winding around him. Gyarados cried out in pain but Milotic refused to let go.
"Gyarados is unable to battle, Milotic is the winner. Daikon Klein wins the battle and moves on!" the ref announced.
The stadium turned deafening as they cheered for Daikon.
"Good job girl." Daikon said, rubbing Milotic's head before returning her to her pokeball.
Giving a quick waved to the crowd, Daikon walked out of the stadium, winning his first battle by a landslide.
