Chapter 13: The First Battle
Xyno sends out Sett to fight against Rick's Aipom. After one year Sett is now a bit bigger than when Xyno initially found him. The battle was a 3 on 3 but since Xyno only has two Pokemons and Turtwig was not on the level of fighting, Sett was his only battle-ready Pokemon.
When Sett comes out of his ball everyone stares at Sett as they had not seen a Pokemon such as him.
Everyone was shocked to see an unregistered pokemon but no one commented on it because there are many pokemon that have not been registered by humans. Every year at academy city there are new records of pokemon. So its pretty normal for them.
"Begin!" The referee signals for the battle to start.
As soon as the battle starts Sett flies up into the air and takes up battle position, awaiting Xyno's orders. Xyno was at red side while Rick was at blue side.
"I'll show you where you belong!" Rick shouts out and orders Aipom to use Rock Throw on Sett. Aipom magically creates a Rock on it's tail and throws it at Sett's direction. Sett dodges the Rock without any effort at all.
"What? He dodged that without any effort at all. No worries I will still take you out".
As Rick gets angry over Aipom missing the Rock Throw Xyno orders Sett to use Air Cutter.
"Sett, use Air Cutter."
A gust of wind starts brewing around Sett and the next moment a volley of wind blades rush towards Aipom.
Aipom tries to dodge the attack but after dodging a couple of blades the next blades eventually hits Aipom and dust blows, hiding Aipom from everyone's sight. When the dust finally settled Aipom had fainted.
"Rick's Aipom has fainted and is unable to partake in the battle any further." The referee declares.
"How can you lose to such a low-grade flying-type attack. You are useless." Rick curses Aipom and calls it back into it's ball.
Seeing this Xyno narrows his eyes. He has already that there are many trainers that abuse their Pokemon. They never understand that by doing such actions they will not be able to form proper links with their Pokemon.
"You got lucky. But my Chimchar will show you where you stand!" Rick rages and sends out his Chimchar.
SPECIES: Chimchar
AGE: 6 years
LEVEL: 19
TALENT: D+
ELEMENT: Fire
ABILITY: Blaze
(This Chimchar seems to be his starter. It has D+ talent. Well nothing that Sett can't handle.) Xyno thinks inwardly.
"Chimchar! Use Ember!" Rick orders Chimchar to attack Sett.
Chimchar lets out a cry as a bunch of small fire bullets are fired at Sett. Sett uses Air Cutter to counter the flame bullets.
Sett's attack was more powerful than Chimchar's Ember and the Air Cutters cut through the attack and charge straight at Chimchar.
"Use Quick Attack!" Rick tells Chimchar to use Quick Attack.
Chimchar quickly dodges the attack and rushes towards Sett.
"Use Flame Wheel and hit him!" Rick yells out.
As Chimchar is closing in the distance he suddenly starts rolling and uses Flame Wheel. Chimchar gets engulfed in flames as it jumps into the air and comes straight at Sett.
"Dodge and use Air Cutter" Xyno tells Sett to use Air Cutter.
When Chimchar gets near, Sett quickly dodges and as Chimhcar is making his descent Sett turns around and uses Air Slash. A strong gust of wind blows and hits Chimchar directly at it's back.
"Char!" Chimchar yells as he gets badly injured and drops to the ground.
"Chimchar! Why didn't you dodge the attack?!" Rick blurts out more nonsense.
"Get up and use Ember again!"
Chimchar slowly gets up and tries to use aim at Sett, but Sett was quicker and uses Air Cutter before Chimchar can use Ember. The move makes a direct hit and Chimchar faints instantly.
"Chimchar is unable to battle. Rick has now one Pokemon remaining." The referee declares.
"How can this be happening to me?! These Pokemon are absolute trash!" Rick curses his pokemon again.
Everyone looks at him contemptuously.
"Well luck got you this far. But let's see how you do against my trump card! Go! Elekid!" Rick shouts as he lets Elekid out of it's ball.

AGE: 7 years
LEVEL: 23
TALENT: C+
ELEMENT: Electric
ABILITY: Static
Xyno notices that Elekid has much better Talent than the other two of Rick's Pokemon. Whats more problematic is that it has crossed 20. Levels 20, 50, 70, 90 and 100 are milestones for pokemon. Crossing them inreases thier power many times in a single level.
"Let's see how your stupid Flying creature fares against my Elekid. Use Thunderbolt!"
Elekid puts both his hands on his head and shoots a powerful bolt at Sett. The lightning was too fast for Sett to dodge so he gets hit directly. But Sett doesn't take much damage.
(How is that bird still standing after taking a direct Thunderbolt?!) Rick thinks shockingly.
Electric type has advantage over flying so Sett should be severely damaged but it is due to his ability <Sky Demon> He does not fear Electricity at all.
"Hmmph! Elekid use thunderbolt again."
Elekid used thunderbolt but this time Xyno was already prepared to counter.
"Sett use Dark Pulse" Xyno said calmly.
Dangerous level of dark energy started collecting around Sett. Sett slowly contracted and then spread his wings. A ball of dark energy was created.
A huge wave of dark energy was shot from the the ball. Everyone can feel the majestic power from it.
Elekid has just used thunderbolt so it took time casting it again which gave Sett enough time to use this killer move.
The wave directly dispersed the thunderbolt and hit elekid directly. Dust spread everywhere on the ground.
It was a high class move and usually only pokemons above level 50 could learn it. They were still in daze, unable to comprehend this situation.
Although Sett did not level-up much all this time but Xyno focoused more on stable development. He directly asked Regina for a move crystal for this specific attack.
Move crystals are something that can only be made by tier 5 and above trainers. They can record the moves their pokemon learnt through their aura. And learning from them was not easy for just a tier 1 Xyno.
He not only need to comprehend the move through his aura but he also needed to transfer the knowledge to Sett through their link. It was only due to Xyno's unparalled talent that this feat was possible. Still, it took 3 months for Sett to just learn this move.
If not for the help of Regina's champion Class Shadow Gengar's guidance Sett could never use this move efficiently in just an year.
Yes, After checking some old accounts Xyno got to know that Regina was once an annual league winner. When he confronted her about this, she told that she stopped developing as a trainer because she was more interested in research.
Still she was a Tier 7 and as strong as a regular champion.
So her Shadow Gengar became something like a master for Sett.
Everyone was shocked speechless. Dark Pulse was not a move a pokemon at this level could learn.
Even the referee narrowed his eyes at this sight.
(I need to report this situation. This kid is not simple.) He thought inwardly.
Sure enough when dust settled Elekid had already fainted.
"Elekid is unable to battle. Sett wins!"
"All three pokemon of blue side are unable to battle so red side wins!" Refree declared.
Sett happily flies towards Xyno. Xyno hugs him and pats happily on Sett's head.
"You did good, now rest in the Pokeball."
Sett took some damage from the Thunderbolt and after this consecutive fights he was already tired from using strong moves in succession. Especially Dark Pulse, it was a high tier move afterall.
Sett directly went into the Pokeball.
Xyno suddenly heard a scream.
"Arghh! YOU ARE ALL USELESS!"
"You can't even defeat that stupid bird!"
Rick directly went to the fainted Elekid and started kicking it.
Everyone did not like it but they did not stop him as this was his Pokemon. No one wanted to intervene.
Xyno was disgusted by the view and quietly left the battlegound. He could have stopped him but unless he somehow takes away Rick's pokemon, this will keep going and he did not want to create any problems before he gets strong enough.
He did not want Regina and Maria to face unnecessary problems because of him.
He directly left the arena and checked his Pokephone for location of the facility where he has to visit. He did not know that he has already caused an earthquake between the upper echelons of the Academy City.
Well it was just a small chapter in his journey.
