Chapter 464: CH97 (461), Keep Going
After I completed my physical tests, I could not help but think about the conclusion I had come to as to why Utopia had not gone through another upgrade yet, or at least my personal mansion.
I mean, when the upgrade did not happen during my breakthrough to Tier 3 as a psychic, I thought that it may not have been enough, but it did not happen after my breakthrough as an Aura User as well. At the moment that happened, I had been a bit too distracted by my physical upgrades, and only thought about it the next day, but the expected Utopia upgrade did not happen.
I obviously immediately had some ideas about why that was, and I kept considering the topic while testing my physical limits during the last two days. My two days of contemplation only enforced my initial thought, that it would take me reaching Tier 3 Second Class for the upgrade to happen since that was the moment all my energy would be converted into a liquid state.
The question was whether the conversion of only one energy type would be sufficient or if it would take the conversion of both aura and psionic energy for the upgrade to trigger. I was not even considering the chance of one of my Pokemon reaching the dark gold stage as a trigger since I was sure that I would reach the second class in both paths before that happened.
Even the closest one to a breakthrough to the dark gold stage right now, which happened to be Mothra/Butterfree, would take more than 1.5 years to do so. Forget about reaching second class, I probably stood a chance of reaching first class during that period.
Anyway, I was not 100% sure if my hypothesis was true or not, but I genuinely thought it was, so all I could do was reach that point and see whether I was right or not. I chose to use a big part of the last stretch of free time I had, to focus on working on my physical aspect since now was the time those would grow the fastest, and I was proven right.
By the end of the week, after just 5 days of focused training, I managed to raise my limit by a considerable amount across the whole board. My standard carry limit went from 6500 kg to 8200 kg, and my boosted carry limit rose from 24.017 kg to 28.800 kg.
My max speed rose from 310 km/h to 390 km/h in my regular state, and from 660 km/h to 820 km/h in my boosted state. Furthermore, the period I could keep that kind of speed up rise from 19 minutes to 23 minutes. While those increases may not sound that impressive to some people, it definitely was, especially since that was only the growth I experienced within 5 days of focused/intensive training.
I was certain that I still had some more growth in me before it began to slow down to a minimum. I did not mind that at all since I had grown used to the snail's pace I had to deal with before breaking through to Tier 3 due to reaching the limit of Tier 2.
It was also important to note that my improved endurance and hardiness were a big reason I was able to achieve those numbers. If not for that I would have hurt myself trying to lift stuff or while running at those speeds.
Regardless, I was in a great mood when I came back to the lab on Arcday and James even made a joke about me being too happy to be back to work. I just smiled and went right back into working down my new list of item combinations. I naturally discreetly and swiftly stored as well as took back out the items I had yet to "analyze" inside Utopia whenever they came up.
We were making slow but steady progress, but the successful evolution we were all hoping for did not happen. Before I knew it, it was already Dialday evening and I was clocking out for the day. I had agreed to meet up with Jessie for dinner, and I knew that her shift only ended at 7 p.m., so I made a brief stop at my room for a quick shower as well as a change of clothes.
I still made it to the PokeCenter she was working at with 15 minutes to spare, which I spent sitting in the lobby, my eyes closed and mind in Utopia, checking up on my Rattata. I had one of my idle thought streams keep an ear on my surroundings, so I stopped focusing on Utopia when Jessie approached me 20 minutes later.
We made a "short" 40 minutes stop at Jessica's dorm room so that she could freshen up and change as well, so it was 7:45 p.m. when we began heading to the restaurant. Still, the dinner was good and we walked around for some time after that while talking about this and that. I escorted her back to her dorm at around 10 p.m. It definitely was nice to occasionally go out to eat and hang out with one of my friends.
Unfortunately, I knew that Ace, Weiss, Rose, and Erza were currently even busier than I was, if that was possible, due to their practical year, so they did not really have all that much time to hang out. Yu was the same, but he was in Orre, so we could not have hung out anyway.
This meant that I mostly met up with Jessie or Kinji. Though I did meet up with the others on occasion as well. I met up with Yoruichi just last week when she paid me a visit for reaching Tier 3 as an Aura User.
I saw Misty about 3 or 4 months ago, and Wendy a bit after that. What can I say, we were all rather busy people. Ultimately, Kinji and Jessie were definitely the two friends I saw the most since I began my internship.
Anyway, after breakfast the next day, I began supervising the training of everyone in Utopia, and currently, I was watching Thor/Raichu battle against Tatsumaki/Alakazam as a form of training. They were both going all out, but both were under restrictions in the form of a gravity stone/bracelet/belt.
Thor's stone was applying 4 times gravity on him while they were fighting. He was literally using Quick Attack to move faster to make up for the increased gravity. Tastumaki was less impeded movement-wise since she was using Teleport as her main mode of movement.
Yet, she was still affected a lot because she was weaker physically than Thor and she was losing much more energy/stamina than he was even though her stone was only applying 3 times gravity to her.
Anyway, aside from running around to dodge attacks from Tatsumaki, Thor preferred to use long-range moves since those were easier to use against Tasumaki because she could teleport. He usually liked using Volt Tackle against others during gravity battles, but that was not a real option against a Teleporter for obvious reasons, so he had to stick to Thunderbolt, Thunder, and Discharge.
Still, both Tatsumaki and I were a bit surprised when Thor suddenly called for a stop since he usually kept going until he either won or was unable to move, whether that was due to loss of consciousness or being out of energy. Yet, he suddenly asked for a stop which was quite unusual, so we naturally went up to him to ask if everything was okay.
Even the audience came over to see if everything was alright since everyone knew that this was unusual for Thor. There were usually a few Pokemon watching whenever a battle was happening and they were free, so 7 ended up joining us at Thor's side at this moment.
Well, I certainly failed to see anything wrong, so I asked him if he was okay. Unlike what we were worried about, Thor was rather exuberant and he excitedly asked me to check his status screen. I was pretty sure a lot of us had the same thought at that moment.
I simply said sure before I took a look at his status screen and surprise, surprise, I ended up being right. He had completed his limit-breaking mid-battle, got the feeling of completeness in the heat of the moment, and decided to call for a stop out of excitement since he was more eager for a confirmation than he was for a victory.
When I told him that he was ready for his breakthrough he literally sparkled out of happiness. It had been around 2.5 years since he reached the (high) silver stage and evolved so I could understand his happiness. The others began to excitedly chatter as well, and I swiftly did the announcement.
We made our way over to Thor's area for his breakthrough and it did not take long for everyone interested to arrive after we did. They all tidily formed a circle around Thor and I joined them after giving the pep talk to Thor, who directly initiated his breakthrough after I gave him the thumbs up.
The whole process ended up going smoothly and as soon as the breakthrough was complete I went up to him to congratulate him on reaching the gold stage. He laughed happily when I did that and I saw his long tail swishing around energetically behind him, showing just how delighted Thor was.
I could not help but pat his head seeing his happiness. There were some sparkles, but all they did was cause a slight tingle, and his checks did release some more sparks when I scratched his scalp the way he liked.
Anyway, the others came over around that time, probably feeling that they had given us enough time, and I as usual used the time they were distracting Thor to check his new/updated status screen.

Well, his potential rose to Deep Purple and was pretty close to 40%, so that was awesome since it meant that he would definitely attain light aurora potential during his breakthrough to the dark gold stage, no matter what happened. Well, at least as long as he completed his limit-breaking.
Still, for now, deep purple was impressive enough, and he cheered when I shared his new potential with him. We had obviously known that he would reach this point after his breakthrough, but validation was always great, and hearing about it made him happy regardless of foreknowledge or not.
I saw no other change up until his parameter section. His psychic affinity was displayed as weak since it got upgraded from budding to weak a while ago, but that had nothing to do with his breakthrough.
As for his parameters, he was starting from the (mid) gold stage, and from the individual values, Thor was pretty much in the middle of the (mid) sub-stage. I'd probably see him reaching the (high) gold stage sometime during the third year of my internship.
Aside from that, there were no further changes caused by his breakthrough, so I focused back on everyone and gave them the declaration they were waiting for. I declared the start of Thor's celebration and I shared the news with everyone that had not come over for the breakthrough.
