Chapter 5: Blood lock ritual

Apart from the discovery of a fossil, of which I was very excited about, nothing really happened. Well other than the realization that both golisopod and kabutops have two very similar traits such as the water type, their main way of attack their devastating claws and the fact both look as though they adorn battle armor.

I don't really wanna specialize in a certain type but a general theme make for a badass theme. Mine will be armored pokemon I guess. Better than a group of strong pokemon that have no synergy I plan on jumping mother fuckers and robbing their rich family's blind once I get fast enough to pull off any of my many plots for heists.

What? Don't look at me like some criminal I haven't even done the crime... yet. Anyways nothing of note happened on the walk back to camp, my camp of course I wasn't bringing a fossil into that camp filled with rich snobs, it would painting a target on my back in the sake of flexing. Not a lot of people could get there hands on fossils because not many knew where to look. It would be like raising a sign in the air saying " Rob me with your servants and drop my body in the ocean while I sleep" and I am personally way too paranoid to do that.

The only reason that I found is that I was looking for water pokemon that I might be able to convince to teach Wimpod how to effectively use his water typing, and a damp cave near the shore was a last ditch effort. Guess I was lucky.

I think it's about time I up the training a bit before 'that' ceremony is held and everyone else will start to advance in strength and I'm damn sure not gonna be some low placing bozo. I'm gonna either win or start robbing people early!

The final day before the tournament starts.

All of the class was called by our home room teacher, the hot headed Mr.Johnson, to be at the main camp by 5 am sharp.

Knowing for a fact that I didn't think to prepare one of extremely primitive alarm clocks in my bag, I said fuck it and just stayed up all night and using the bootleg sundial I created I got there on time.

It wasn't even really a sundial but more of a stick in the stand with numbers around it. But eh it worked didn't it?

Turning your attention away from my crude sundial, today is probably the most important day of my school career other than the graduation of course. Here on the Alolan islands traditions and rituals are ingrained in the educational program. Some have actual importance while others are really only kept going for the sake of tradition.

This ceremony belongs to the first category: in fact probably the most important for my journey. Today is the day the blood lock ceremony. It's purpose is to one, give a deeper connection to both trainer and pokemon, secondly, it gives a boost in power to the duo at the same time.

And you may be thinking how in the hell locking with a mere human could boost a pokemon well short answer, humans contain an abundance of neutral energy that is practically impossible for us to control like a pokemon. The way that the ceremony works is that both me and Wimpod will trade energy.

I give him extra energy to link us mentally and spiritually which turns out can make something people like to call battle bonds in Kalos. Yeah you ready that correctly. Pokemon with deep enough bond with their trainers can enter a battle bond but enough about that.

While I give em extra energy for him to change into other moves he couldn't use before. And for my end of the trade he gives me two things, one: a sample of both bug and water energy so that I can start moving my energy similarly and use weaker moves of that type and two, I can manifest a weapon that is created with my pokemons essence.

And for top trainers it can result in a battle bond and form change for both trainer and pokemon. Resulting in a pretty powerful duo. And all of that down the road badassness depends on how this ceremony will go.

So understandably when I got there most of the other 12 year olds were too nervous to speak. And I can't blame em ether: I was just as nervous but even more excited than anything.

"Each and every one of you aspire for greatness, and this will be your first step." Mr.Johnsohn announced." Today both you and your pokemons flames of ambition and waters of determination will intertwine and ascend to new heights. This ritual will meld you and your pokemons very souls and create a life long bond impossible to replicate. Let your hearts become one and climb towards the peak of your potential together, as equals. From here on both you and your partner will forever be linked and forever have the duty to protect and battle alongside your pokemon. Know this now children, today is the start of your journey to the pinnical and if you can't handle the climb you will stay as the average be forgotten from history and your legacy swallowed whole by the legends of those who made the climb to the top. I hope you take these words seriously as it is now time to undergo the ritual and grab the knife that will let you carve yourself into history!"

His passionate speech had the right effect and created a resounding aura of excitement and determination for the future. It gave me goosebumps to know everything he just said was true: this power is what makes the strongest trainers the strongest. This was my path to the future.

Soon enough the sun started coming up signaling for us to begin the ceremony. I sat comfortably with my knees on a small ceremonial mat, in front of me sat a bowl filled with a green liquid and sat behind the bowl was my partner, looking at me with flamboyant ambition in his eyes.

I pick the bowl up to my mouth and drink about half of it. This liquid is a concoction of berries will weaken the physical defense of both a person and pokemon. It was unnecessary for the human to drink it because most pokemon could easily draw blood but it was a sign of trust that showed both pokemon and trainer were in a vulnerable state. It was necessary for a pokemon because anything less sharp then steel is getting through Wimpods carapace.

After I put the bowl down Wimpod drank the rest from it. I bowed my head to Wimpod as he lightly dragged his claw across my forehead. After he was finished I ignored the stinging sensation on my head and dragged the small obsidian dagger across his forehead, a bit above his eyes.

I closed my eyes and brought my wound towards Wimpods wound. As the two connected I let my blood flow into his and his blood into mine.

I could feel it, the link traded a quarter of my neutral energy for about half that of water and bug type energy enter my system. Next was the mental link, I tried to send my thoughts to Wimpod.{Wimpod, can you here me?} Right after Wimpod answered almost instantly, { loud and clear Jax! And now that you can understand me my names not Wimpod, it's...
