Chapter 197: Dialga and Palkia
Droplets of water fell on Aoki's face, making him open his eyes. The first thing he noticed was a purple sky that seemed to have no end.
Aoki found himself standing in a hallway similar to the Temple of Arceus, but now there were tall pillars that stretched toward the endless sky.
There was a gentle golden light that illuminated the surroundings.
"This must be a dream," Aoki concluded since he could not use his dark aura.
Moreover, neither Cynthia nor Darkrai were present with him.
Aoki looked around for a while but couldn't find anything noteworthy, except for the Unknown tattoo on his hand asking him to move forward.
As he moved forward, his heartbeat became faster, as if his body could tell something dangerous was up ahead.
The more he moved, the golden light started to fade, getting replaced by darkness.
At one point, there was no light anymore, making Aoki halt his steps.
Aoki had been using dark aura for a year, which had changed his body, so even without it, he could tell that there were two other entities present with him.
Two sets of red eyes lit up on either side of him.
"Welcome, traveler from the main world!" a majestic voice came from his left side as the surroundings lit up, revealing two giant Pokémon about twenty meters tall.
It was a dark-blue, sauropod-like Pokémon with some gray metallic portions and light blue stripes. It had a chest plate on its torso, which had a deep blue diamond-like crystal embedded in the center.
It was Dialga, one of the creation trio.
A platform of light formed below Aoki, lifting him to the eye level of the two Pokémon.
"Sigh! Why did you speak without waiting, Dialga? Didn't we agree to speak together?" the voice from Aoki's right spoke up.
It was a light-purple, theropod-like Pokémon with stripes and markings of a darker shade and gray underarms and waist. It had round purple-striped plates on its shoulder area, where two pink pearl-like crystals lie encrusted with a gray rim encircling them, and fin-like wings on its back.
It was Palkia, one of the creation trio alongside Dialga.
"Sorry, sorry, I got too excited seeing a human after so long," Dialga said with humor in his voice.
"Don't do that again, I want the spotlight too!" Palkia said.
Seeing the two creation trio quarrel like that completely shattered the image Aoki had in mind of them.
"Ahem! If you two are done discussing, would you mind explaining where am I and how are you two alive?" Aoki asked.
"You seem to have knowledge about us humans. Tell me what do you know about us!" Palkia tried making an intimidating face but failed miserably, making Dialga burst into laughter.
"I have to speak first, it appears… whatever is fine by me.
My name is Aoki Gunhildr, a user of Dark Aura."
"What! Dark aura users are still alive?! I told you, Palkia, that power will not disappear from Earth," Dialga exclaimed.
"Stop interrupting and let the human speak!" Palkia roared.
"Continuing where I left off, I am the only dark aura user tasked by Mew to stop Giratina from destroying the world.
So I am creating an army to stop him.
So far, I have three of Giratina's retainers, some legendaries, and about a hundred Pokémon under my command…" Aoki completed his story, adding everything he knew about the narrative so far.
"You are chosen to do WHAT?!
Even Arceus failed with us fighting against him!" Palkia screamed in horror.
"Alright, alright, I will do the explanation, we have a lot to talk about.
Let's start from the first…
There was a creature that ruled over the dimensions and worlds that he created.
He was named Phanes with the power of chaos," Dialga said.
Hearing the name Phanes, Aoki remembered that it was the name Giratina had taken in his human form.
"One day, a different creature equally powerful invaded the space of Phanes and wanted to take over the territory of Phanes.
The creature was Arceus with the power of origin.
Both of them fought for an undefined amount, and Arceus came out victorious, but Phanes was too strong to kill.
Killing him would collapse all the dimensions and worlds.
One of Arceus' powers was to absorb and use others' abilities.
Absorbing Phanes' power, Arceus divided Phanes into three parts - Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, hoping to control them to rule.
He erased almost all life forms on Giratina's planets and created his own life forms. Many of these life forms could manipulate chaos, origin, and even both, getting the name dark aura users.
Arceus was severely weakened after everything and decided to go into a long slumber, leaving everything to his creations.
But Arceus severely underestimated the will of Phanes as he regained his memories in Giratina.
Giratina recreated an army and restarted the war against Arceus, who had just woken up from slumber and hadn't recovered his powers yet.
I, Palkia at that time didn't know the real truth and assumed that Arceus was our father, so we fought against Giratina.
This war could be said as a draw, as Arceus, I, and Palkia all lost our lives, but we managed to separate a part of our consciousness and hide in different dimensions that Giratina cannot enter.
Since neither I, Palkia, Arceus nor Giratina have complete control over space-time, many species like Arceus or Phanes invaded the dimensions or worlds and created gates between them.
The dimension you entered now is one such dimension.
The stronger the gate is, the more equal the time is in both worlds, but as they go far, the time difference is different.
Until a few days ago, the world was closely connected, making the time difference almost equal, but after you entered the gate shattered, making a few months here into a few days in your world," Dialga said.
"The unknown that attached itself to your body gave you access to travel through the dimensions.
You are not the first one to enter this space, as almost two decades ago, two humans named Red and Blue entered this dimension accidentally.
If you wish to go back home, you need to find and control the creature and remake the gate," Palkia said.
"Just that? You wouldn't give me any advice on how to fight Giratina?" Aoki asked.
Hearing this, Dialga and Palkia looked at each other for a few seconds before turning to Aoki.
"See, Aoki… we are just a part of our former self and can hardly maintain this dimension.
Currently, time is running out, but we promise you that if you can find a way to reconnect the two dimensions, we will give you something that will help you against Giratina," Dialga said.
"Until next time, Aoki…" Palkia said as Aoki's vision started going dark.
The last thing he saw before it went completely dark was a white creature with two pairs of wings.
