Chapter 2: Ch 2

Jesse was breathing heavily once he reached the home of the Daycare man and his wife. The old couple was standing outside their home waiting with patient smiles for Jesse to slowly walk along with his bike over to them. "Right on time! Hehe, you didn't have to rush young one, we aren't going anywhere!" The daycare man said to Jesse while giving a small chuckle at how exhausted Jesse was. "Here, why don't you come inside and have a cup of tea before we start teaching you how to care for some of the pokemon we have." his wife said, gesturing for Jesse to come with them inside their home.

"Thank you, miss." Jesse laid his bike down on the ground next to the door before taking off his shoes and entering their house. It was a small one-story house that felt cozy. There were only 4 rooms in total, one being the bedroom, another serving as the living room with just a couch and a coffee table, one being the bathroom, and the last room was a large kitchen. Jesse followed the old couple to the living room where they guided him to sit on the couch while the daycare lady walked over to the kitchen to grab the kettle that held their morning tea.

They all sat at the coffee table taking a few a sips of tea before the old daycare man broke the silence. "Alright, well, once you finish your tea, we'll get started by introducing you to some of the pokemon trainers have left for us to care for before we move on to some of the pokemon we raise in fields." The daycare man smiled and handed over a small notebook that held names and pictures of the pokemon currently being cared for.

Jesse flipped through the pages excitedly looking at all the different kinds of pokemon that the Daycare couple cared for. Once he was finished just skimming through the pages looking at the pictures of all the pokemon he quickly took several sips of his tea to finish it.

The daycare lady covered her mouth as she gave a small chuckle. "You don't have to rush, the pokemon aren't going anywhere." The old couple seemed to like saying that phrase, that they weren't going anywhere so there was no need to rush. The daycare lady grabbed Jesse's cup along with her husband's and her own and headed to the kitchen to wash them.

"Alright, well then, let's get started, Jesse." The daycare man stood up and walked to the back of their house. Jesse stood to follow him, making sure to grab his backpack that still his Oshowatt that had been looking around excitedly the entire time from inside the large back pocket. That was his favorite spot so it held little items to help keep Oshowatt more comfortable like his favorite little blanket that he holds as he sleeps. Along with a small stuffed shell that he liked to use to hit Jesse with instead of with the shell on his chest.

Jesse followed the daycare man out the back entrance to a small closed-off field that held a variety of pokemon that were doing various things. Some were playing with each other, some were sleeping in the shades of some trees, some were just running around with their energetic energy. Some were sitting next to the door and were startled when they exited the house. A large Stoutland bounded over to the daycare man almost toppling him over.

"Hahaha, this is my friend Akira, he helps me to guard and take care of all the pokemon trainer's leave with us." Hearing his name, Akira gave a loud deep bark acknowledging his name. Jesse felt a bit scared at first seeing such a large dog pokemon charging at them the moment they left the house but calmed down once he saw that he was harmless and was just looking for attention from the daycare man. Jesse looked at all the pokemon and felt the excitement building up within him at the prospect of taking care of all these pokemon along with nervousness. A small Sewaddle waddled over from a tree root to Jesse's leg. Jesse bent down to give him some head pats and the Sewaddle made little cries of its name letting him know that he enjoyed the head pats.

Jesse no longer felt as nervous seeing this little Sewaddle was so nice and cute. He slowly picked him up and held him in his arms as he followed the daycare man as he pointed out the different pokemon that were around inside the massive pen. Once they were done looking around at some of the pokemon that trainers had left, the daycare man led him to a gate that led them to a much larger area of fields, that went farther than the eye could see. "This is where we raise our personal pokemon along with some larger pokemon that can't fit in the smaller pen. As well as the more mean pokemon that don't like interacting with other pokemon."

Jesse saw a flock of Pidoves flying over the field and a massive Seismitoad sleeping partially in a large pond of to the side of the vast field. small Tympoles were flopping around the Seismitoad as he slept and other water pokemon were careful to skirt around him so as to not arouse him from his slumber. Jesse looked off to the other side of the field to see a large forest that could already be seen to be holding various bug pokemon including a Scolipede that stared at Jesse from the darkness before turning around and heading deeper into the forest.

"Well, as you can see, we take care of a lot of pokemon and were not going to just throw you into all of this at once so we are going to start with something a little tamer. Plant pokemon. They are a little easier to raise and are generally more mild-mannered so it should be a good beginner course for you." Jesse nodded along with what the daycare man said, still staring with eyes full of wonder at all the various pokemon in the field.

Author's Note:

Welp, there's the second chapter. Make sure to tell me what you guys think of the story and what sort of things you like about it so I can know what to focus on. Since school is starting soon I won't really be updating normally so don't expect a schedule but the goal is at least a chapter a week since I'm writing these off the top of my head. I'll eventually make a more concrete line that I want to follow but for now, it will be a little messy as I just type as I think. So yeah, I hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading.
