Chapter 4: Viridian City
Ash and Misty finally arrived at their destination. A city bustling of people and pokemons mostly Kanto Pokemons, making the city lively and vibrant.
As the two young ones admiring the beauty of Viridian City. Three individuals lurking around.
"Hey, Jessie and James will the boss kill the three of us if we don't find what he wants?" A scratchy voice sounded inside the alley way.
"Don't make it sound terrifying Meowth, Boss will not dispose of us if we find unique pokemon." A deep voice replied.
"The boss will reward us if we find one." A feminine voice followed suit. "Don't worry meowth, We'll surely find one.... Like for example that Pikachu on that boy shoulder."
"Yes, like that pikachu on the boy's shoulder." The deep voice agreeing to his feminine partner.
"Ah! James and Jessie your amazing. You found one already." When the scratchy voice look at where the girl is pointing. It exclaimed loudly. Shocking the two who didn't realise what they've done.
But due to their high pride. "Of course we are amazing meowth, right James?"
"Yes we are amazing, Jessie."
"Wohohohohohoh" The feminine voice laughed like a noble lady. Her male counterpart also laughed with her.
Meowth watch the duo for a bit before formulating a plan. He was the boss favorite is what meowth thought. But, He also doubts. He is a smart meowth, He can talk like no other meowth out there. He worked hard to reach what he is today. Thinking he was just a nobody back in the past, Stealing food from humans because he was hungry and no one wanted him.
Determination filled in his eyes. 'This time for sure, Boss will bring me again to his side.'

Ash and Misty arrived at the pokemon center after strolling around the city for a bit. Ash wanted to see the city and ask Misty to come with him, which she accepted.
"Welcome. How can I help you?" A soothing gentle voice greeted them.
"Chansey." A cute pink chubby pokemon was right next to girl also greeted them.
"Oh, Hello Nurse joy. We would like to get a room for the two of us." Ash requested.
"Two rooms?" Nurse joy asked.
Ash look at Misty who replied to nurse joy. "No, just one is enough."
"Is it okay with you Misty?" Ash asked probing as Nurse Joy was eyeing Ash which made him nervous.
"What are you talking about Ash, we already sleep together every night, this is no different." Misty replied to Ash but puzzled why Ash is seemed against the idea of the two sharing a room.
The piercing gaze from Nurse Joy is already terrifying. Ash decided to become oblivious to her gaze and nodded.
"Then one room it is. Are the two of you Trainer by chance?"
Both nodded and handed Nurse Joy their pokeballs and Pikachu. They might have already rested well in their poke balls. But it's better for them to rest in Pokemon Center.
"Is that all?" She asked again.
"Yes there is. I want to register the upcoming Indigo league." Ash said as he handed her his Pokedex.
Nurse Joy took the pokedex and processed it on her machine. "Let's see, Ash Ketchum from pallet town. You're a new trainer!" Nurse Joy shockingly exclaimed. Like Misty, She was surprised, Ash wanted to join the League that would start 5 months later. She thought he would only last at preliminary rounds.
After all, The people registered has years of experience as a trainer.
Seeing Nurse Joy surprised by his status. Ash wryly smiled. They really underestimate him too much. Well, their doubts are reasonable in the first place. They don't know he have past life memories that was very helpful to him.
Ash and Misty took the key that Nurse Joy handed to them. She then handed his Pokedex back to him
"Misty can you go up first. I have to call Professor." Ash said to Misty.
Misty nodded and took the elevator to go up. Ash then strode towards the computer right next to reception window. This computer is also used to transfer poke ball if you want to switch your pokemon. Ash don't know how that works though, he was amazed by the technology of this world.
He type the address of Professor Oak and waited for a bit until the Old Man pick up the call. On the screen, As usual Professor Oak wearing his Lab coat appears.
"Hello Professor."
"Oh, Hey Ash, I say you arrive at Viridian City."
"Yes Professor I've manage to arrive safely."
"That's great to hear. How many pokemons did you capture?"
"I've captured 3 pokemons respectively, Spearow, Poliwag and guess what I caught professor....." Ash excitedly talk about his experience this past few days with Professor Oak. When the Old man hear Ash manage to catch a Shiny pidgey and not only that but saw a majestic Ho-oh, The professor was wearing a dumbfounded expression.
"Ash, you're like is sky high. To think you catch a shiny pokemon but to able to see a the legendary pokemon, Ho-oh. I swear Arceus favors you." Professor praised Ash.
"Thanks Professor. By the way Professor, when did leaf started her journey. I want to meet her if possible."
"Oh, Little Leaf. She just started Yesterday. She'll arrive in Viridian soon."
"So fast!?" Ash loudly exclaimed. It took him a week to arrive but Leaf will arrive sooner, which she just started Yesterday.
"We'll she wanted to meet you as soon as possible. She took a ride with Officer Jenny."
"Oh I see." Ash nodded in understanding. But in his mind, He was in bliss. 'Leaf clearly likes me. She didn't even try to hide it. Though, what would happen if she saw Misty, will she get Jelly? I can't wait to see her pout and become tsuntsun.'
While Ash was daydreaming. Professor repeatedly call his name.
"Ash, Ash, Ash can you hear me. Did it broke." Professor Oak slap the machine with thud, waking Ash from his daydream. He was slight embarrassed for showing such idiotic face.
"Ahem! Yes Professor I can hear you loud and clear." Ash hurriedly replied to the professor before the old man broke the machine from banging his hand on it. Poor Machine, thought Ash.
"Anyway, Ash I have a information about Pewter City gym leader, He is called Brock and he uses rock type pokemon. I suggest you to train your Poliwag and catch some grass type pokemon. Pikachu cannot inflict much damage to rock type pokemon." Professor Oak started giving Ash an Advice which Ash considerably agreed.
Pikachu won't be able to, but not his Pikachu. Ash remembered from his past life memories that in Flint, Brock's father, would help him power upping pikachu using a hydroelectric dam. Enhancing Pikachu's thunder.
"Thanks, Professor." Ash said his goodbye.
Ash took the elevator. He then walk towards his and Misty's room. Before he got up though, he asked Nurse Joy to call them if a girl named, Leaf is searching for him.
Which made Ash sweated, when Nurse Joy look at him with eyes he couldn't handle. She might think he is a playboy at his age.
Ash didn't know whether to laugh or cry. His image started to crumble. He wanted to be become a Pokemon Master not Harem Master for goodness sake.
Knocking on the door. Misty opened it and greeted Ash.
"Hey Ash, Are you done?"
"Yeah." Ash tiredly nodded. He put his bag down.
"Misty, My friend wanted to accompany us on our journey." Ash suddenly said to Misty."She's called, Leaf, she's my childhood friend. She wanted to come with me but stayed at pallet town for a few days before she left. She should arrive tomorrow."
"Oh really? I want to meet her." Enthusiastically said by Misty. Knowing they would have new companion, it excites her, especially it's a girl. She wanted to have girl friend and talk about girly things. She look tomboyish, that's what her sisters called her and told her to have a girl as a friend.
Ash watch Misty in joy, he smiled. He was overthinking when he thought she would get jealous. Misty is too innocent for that kind of thing. This is why Ash is afraid of tainting her. If it was the Old Ash, The two would be too oblivious about each other.
Shaking his head. Ash laid on bed exhausted from mental fatigue. He open his palm and saw the round thingy, he didn't know what it is. It didn't do anything special. He just ignore it most of the time. After all, it would disappear when he grab an object.
Ash decided not to focus on it. He formulate a training plan of Pikachu. He didn't want to lose on his first gym battle. That's why he needs to train hard.
He still has a long way ahead.
"Ash, I'll shower first." Misty look at Ash and saw him laying on bed.
"Alright. Call me if you're done." Ash replied lazily.
That night, even though there were two beds, Misty insisted to sleep next to Ash. Her reason, His shoulders is comfy.

Waking up feeling refreshed. Ash sat up on the bed and watch Misty snoring quietly. He didn't wake her up this time and let her sleep more.
Ash changed to his casual attire, preparing to go down to pick up his and Misty's Pokemon balls and Pikachu.
Nurse Joy greeted him with gentle voice. She handle him his pokemon ball.
"Pikachu." Ash called his partner who saw him.
The little guy jump on his shoulders again.
"Pika!" Pikachu cried out happily. Seeing his trainer again. Last night, He was lonely inside his pokeball.
Ash rub Pikachu's head and scratch behind his ears. He was happy to see Pikachu again.
Nurse Joy also handed him, Misty's Pokeballs.
After that Ash go back to his room and put Misty's Pokebelt on the table. He watch as the lazy red head girl was still sleeping soundly. He looks at the time and wryly smile.
He decided to buy a breakfast. Such gentleman he is. Ash goes back down and prepared to go out but was greeted by something made his eyebrow twitch.
'Ah Yes, The ever annoying Team Rocket.' Ash cursed in his mind. This trio have a sad background history and he pitied them but remembering they constantly follow him throughout the journey, bothering him again and again. Ash felt a headache coming.
"Prepare for trouble!" Ah yes the usual introductory lines they have. Sounds great but when hearing it again and again it become more annoying.
"Meowth That's right!" A bipedal talking meowth ended the scene.
The people inside the the Pokemon Center look at trio with astounded expressions. Nurse Joy wryly smiled and approached the trio and said.
"You three, Please don't cause any ruckus inside the Pokemon Center."
"We are here to steal pokemon. Go Ekans!" The lady with ridiculous red color hairstyle throw out her pokemon.
"Koffing I choose you!" The male with shoulder length hair throw out his pokemon.
"Koffing use Smokescreen!"
"Ekans use Wrap on that Pikachu!"
The Pokemon center quickly turn into battle zone. Ash was already prepared for this. As Ekans successfully wrap around Pikachu.
'Not a good move.' Ash thought.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded.
"Pikachuuuuu!"
Ekans was zapped by Pikachu until it passed out. Returning to it's owner's pokeball. Unable to see anything, Jessie was shocked her Ekans returned to her.
Suddenly all the pokemon and Pokeball was wrapped by a net. Causing the owners of the pokeballs and Pokemon to cry out. Ash was simply gobsmack by this people's incompetence. Ash didn't think about but watch as the Meowth Balloon rising with many pokemon inside the net.
He throw his pokeball. "Pidgey your turn. Use Air slash on that rope."
Ash pointed towards the Meowth balloon. The net was released, thankfully it wasn't high to injure the pokemon. .
Seeing their plan failed. Team Rocket grumble from frustration. They thought, Ash was just a kid who can't do anything.
"Pikachu, Thunderbolt on that balloon."
Ash watch the Meowth Balloon rose high enough and commanded pikachu.
*BOOM!*
The Balloon exploded as the trio went up to the sky until the sky twinkles. Ash laugh mildly, the usual thingy, He thought.
Team Jessie, James and Meowth is very easy to handle but the problem is, the boss of team rocket. Giovanni, who was also the gym leader of this City.
Shaking his head, Ash knew he still weak o handle that big problem. He clenched his hand into fist and resolve himself to become more stronger. He then got out from Pokemon Center to buy some breakfast for both, Misty and His.
