Chapter 8: Making friends (2/2) [8]

"The other kids are too loud and anoyying". Gary shivers. "It's like they are trying to one up each other in noise it's disgusting with all the drool. You don't seem to be the loud type, uhh".
Grabbing a piece of candy from my pocket I extend my hand in front of Gary. Gary taking the candy from my hand nods and starts to enjoy the flavour. "Just call me Green, wanna be friends?" I say with a wide smile
Gary hearing this has a contemplative look but soon after responds. "Sure! Just call me Gary."

Gary and Colson after getting to know each other more start to laugh and make fun of each other. They talked about both of their favourite colours, obviously both of them liking green and blue respectively.
The types of food they both loved and hated, the conversation was a pretty fun one and for the first time after reincarnating into the Pokemon world Colson has connected with someone and without knowing made a friendship that would last a life time!
"Hey Gary got any Pokemon as pets?" I asked curious to see if he had any pets knowing there were a lot of Pokemon at the branch.
Gary quickly responds in a bragging tone. "Yeah my grandpa got me a growlith, It's super strong and is easy to command!"
I'm not sure what made me retort to his bragging tone but maybe me being reborn into a child made me more childish I quickly retort. "Well I'm getting a Deino just before the academy!'
Gary hearing this looks at me in a confused manner. Picking up on this I explain to him what a Deino is. "Deino is a dragon/dark type which evolves into a psudo-legendary Pokemon!"
This sentence shocks Gary widening his eyes, with his grandpa being a Pokemon Professor about Pokemon & Human Relationships Gary sometimes reads his grandpas notes and one of the hardest types to handle are dragons being first and dark being third respectively.
Gary getting out of his stupor proceeds to ask if it's really safe to have a Deino as a pet Pokemon in a worried voice.
Colson quickly explains how his dad is an ex-gym leader for the dark type gym and had a Hydreigon. His father promised him that he would help raise the Deino so he is able to have it as a party member for the Galar league in the future.
"That's so cool! Your dads a gym leader!" Gary says with stars in his eyes. "His Pokemon must be extremely strong".
"My dad's Hydreigon is the only Pokemon I've seen from my dad's main team" I say nodding my head. "I haven't seen too many Pokemon before because I mostly stay at home, can I go see your Growlith?"
I ask wanting to see one of Gary's future Pokemon. "Yeah we can go visit right now! My house isn't too far from here but we will need to ask your dad first!"
Gary says wanting to show off his Pokemon.
After asking permission from my dad which he accepted knowing who Gary's care takers are we set off for Growlith!
I've noticed that Gary is a very intelligent person. He responds with complex words and is always able to see and draw conclusions easily. When we had a chat about our dreams he said he wanted to be a Professor and become the most well known Professor.
Gary seems to be very detached about being a trainer but doesn't despise it. He likes hanging out and training Pokemon in general, but Pokemon battling Gary says isn't his forte. In the anime Gary was a very smart trainer who took great care of his Pokemon.
I've realised the reason he is a bit distant from the other kids and is some what smug is because he tries to make people remember him as Gary and not Professor Oaks's grandson.
Which makes sense, no one wants to be in the shadows of their parents and constantly being called someones grandson and not your real name can annoy a person.
Both me and Gary now walk towards his house I take the opportunity to try and sway his decision on what to mainly focus his research on to hopefully get some of his research data when we are older.
"Gary I think you should try to be the first Professor that focuses on a Pokemons core and type energy, It's a topic well known but not explored enough so research about it would be ground breaking!" I say in my best informative voice making Gary nod.
"That's a good idea Colson, I've never heard of a Professor researching anything about the most important thing about a Pokemon!" Colson seeing Gary hum to himself starts to evilly cackle in his head.
Gary and I now in front of the house get greeted by a beautiful girl called Daisy Blue Oak!
"Hey Gary!" Daisy says in a cheerful tone. But not long after realises another person is here. "And who is your new friend over here?" Daisy says in a teasing manner.
Gary having none of it says "I made a friend unlike a certain someone!" Gary shouts running towards the backyard while grabbing my hand dragging me through the living room all the way to the back yard.
'Damn Gary is a chad'. I think to myself.
Making it to the back yard running we both stopped to take a breather after the stunt Gary pulled.
"My Growlith is over here!" Gary says excitedly speed walking to the dog house with me quickly following him from the back with numb legs.
The rest of the day was spent with me and Gary playing around with Growlith chasing us. We both had a short encounter with Professor Oak dropping by and going again.
I didn't expect playing with a Growlith and Gary would be so fun. Just ignoring everything and just enjoying my time with my new friend. Hopefully this friendship lasts forever
Now nearing night time my father picks me up, now saying good bye to Gary we both promised to hangout every week end. Saturdays at his house and Sundays at mine with us both having a little picnic near the ranch where all the friendly Pokemon in the lab are!
