Chapter 11: Chapter 11 The Ruins
We had been falling for quite some time now. After the hole caused by Venassur, we fell through the hole. Sakaki and the others pulled out their flying types and flew out of there while the grunts who didn't have the flying type were left.
I guess no need for dead weight huh?
We too were left here.
I looked at Jack his face had ripples caused by the air force
" Hey, do you have any Flying type please I don't wanna die " Jack shouted over the air his voice had to fear inside it.
" For the Tenth time, I don't have any flying types or Physic types " I shouted
but what I did had was Golett and him being a ghost type and having the move Gravity can be exploited
I looked at the grunts far away from us they had already resigned to their fate they had a dead look in their eyes.
The cavern started to widen
I noticed this and pulled out Golett from his ball
Golett appeared with a flash but when he saw that he was in mid-air and started panicking falling his arms around.
" hey calm down rock head " I shouted
He looked at me and froze but this made him fall faster than us. I looked at him in disbelief
" Hey do what you were going before " I yelled in a panic not wanting him to be broken like a doll
" Now use gravity on us. use it to lighten us " I yelled looking around the cavern had widened extensively
Golett concentrated for a second then a large pink bubble shaped around us the bubble was a bit unstable but it started to solidify and the gravity started to lessen up a bit and our speed too decreased
I looked at Jack who had calmed down now and was looking at me
" See I saved you " I yelled
He nodded but muttered something to himself
as we entered the dark cavern the view was breathtaking. even in the dark, I could see a large ruined city it almost looked familiar with a large palace jutting from the centre. The city almost looked like Asgard from MCU. with golden buildings and other residential areas.
We landed on the outskirts of the city near the cavern wall. the buildings around us were ruined and had blood on the streets.
We landed softly on the pathway
" Umm hey Grey can you see anything " I looked at grey as he stumbled his way towards me
I frowned to myself. I could see perfectly fine in the cavern. yes, the cavern was very dark but it wasn't that dark.
" No I can't "I answered
" Oh I thought it was just me " he fumbled his way to his belt and called his incineroar.
The large cat appeared. he was a little bruised but otherwise fine. he blinked for a bit but then his eyes started glowing green.
" Incineroar use ember on your hand " Jack commanded Incineroar nodded and lit his hands to act as a flame source
I turned to Golett
" Hide in my shadow and alert if you notice any presence and do tell if you notice the Grunt's bodies that were with us " I ordered
Golett saluted like a solider and blended in my shadows
I looked at Jack who was gasping at the scene in front of us
" Well we have to find a way out of here," I said placing my hand on Jack's shoulder
This was unexpected to find a city hidden below Riverside was a miracle and the knowledge that this place could have was too substantial.
what we were here was not for Knowledge of artefacts but to escape from here.
We made our way into the street. The City was a rare found but nothing to be shocked about. Many many centuries ago an ancient civilisation was said to reside in this world at that time humans were not this intelligent to form pokeballs but the civilisation had already formed Pokeballs. the civilisation had stepped as far as to incorporate Pokemon in new technology but then the people had reached out far to make a ball capable of harnessing legendary they had gone so far as to try to capture Dialga but Arceus had struck them down and had passed a judgement on them to be cast away from these lands.
I looked around the ruins. The buildings were ruined but I could see rotten tables and equipment
a pair of eyes glowed out of the shop then the lights revealed a Bronzong huddled over some tables.
I motioned Jack to quietly follow me
We took an hour to reach the palace's outer circle in that time I took out my Toxel and trained him to fight the local Grass types like Hoppip, Sunkern and Cherubi.
while Jack trained his Pawaniard. Pawniard is a small, bipedal Pokemon with a vaguely beetle-like appearance. It has a rounded red and black head with a silvery blade extending from the front. Its face is grey with yellow eyes. Four steel spikes protrude from its black torso, two on each side connected by steel ribs. It has red arms that end with knife-like blades instead of hands, which it regularly sharpens with its favourite sharping stones found by rivers. It also has red legs with two white toes located on both sides of each foot. When hunting, Pawniard immobilizes prey by repeated stabbing with these blades after clipping onto them. It then clangs the two blades together afterwards.
We made our way into the armoury and found a pot of oil and rags.
This was for the latter part of the journey while the area did have a lot of darkness what was unsettling was the howls which occasionally came out of the centre. I had asked Golett multiple times about the grunts but he had not sensed any death presence or living one.
I was worried about Gerninja he had fainted for about an hour now. The pokeball does stabilise the condition of a Pokemon but the consciousness cannot be suppressed and a prolonged period of being fainted can cause damage to the brain
After some time we reached a large domed building the building was finely made almost like a palace It must be the King's palace the Quartz stairs in front of the palace we walked up the stairs during this time I had seen multiple figures running around by this time.
We entered the Palace by opening the large wooden doors. the scene inside was not what I expected.
The hall was huge with high ceilings with art on the roof. the hall was large too with high-back chairs on both sides and a large golden throne. but what I didn't expect were bodies on the chairs and the throne.
Rotten bodies of old. The bodies were nothing more than Skeleton with gaping mouths and luxurious clothes.
I pulled out a torch from the side and poured oil into the canister below the torch and pieces of dipped rag on top. I placed the torch head in the blazing hands of the incineroar.
With a splutter the torch caught fire illuminating the room
Jack recalled Incineroar.
" Get some rest buddy " He whispered to the pokeball as he placed it on his belt
I adjusted my mask the air inside was dusty and stank of rot
" Look around for any signs of an exit but be careful," I told Jack as I inspected a noble in the chair
" Yeah I go check while you raid " Jack sarcastically spoke
I gave him a piercing look then went to inspect the Throne
What I noticed was that none of the people had any signs of struggle or injury either they died of poison or something else.
while a poison couldn't kill instantly and a person could notice its effects before death let us just say that you are in a crowd and you all drank from a pot or are at the same table and then suddenly a person among you falls dead. A basic first instinct will be to help and after some time you will think about the cause of the death by that time people will try to run to a doctor or something but these people looked like they died at the same time.
I checked the 'king' and to my surprise, I found the same things as others splatters on the inside of the skull.
But just as I lifted the skull the gold band on the skull fell off with a pop
I cringed as the band struck the floor with a sharp sound and bend down to pick the band on instinct.
The crown was a simple golden band thin and simple with no decoration I picked it up inspecting it.
Boom. Boom.BOOOM
A loud sound came from the right wing of the palace
When I was not looking the golden band flowed white with nonexistent runes and glowed red then melt and morphed around my wrist.
I fell as a sudden pain invaded my senses. it was as if a hot brand was inscribed on my arm. The pain was burning me and just as it came it stopped.
I was left on the ground as I tried to claw the band out of my hand with a huff I stood up.
A screen sounded again from the right wing of the palace and this time I knew who it was I picked up the large golden rod from the throne and ran towards the sound with Toxel on my head.
It was Jack on the floor when I saw him His form was surrounded by blood and Incineroar slumped near the wall.
