Chapter 109: Chapter 109
"This an Official Gym Match between the Challenger, Aizen, representing Blanc Island, and the Neon City Gym Leader, Kold Rays." The referee called out after setting up the match on the Pokedex. "This will be a 3v3 Match with standard rules. The only exception is the substitution rule for the Gym Leader, where he is not allowed to switch his Pokemon. Do you have any questions?" He asked Aizen.
"No." He calmly said and glanced at the stands.
The girls had promised that they will be here for his match, but it seemed like they were running late.
Also, the stands were all filled up with people. There were hundreds of spectators who were present here to watch the Gym Match.
Kold Rays had asked him if he was comfortable with people watching their match, and he had allowed it on the condition that the referee would not announce his full name.
But as soon as everyone heard the name "Blanc Island", their excitement oozed out of their lungs in form of loud cheers, something that he courteously accepted with a slight bow, earning more favour from the audience.
"Gym Leader, please select your first Pokémon."
"Go, Butterfree!
As soon as the bright light subsided, a Flying/Bug Pokémon, whose eyes were guaranteed to creep out Misty emerged.
Aizen smiled as he saw the Butterfree. Others might be unable to see it, but he could tell that it was a newly evolved Pokémon. After all, Kold would not send out a very experienced Pokémon on the first round of a Gym Match.
"Go, Elektra." He lightly said as he threw the ball up in the air.
"Ele..." The cute little yellow Pokémon intently looked at the bug that was flapping its wings in the air, and subconsciously started discharging electricity from its nodes on its head.
"Ready, Elektra?"
"Ele..."
"Butterfree vs Elekid!" The referee raised his hand, and after glancing at both the participants of the match, he brought it down. "Let the battle begin!"
"Use Swift!" Aizen immediately called out, and Elekid complied by sending out star-shaped energy shots at the flying bug.
"Dodge, and use Supersonic!" Kold called out to his Pokémon.
Butterfree did not struggle much as it managed to fly higher up to dodge the incoming Swift, and as instructed, sent out odd sound waves to confuse Elekid.
"Light Screen." Aizen smiled and calmly instructed, saving his Pokémon. "Now, use Thunder Bolt!"
"Drop back to dodge and then send out a couple of Air Slashes!"
As soon as Butterfree stopped using Supersonic, it was attacked by a menacing bolt of yellow electricity, which left it no chance to dodge as Kold wanted it to.
Elekid was just too fast and powerful with her move, which caused the bug to drop down to the ground, having already lost its consciousness.
"Butterfree is unable to battle, Elekid and Aizen win the first round!" The referee announced, and Elekid started happily rotating its arms, working on recovering its Electric reserves even though it had only used a speck of it.
It was something that Kold and other experienced trainers in the audience appreciated very much as it meant that Elekid was a very smart Pokémon.
"Gym Leader, please choose your next Pokémon." The Referee spoke, and Kold immediately threw another Pokeball in the air after recalling Butterfree.
It was a Parasect, and quite a big one, which meant that it was, at least, three years old.
Elekid stopped rotating its arms and seriously looked at its opponent.
"Parasect vs Elekid, begin!"
"Sleep Powder."
Elekid narrowed its eyes more after hearing what was about to come, and on its own accord, started retreating backwards.
"Charge." Aizen calmed Elektra down and instructed her, which she readily complied with.
The Light Screen was still in effect and the little Elekid was saved from the Sleep Powder and the little that made its way to her was nullified because she was charging herself for the next move.
"Thunderbolt!"
"Giga Drain." Kold calmly smiled and instructed, which caused the audience to gasp when Elekid was suddenly surrounded by a strange light as Giga Drain took effect.
However, it did not seem effective enough as a menacing thunderbolt, which was way more powerful than the one unleashed at Butterfree, hit Parasect, leaving it rattled even though its Grass-Type provided it with some resistance against Electric moves.
"Approach and give it a powerful Fire Punch."
"Stun spore, and then X-Scissor!"
To Elekid's surprise, Parasect managed to unleash Stun Spore before it could approach it, and also prepared for X-Scissor. But she did not hesitate and hurled her best Fire Punch at the oncoming X-Scissor, nullifying it.
Aizen saw that Elekid was very close to Parasect, and smiled lightly.
"Discharge."
Kold sighed when he learn the move Elekid was about to use.
"Poison Powder." But he was not going to let Elekid go out unscathed.
The Light Screen was no longer there to protect it, and both the Pokémon suffered from the moves that were just used.
"Fire Punch."
To the dismay of Parasect, Elekid ignored the Poison Powder around it and unleashed a Fire Punch at it.
"Ele!"
The fist connected with the mushroom Pokémon and shrouded it in flames, making it scream in a lot of pain.
This Parasect's ability was Dry-Skin, which resulted in the Fire Punch doing a lot more damage than it should have.
"Return," Kold recalled the Parasect as he deemed it unable to continue, and the Referee announced the result of the second round.
"Parasect has been withdrawn by Gym Leader, Elekid wins the Second Round!"
Aizen calmly looked at Elekid, who was retreating from the cloud of poisonous dust. Though she was holding herself well, he knew that she was already poisoned.
"Gym Leader, please select your next Pokémon."
"Go, Venomoth!"
"Venomoth vs Elekid, begin!"
"Use Psychic." Kold immediately instructed.
"Thunder."
Elekid was flung over by an invisible force that smashed against it, harming it, but it soon got back on its feet and immediately used Thunder.
"Use Psychic again!" Kold immediately said, and though Venomoth did manage to execute the move, it could not save it from the brutal lightning attack that struck it.
However, it was saved from Paralysis, and still flapped its wings as it dealt with the pain.
Elekid was in quite a sorry state because of being Poisoned and being hit by two Psychic attacks, but Aizen did not recall it.
"Zen Headbutt," Kold called for the next move and Aizen narrowed his eyes.
"Protect." He instructed, and despite all the pain, Elektra managed to take on the hit from Zen Headbutt and survived.
"Leer." He chose the most opportune moment, and the move succeeded as Venomoth was quite baffled by the tenacity of Elekid.
"Fire Punch!" He immediately called out for the next move.
"Fly up, and use Bug Buzz!" Kold loudly said, but Venomoth was a little late.
Just as it was about to fly higher up, Elekid jumped and hit it squarely with a Fire Punch.
"Rush at it and give it a Thunder Punch." Aizen gambled as he knew that Elekid was going to fall down any moment now.
Elektra could not use another Fire Punch in this state, but an Electric move could still be executed.
The gamble paid off as the Venomoth was put to sleep after taking another hit, and the Elekid fell on its knees, panting heavily as its eyes drooped.
"Venemoth is unable to battle. Elekid wins the third round, and the Match goes to the Challenger, Aizen!" The referee announced and Aizen immediately rushed to Elekid, feeding it a Potion to eliminate the Poison.
"You were brilliant, Elektra!" He gently smiled at her as he scratched her head.
The crowd was going raucous after witnessing the last match of the day, which was also the most entertaining.
Everyone was rooting for Elekid, chanting its name, but Elektra did not pay any attention to it and leaned in Aizen's hand, asking him to give her some more caresses.
"You have a very resilient Elekid, Aizen." Kold smiled as he approached them, and as soon as the Orayen Prince stood up with Elekid by his side, he drew his hand forward. "Congratulations!"
"Thanks." Aizen smiled and shook hands with him and the accepted the Gym Badge.
"Here's your proof of victory at the Neon Gym, the Bright Badge."
He smiled as he accepted the star-shaped golden badge and then crouched down to show it to Elektra.
"Your first win." He gently said to her, and the Elekid stared at the badge intently.
Kold gasped in shock, which the audience followed as they witnessed a very special moment.
The little Elekid was shrouded in a brilliant white light, and soon its figure started growing bigger and bigger.
"Electabuzz!" As soon as the light subsided, and hoarse voice sounded out, which belonged to the newly evolved Pokémon.
"Hey!" Aizen happily smiled as he put his hands under Electabuzz's shoulders and picked it up in his arms. "Congratulations!" He sincerely said as he hugged it, and the yellow Pokémon hugged him back.
"Well, Congratulations again!" Kold laughed happily, and the crowd erupted in strong and jubilant applause.
"Elektra!" A sweet voice suddenly sounded out, which prompted Aizen and Electabuzz to turn to their side.
Anira and the girls were happily running toward them, and when Aizen put Elektra on her feet, the girls ignored him and happily hugged and congratulated his Pokémon on its first win and brilliant performance.
"You are late." He light smiled and said as he looked at Sabrina, whose pink eyes met his violet orbs.
"The stands were full when he arrived, so we had to watch the match from the main lounge." She informed him. "There was an incident in the city that caught our attention and delayed us."
"Oh." He nodded to her and happily smiled as his little sister jumped up in his arms, kissing him on his cheek.
"Congratulations, Brother!"
"Thank you!" He returned the courtesy by kissing her cheek, which made her brightly smile.
After Leaf and Misty congratulated him with hugs, they all said goodbye to Kold and walked out of the Gym to go to the Pokémon Center.
"So, what happened?" He asked after they stepped onto the street, and the girls told him about the reason they were delayed.
