Chapter 2: An Average Day

Ugh, what time is it? 5 AM already? Dang, I have school in 3 hours. I'm just going to get ready for school. It'll make me feel better. Besides, I want to have some free time today. I want to finish the animation I've been yearning to finish. I haven't gotten anything done. I'm already in a panic. I always panic when I hardly get something done. I need to get this project done. IT'S DUE NEXT WEEK! Only half of it has gotten done and I've been so busy with everything. Hold on wait a minute, I feel like I'm forgetting something. What's today? Oh, my birthday.... great. I get to find out who my soulmate is. I honestly hate this. Why couldn't I be born in the '80s? They didn't have to deal with this. I rumble around my room, searching for something nice to wear. Hey, I have an excuse to wear something nice. Don't judge me. A black long-sleeved dress with gray thigh high socks and my black fur boots. My hair is too short to style and the only thing I could do was move it around. I look in the mirror to carefully put my earrings on. Black cat earrings. Sweat dripping down my face from my panic 5 minutes ago. I quickly dash down the stairs to grab my keys. "So Ali, you excited to see who your soulmate is?" my mother smirked, nudging my elbow. "Mom, I don't even want to know who my soulmate is. Heck, I wish I'm that 10% that doesn't have a soulmate." I groaned while rolling my eyes. My mom seemed offended by that. "Allison Smith, I will not tolerate this behavior in MY house. You need someone to take care of you." My mother growled while setting the dishes down. My blood started to boil at that sentence. "I don't need some stupid husband or wife to take care of me." My mom got an even more irritated hearing wife in my sentence. "The bible says you have to marry someone of the opposite gender. Same-gender marriage is a sin in the eyes of the lord." There she goes again. It's always god this and god that. "Enough about this so called god. It's driving me insane." My mother had it. "ENOUGH young lady. You are going to marry whoever God has chosen you to marry and I don't want to hear another peep about it." she dismissed while continuing to put the dishes up. "I've HAD IT! I'm going to stay at my friend's house tonight. I don't feel like fighting anymore. Oh, and the funny thing is whenever you argue with me it becomes your house." I groaned while slamming the door. That nerve. I get in my car and start descending from the driveway. I take the U-turn in my neighborhood and drive to the highway. I finally get to the highway and intersect with the cars. After a good 5 minutes, I drive out the highway. I drive straight until I see a little area with a cafe, nail salon, and a children's clinic. I drive into the small parking lot and stop my car. I get out of my car and lock the doors. As I'm walking to the cafe, I notice that nothing has happened yet. That's a good sign for me. I open the door to the cafe and I'm greeted by a Maine Coon. The cat brushes against my boots and starts purring. I grab the cat and start petting it's soft yet short fur. "Aren't you a cute little guy?" I chuckled. "Hello, welcome to the Furry Cafe. What can I get for you Ali?" The cashier greeted me while waving. "Just a large pumpkin spice boba," I assured while putting the cat on the scratching post near me. "Alright, that will be 8.07. Will you be paying with cash or card?" she asked while typing things into the cash register. I pull out my wallet and give her a ten-dollar bill. She opens the register up to and gives me 2 dollars and 92 cents. I sit down while waiting for my drink as the next person orders. My name gets called and I walk up to get my drink. I play with the cats for about 5 minutes. I walk out of the cafe and thanked the cashier as I walked to my car. I start reversing, trying not to hit anyone and I start driving to my high school. They're open right now, so I can finish my animation. I start driving near the highway as I try not to spill my boba. I finally intersect with the other cars and I start driving down the busy highway. As I switched some lanes, I noticed that there was some minor traffic that was moving kinda quickly. I think of today's events as they circled my mind like a carousel. I hated hearing about god. It started to get really annoying after a while. Hearing my mother go on and on about how the bible says this and the bible says that. Hearing about HAVING to get married. I hope I don't get married at all. I don't like romance or the THOUGHT of it. As I start to space out, the cars behind me start honking at me. I look up to realize that the other cars had moved and I was holding them up. I drive off and head to my school. I finally get to my school after a few minutes of driving as I get out of my car. No item yet. Thankfully. I enter the school and head towards the library. I enter the library to the smell of books and vanilla. I set my laptop down and begin to work on my animation as the minutes ticked by.
