Emily's POV. 

I could feel my heart getting heavier and heavier until I was at risk of passing out. I grabbed Waylen's hand instinctively for comfort and he squeezed it.

I don't care about Owen!

I don't care about Owen!

I don't care about Owen!.

Wait! How many times was I supposed to chant that lie until I start believing it?

I had no idea whatsoever but even if it takes a million years, I won't give up until that lie becomes true, until that lie becomes my reality.

"Are you alright?" Waylen asked me.

"No. My heart is still out of control. You said that it might be because someone I care deeply about was in trouble but my mom might be pissed but she is fine. I think that is about everyone I care about, Waylen" 

There was a pause on Waylen's side before he said something that sent thrills down my spine. Maybe he could read my mind after all.
