Chapter 2: 2
After kelvin left the slums he immediately headed in to the more prosperous areas of the city, fortunately although kelvins attire wasn't obviously expensive it was neat and orderly so he didn't encounter any unpleasant looks as he walked. As he reached the city center he couldn't help but be impressed at the node before him. It was a huge pillar of light with countless little booths surrounding it from top to bottom, it was scenes like this that reminded him he wasn't on earth again. Kelvin patiently waited on the line until he got to his turn and he was taken by the floating platform to an empty booth, immediately he went to the test site and registered he was given a room number in the military barracks where the test was to be taken place. Kelvin left the city center and boarded a floating shuttle headed towards the barracks, on the way he met many kids who were headed towards the barracks for the test too. With his soul kelvin could feel dangerous vibes from more than 60% of the students in the shuttle, even though he could feel they were more powerful than him, he had confidence he could beat most of them with his moves when it came to actual combat. As the shuttle landed in the barracks kelvin got off with the rest of the kids and headed straight for his room. He closed the door sat down and immediately the room was filled with the glow of fireballs being created and moving round him like a sun.
The next day as the test officially began kids started moving towards their designated zones. Those that had enough confidence in their awakened talents went to a separate area to be tested and the remainder was to take a combat test. Since kelvin didn't believe his awakened ability was high enough to be tested with the rest his only choice was to go for the combat test. Kelvin could feel he wasn't the only awakener who decided to go for combat, most of awakeners present were those who were confident in their strength and hoped to get into a high combat institution as most of their students are picked from the combat test as opposed to the awakened one.
Kelvin looked at the giant arena the test was going to be taken place in. those at and below 4th level of houtian were going to be tested while the rare few who were at 5th level and above passed unconditionally but had to be tested separately later at the school of their choice. The age limit for testing was 14 so basically the venue was filled with kids. The kids all knew what to do as the walked as stepped into the platform that was project their consciousness to the test. After a flash of light kelvin found himself in a forest, a booming voice rang throughout the forest, "the forest is filled with beasts ranging from lvl4 downwards, each beast awards a point based on their level, the pass mark for this test is 50, attacking other students to plunder points are allowed, you have only 12 hours for this test. You can begin now".
Kelvin decided not to start to hunting right away and sat down to meditate, since he had no idea the strength of beasts in this world was like he decided to plunder points from other testers instead and the best time to do this was in the last four hours of the test.
A few hours later kelvin started hearing painful roars not far from him, he stood up and prepared himself but the forest was strangely quiet after the roar, as he decided to walk forward, his instincts screamed danger so he rolled to the side as the place he was in before was filled with slash marks. Kelvin looked up and found a boy on a tree above him looking down with scorn, with narrowed eyes kelvin started throwing fireballs, as expected the fireballs were easily dodged but kelvin kept on throwing, the forest soon caught on fire but the intruder wasn't frightened in the slightest. The boy slashed his arms and myriad of wind blades filled the space slashing at the fireballs and engulfing kelvin.
