Chapter 2: Running Away

As Karma opened her eyes, the bright morning sun shone into her eyes. She squinted trying to see past it, she looked next to her at the sleeping old lady, Lorella, she had called herself.

Karma got up and grabbed a piece of paper. On the paper she wrote:

"Dear Lorella, I promised to leave at first light and am following through with my plan. Thank you for allowing me to stay here with you. I have left some money in your mail box for dinner last night. Though its only a few silver coins, it is all I have. I must be on my way now. I will be sure to come visit you some, and keep you company.

My dearest regards,

Karma"

She folded the paper and put the quill back in its place, looking back at the lady one last time she smiled, whispered, "Thank you. Sleep well" and was quietly opening the door and walking out.

She realized the next part of her adventure was the hardest part, so she headed for the trees, undressed, and morphed. Being sure to pick up her clothes, so walked towards the orphanage. Of course, she would not go all the way there. She had let her curiosity "kill the cat" as people say. Stopping at a small stream she looked in the water. Seeing a lot of fish pass by, she turned around and put her clothes under a tree.

'Sorry little fish.' She growled. Biting down on one. Tearing the meat from the bone and ate it. Going back to drink water, this time the fish went the long way, avoiding the place the last had died.

Making sure to grab her clothes she continued to walk towards the orphanage. "I see you decided to come." The voice came.

Morphing back to a human so she could talk, she strangely became away of her bareness to whoever it was that was talking to her. In an effort to cover herself she tried putting her clothes on quickly. While she was dressing she responded, "You didn't say mid day, you said midnight. Why are you here already?"

"I stay here, dear. Ive been watching you take my relaxing spot since you were a young child."

"If you would have said something i would have found a new spot."

"I was but a child, and quite afraid of girls. So I just came and relaxed in the trees."

While Karma understood that most boys were made to fear young werewolves, she didn't understand why he would only now be talking to her. "Your bluffing." She said.

"What makes you think that, dear?"

"I am still considered a young lady, and yet you are talking to me. So, you are either a pervert that came to stalk me, or you are bluffing about me taking your spot and you only found it after I had been here a while." He had gone quite. "So, which is it, coward?"

"You are to smart for your own good, girl."

He walked out from the bush, his bare skin was pale, he was about a head bigger than Karma and his face was dark. He had a slim figure but very muscular. His abs would have been hard for other girls to avoid, but all that went through Karma's mind was 'how easy it would be to shift and kill you. You are too immature for your own good.' "Like what you see, girl?"

Karma realized she had been staring. Jolting from the daze she had been in, her eyes were nothing but hostile. "I should kill you for stalking me!" She said in a hostile voice that matched her hostile eyes.

"What good would that do you, girl? What you don't realize is that I have already told the orphanage of your spot."

Karma's head snapped to meet his eyes "You stupid boy!" Morphing, she ran toward the guy but was met with another wolf. 'How did he morph so fast?!' Karma thought.

They fought until they were both bloodied and in their human forms. Both panting and lying on the ground the guy started laughing. "Whats so funny, boy?!"

"The fact that you dont remember your old boyfriend."

Karma's head snapped to meet his eyes and she jumped upright, only to fall back down because her leg was broken. Screaming in pain and panting again. "Cayden?!" Karma was very confused. 'How did I not realize who my old lover was?!' She questioned herself.

"Hi, bunny." He smiled and winked at her.

"I haven't heard that nickname in a while." She chuckled as a tear strayed from her eye.

"Don't cry, bunny." He said scooting towards her to embrace her. "It isnt your fault, they tore us apart, and for that I will kill them!" Cayden had definitely changed from the person he used to be.

"They are over here!" Karma heard the head caretaker of the orphanage.

"We must run, Cayden! I cant go back! I can't!" She whisper screamed.

"But your leg!"

"There is a town a few hours away, they can't take me back if I am in a different town!"

"Or I could adopt you." He winked.

"I forgot you were a year older than me." She chuckled.

"You need medical care that they can provide. I will come back for you tomorrow, your leg should be healed by then." He looked around for her clothes but realized she had ripped them as they morphed.

"Karma! Karma! Why did you not come back to the orphanage last night?! You know that is against the rules!"

"Im sorry Mrs. Hailey. I wasnt paying attention to time and ended up falling asleep."

Cayden had dashed into the words before Hailey had made it out of the tree line to see them. "What happened to you, Karma?!"

"Never mind that, I need medical attention." Karma said pushing herself up to limp towards Hailey.

"Where are you clothes?!"

"They got shredded when I fought off a wolf." Karma, in a way lied.

Helping Karma up Hailey helped her walk back to the orphanage and helped her change.
