Chapter 100: Another night, another massacre.

(A.N: Sorry for the empty week, had my finals past two weeks and i managed to write smth in the first one but the second week was too busy. I still have a project to finish but it shouldn't get in the way too much. Hope you guys enjoy this one.)

(Hiashi POV)

'That child is going to be the death of me, I hope she hasn't done anything stupid.' - I thought to myself, remembering the face she showed at the time.

It was one of the rare times she confidently and stubbornly asked for something from me... I could at least do this much.

'Something about Kei though... Well... being powerful or in positions of power often had people facing difficult decisions... choices ranging from bad to worse. Hopefully, she hasn't found out something that lowered her opinion of him.' - As I thought about it, maybe those words were directed at myself as well. After all, I was no stranger to such decisions.

As I stood in the empty room, on the night's sky the moon shined fully from above, seeming peaceful and yet menacing at the same time.

'Hopefully, another quiet night.'

As time passed, soon the appointed time approached and I simply waited, my eyes closed as I rested them until I started to feel the vibrations in the wooden floor.

Opening my Byakugan I focused on the approaching figure, noticing Hinata, her mood clearly sour and her Byakugan not active.

'Perhaps it would be better to simply keep mine down as well, we already have enough problems between us as it is. It would be unpleasant if she thought I didn't trust her as well...'

The door slid to the side as I saw Hinata make her way inside the room, her head lowered as I observed her carefully, noticing a ring on her left hand.

As my eyes widened, Hinata's head rose, showing me her smiling face as she got closer.

'Wait... what? I mean, it's not that unexpected but when exactly... is this what she wanted to talk about?' - My thoughts raced as I looked at Hinata, the image of the little girl I used to hold in my arms overlapped by the grown women she had become.

As I stood stunned in place for a moment, I felt Hinata wrap her arms around me, almost missing the puncture feeling coming from my back but a moment after she embraced me.

My hands froze as did the emotions surging in my head.

'A trap? Why?!'

"Wh..." - My voice wouldn't come out, Hinata's face still hidden as she was hugging me. Activating my Byakugan I quickly searched behind my back, noticing the small needle in the ring.

"The Byakugan is so superior that it's not even funny to compare it to normal eyes. Sadly, every other aspect of the Hyugas is so normal it simply doesn't match. When you looked at me, your eyes saw so much. Me, the compound, the village, and much more. So much that your brain couldn't handle it without breaking down. The main weakness of the Byakugan is not the blind spot... it's the quality of their wielder."

As I heard the monotone voice, my eyes carefully examined the compound, drawn towards the movement of the clan members.

Hinata was clearly affected by something. The words that came out of her were directed at me, aimed at my inability to wield my eyes effectively... or simply offending me. And then I saw it... servants... heading towards the guards. Sometimes they would offer some food to the last shift of the guards, it was not rare... but these ones... were moving at the same time, towards all the inner guards of the compound... all trusted guards from the main branch.

---------------------------

(3rd Person POV)

An old servant slowly made his way towards the guards, holding a tray with some small food to deliver.

Looking at the guards he smiled as they nodded noticed him.

"Rough night?" - The old servant asked as the guards sighed.

"Considering how nothing has happened for years on end... you could say it's becoming rough simply standing still." - A guard joked as the other one simply shook his head.

"Say Wakumo.... did they find Togesu?" - At the question the servant froze for a moment, smiling sadly afterward as he shook his head.

"They did... most... of him." -The old man, Wakumo said as his hand clenched the tray slightly, offering it to the guards a moment later.

"I see... our condolences..." - The guard slowly said as he slowly grabbed the tray out of the old man's hands.

Taking a bite out of their food, a moment later both of them noticed the still smiling old man staying there and simply watching them.

Shrugging at each other, it was a moment later they found out they could not move, panic setting in as they both stared at each other with wide eyes.

As old man Wakumo looked at the startled guards, he slowly made his way towards the guards, both frozen in place, unable to move as old Wakumo pulled a kunai from the first guard.

"Forgive me. I have no problem living and dying in chains. God knows I have been so far. Even having my child live in chains I could endure, as long as he finds some happiness in his life. After all, the other option is death. Sadly, now my wife and I are alone... and while it shouldn't be this way, I now bear the duty of having to bury my child. I and my wife lived as little better than slaves for this clan, were willing to die as little better than slaves, willing to endure having to leave our child to live a little better than a slave if only he could manage to find some happiness as we did... but now, hah... At least we have been given the opportunity to grant him a burial with all the respects belonging to a fallen Hyuga shinobi, and perhaps even a better life for what years my wife has left, some of them with me as well if my body will let me... and so... I will take it."

Dragging the kunai slowly, the old man struggled a little as he plunged the kunai into each of the guards' bodies one after another, both of them still barely alive even after he finished plunging the kunai multiple times in their bodies.

"Huff... Huff... Forgive... this... old man. I have no... experience... in such matters. Merely a servant after all..." - The old man spoke between breaths as the blood of the two shinobi flowed on the ground, their paling faces noticing multiple Hyuga shinobi passing the old man and them as they headed quietly into the main compound.
