Chapter 23: The New World
Rainy- ugh... that was really weird... don't you think Hermione?
Hermione- ugh... yes, it was... it was horrible.
We were on an unknown forest, so we decided that we would search for a road that will lead us to a town. Now it's a good time to say that the battle with Quirrell gave me enough mana to have 110 now, and that i've learned Confusion! We begun to walk on a direction and meanwhile we were talking.
Hermione- this is amazing! we are on a complete different world!
Rainy-yeah, well. So... it might be a little late now, but you do realize that we'll be killing things right?
Hermione- well, you said monsters no? Probably some of them on self-defense.
Rainy- yeah, that's the intention. But this is a medieval fantasy world. There will be bandits too. And normal salvage animals like wolfs and bears.
Hermione- ...but you know some spells like stupefy right?
Rainy- true, but if we find resistance and we will find resistance, i'll worry only of our necks. Killing bandits here isn't illegal.
Hermione- a- and y-you are ok with that!?
Rainy- no, but i have already killed Quirrell... this won't be any different. An enemy that wants our lives. That's why i'm asking you. Do you want to follow me on my adventures or should i find a good inn for you on the town? I should be back before the day is over during this week.
Hermione- i- i- i want to-
???-Uahhhhhh
We heard a scream far away and we instantly went to the source of the scream, behind some bushes we found, on the side of a road, three novice-looking adventurers fighting some kind of earth golem. It was humanoid but without a head. The one that screamed seems to be a swordsman that got hit, and while he recovers thanks to the guy that looks like a priest, the girl with a spear is trying to gain time. They don't seem to be struggling that much. So i walked to the swordsman.
Rainy- hey do you need help?
Swordsman guy P.O.V.
Rainy- hey do you need help?
Some girl that looked twelve appeared while we were struggling against the earth monster that we had to hunt. She has shoulder length black hair, yellow eyes, and a scar that goes all the way through the left part of her forehead to her right cheek. Also she was wearing a weird clothing that resembles a uniform. And she was with another twelve years old girl behind her with long curly brown hair, and pretty normal if you ask me.
???-... what are you girls doing here?
Rainy P.O.V.
???-... what are you girls doing here?
Rainy- (Why do i have the impression that he has thought of a description of both of us?)
Rainy- that's not that important right? Do you need help with that little monster or not?
???- we are really struggling, you girls should run... we might be able to defeat him but it's not that sure.
Rainy- i see. Hermione, do you want to destroy an earth golem?
Hermione- me? Why? It's you who wants to get stronger!
Rainy- i thought that it would be a good non-living enemy for you... but whatever suits you.
???- oy, girls, this is no playground. Stay back. You can still run... is not that fast
At this point the woman with the spear was pushed back. So i conjured Joyeuse, took my wand and casted a petrificus totalus. After it was unable to defend himself i begun cutting both arms and legs an then i turned to the surprised swordsman.
Rainy- so... what do you do with this type of monster? Should i continue cutting?
Swordsman- ... oh, eh, no. Thanks for the help. We can extract the core... right Annie?
Annie- ... yes, yes, of course. But who are you girls.
Rainy- my name is Rainy Lionheart, future SeeD and witch.
Hermione- and i'm Hermione Granger, witch.
Swordsman- uh... two witches together? Isn't your party really bad composed?
Rainy- first, i'm the one who should do the fights, she's here only to watch my back because she was worried. Second, i'm a close combat witch, while she's long ranged, so the combo works well. And third, you haven't said your names.
Swordsman- oh, right. I'm Sai.
Annie- my name's Annie.
Priest- i'm Norman
Rainy- nice to meet you. So... do you know if there's a close town or something like that?
Sai- you don't know where the town is? It's following the road on this direction.
Annie- but where are your parents? It's weird to see two little girls on the forest without anyone else
Rainy- you wouldn't believe me so i'll spare the history, but i can say that we don't know anything about the close town, region or country we are. And that we need some general directions on how to live as adventurers
Hermione- i'll be an adventurer too?
Rainy- only if you want to come with me. I've already said to you that you can stay on the inn while i go adventuring.
Sai- well if you really are willing to be an adventurer, you can go with us to the closest town Coriacea, and we'll show you where the adventurers guild is.
Rainy- sure! lead the way!
And just like that the summer begun.
