Mary came in pushing a trolley with tea and snacks on it. She gave the us sitting on the cold floor a funny look.

"Would you like me to light a fire?" she asked.

"That would be wonderful," I said. "Come here when you're done so I can check your skin and stuff. And your hair looks amazing today."

"Oh, really?" she tittered and touched her hair sheepishly, which was done up in an elaborate updo that was generally too fancy for a maid, but I wasn't about to remind her of that. All the power to her to experiment with her hair. Meant she could teach me how to do it as well.
