Chapter 7: Spoils Of War / Khyber
"This is where you live?"
"I know it looks a little bit creepy, but it's only really used for my magic practice."
"No, that's not what I was saying at all. This place is incredible."
"Oh, well I'm glad you think so. Want to come see my room?"
"Absolutely, let's go."
They went through the large wooden doors and entered a large corridor that branched off into eight rooms, four on each side, with a large stair case going both up and down at the end of it.
"My room is in the basement, follow me."
Gabriel followed Charmcaster down the stairs and saw a large, dimly lit room with tables covered in potions and their ingredients. The shelves were lined with books that all seemed to have been thoroughly used.
"I forgot to ask you, what were those two books you needed for?"
"The one from the museum is meant to hold instructions for a ritual that will increase my mana capacity, and the one we stole from the vault in Alaska has instructions for a ritual to increase the damage caused by my mana."
"So pretty important stuff then, you want some help with setting up those rituals?"
"I would definitely appreciate some, but first I need to actually read and understand what it is I need to do for the rituals. While I do that, would you mind going out and stealing some food and drink? I am absolutely dying over here."
"No problem, I'll come back as soon as possible."
Gabriel went back outside and sprouted his wings once again, he started flying towards the nearest city and landed in an area with nobody around. He then started to make his way towards the convenience store across the street from the alley that he had landed in.
It did not take him long to pick out some snacks and drinks for him and Charmcaster. He got quite a lot because he had no spending limit, and when he felt that he had gotten enough, Gabriel walked right past the sensors that started repeatedly beeping as he had not paid for anything.
An overweight security guard had tried to stop him, but Gabriel just side stepped his attempt at grabbing him which caused the security guard to face plant onto the ground. He then left the shop and was greeted by a peculiar scene outside.
There was a large space ship being marvelled at by many people. Standing outside of it was Khyber, a mercenary and the alleged best huntsman in the galaxy. He also had a Panuncian next to him which was black and red with large teeth and a spiked tail.
Gabriel was confused, but then he saw something.
'Optional Mission: Kill Khyber has been forcibly activated.'
Before he could do anything, Khyber spoke, "Greetings, I am Khyber. Many regard me as the greatest huntsman in the entire galaxy, and you are my newest target. I had come to this planet to hunt Benjamin Tennyson, but after seeing how easily he was defeated by you I realised that you would be a more interesting game to hunt."
"Sounds legit dude, let's get this over with shall we?" At this point, Gabriel did not believe it would be possible for most things, beside the insanely overpowered enemies, to actually pose a threat to him.
He transformed into his Symbiote form and saw that Khyber was running straight towards him holding a large sword, while his Panuncian was going for a flank. Gabriel started moving towards Khyber and turned his entire arm into a scythe like blade.
Khyber swung his blade at Gabriel, but it was easily sliced in half when it met Gabriel's scythe arm. Gabriel's attack did not stop at cutting through the sword though, as it continued through Khyber's whole body.
There was a clear look of disbelief on his face, as his body got split in two parts. The Panuncian continued its attempted flank, only to be met with the same fate as its owner.
'Optional Mission: Kill Khyber has been completed. Rewarding 1 lottery ticket.'
"Well that was as easy as I thought it would be." The only thing that was actually of any interest to Gabriel about this interaction was the lottery ticket as he had no trouble with this enemy.
There was one issue though, everyone in the vicinity had been filming the 'fight' if it could even be called that as it was more like a slaughter. There was nothing that Gabriel could do about this, so he just grabbed the snacks he had stolen and flew back towards Charmcaster's house.
He made his way back to Charmcaster's room and saw her preparing a ritual on the ground, "How's the preparation going?"
Charmcaster looked over to him, "It's pretty good, turns out the two rituals can be combined into one and both of the effects will be boosted. Now where's the food?"
"Don't worry, I didn't forget it. I did kill a guy on the way to get these though so be grateful."
"Oh wow, well it's a good thing that didn't stop you from getting the food then."
"Nothing will stop me in my pursuit of food. How much of the ritual have you got left to prepare?"
"I've literally just finished setting it up, all I need to do now is activate it."
"Anything I can do to help?"
"Unless you can control mana, then I've got this."
"Understood, I'll just wait over here."
Charmcaster stood in the centre of the ritual area and started to pump mana into it. As she did this, her body started to slowly levitate until she was lying down in mid-air. Her body began to faintly glow purple, and then the intensity increased drastically.
After about five minutes of this, she stopped levitating and landed on her feet.
"So, did it work?"
Charmcaster felt the flow of her mana to test the effects, "It would seem so, my mana capacity has increased so I'm assuming it's power has grown as well."
"That's good to hear. What do you want to do now?"
"Well it is getting pretty late, so you can just crash here tonight. I'm assuming you have nobody waiting for you back home based off of your lack of care for following the law."
"Sounds pretty accurate to me, where should I sleep?"
"Just use the spare bed down here."
Charmcaster then proceeded to turn off the dim lights and get into her bed, while Gabriel got into his as well. He decided to wait until the morning to use his lottery ticket that he had gained from killing Khyber.

Also, add more powers you'd want to see here. Remember, they have to be a specific power owned by a character from any form of fiction. So no generic abilities like resistances. Also, there will be no power to take powers from enemies he kills/eats, just defeats the purpose of the system.
