Chapter 44: Practical Exam 1

With her wand aiming at me, the elf woman greeted her teeth and asked.

"Who are you?"

Which I replied, "Oh for fuck sake, what's wrong with you people? Is this how you guys welcome me?"

After a few seconds, she dropped her wand as she began observing my every move. I don't know why, but it somehow gives me the creeps.

"Kuemm kuemm.... Sorry about that. I just panicked a little. Nothing more." The principal turned her head aside. Though, I'm sure that she was still on her guards.

"...."

Silence....

It went silence for a couple of minutes before she started talking once again.

"Anyways, I'll start now." Said the Principal. With her hands touching the table, she sat down and stared directly at my eyes. "I Welcome to the Aspirant Academy."

*

After a few minutes, the quick discussion and welcoming has finally ended.

The two of us were about to leave when Principal Eve called out to me.

"Athan, I still have business about something." Gesturing her fingers to the door, she continued, "As for you, William. You're room number is [387], so you can go now."

"Ah... Yes." William nodded his head, leaving the room with the woman from earlier.

I were now left alone with Principal and after a few seconds, she once again spoke. "Now, then. Shall we start?" She asked, staring at me with a serious face.

"...yes?"

It didn't take that long for us to finish. I was quickly led to my room by one of the professor of this Academy.

He led me to an isolated building right at the corner of the school. It was old but clearly loved since the outside was maintained despite it's old age.

We walked up to the door and opened them. Though as expected, the inside was properly cleaned.

"This room hasn't been used for years, so it might look like this...." He said, staring straight to where he was pointing.

I opened the door, and what came inside surprised me. "Does she hate me for some reason.... Anyways, just a quick question, is this room haunted?" My eyes surveyed the room bit by bit, and after a few minutes, I muttered, "It seems to me, the worse day of my life is about to start."

The room itself were full of spider webs everywhere and thick layer of dust on everything. I couldn't help but cough because of how much dust got into my face the moment I placed my bag to the table, while the professor from earlier left.

It looks good on the outside, yet... It looks more scarier than a haunted house inside. I can't help but feel grumpy because of this.

I sat down to the couch near the table and slumped my head to the back comfortably. "At least, the kitchen and bathroom is clean...." I muttered, still feeling dejected.

I moved my head to the side and looked at the wall clock hanging above the wall, then let out a deep sigh.

"I'm going to be late...." I said to myself. "Well, that's not a bad thing since normal education here is just on a college level--probably more advance?"

Moving my hands to the armrest of the couch, I suddenly touched something unfamiliar. "A mask? What is this doing here?" I said, carefully inspecting the mask's features.

The mask itself consist in white color, designed by beautiful silver patterns. Although It has a red dot as a design in the middle, and has no holes for the eyes, I couldn't help but feel focused on it because I somehow felt comfortable.

I was about to try it on when I suddenly heard a knock on my door. "Athan! Are you there?" I heard William voice coming from the outside.

Sighing, I placed the mask back to the table, and went ahead to open the door for him.

"Coming."

***

"Hey, Athan." William called out.

While walking, I gave him a side glance before responding, "What?" Without hiding my tint of irritation behind my voice.

He had been continuously speaking right after we left my room. I'm starting to think that I want to cover his mouth using a tissue.

"I heard that the academics here are advance and superior than the other Academy. Can you even understand what we'll be taught about?" He asked.

I internally face palmed. "Don't mistake me for an idiot, William. I'm not like you who always fail in every subjects."

"That's not important...." William turned his head aside. Probably because what I said hit the mark.

"Classic idiot..." I sighed.

"No!! If I'm an idiot, you're worthless!" He stuck out his tongue. Because of this, I suddenly felt like screaming every embarrassed things I knew about him.

"Huh? If I'm worthless, then who was the one washing the wet bedsheets you used to pee into when you're 8."

"The maid?" William tilted his head.

"Exactly." I smirked.

Hearing this, William looked at me with frustrated expression as he pouted his lips.

Clearing my throat, I once again continued, "Unlike you, I'm not a person who always relay on someone. Also.... Not just that, if I want I can tell something you've done in the past that even your girlfriend or your father doesn't know... Like for example, the first time you've mastu...." I began whispering something to his ear.

Because of this, he looked at me anxiously before saying, "Yo-You wouldn't."while stuttering and pointing his fingers at me.

"I would, if you force me to." I responded while giving him an audacious smile. "Talking here is only wasting our time. Anyways, let's head inside." I said, opening the door of our classroom. I couldn't help but show a tint of excitement.

Since the two person I only had two look after is only Arthur and William because the other is on another class, dealing with them should probably be easy.

This is it! The moment I've been long waiting for, I can finally proceed to my plan without any prob-- fuck.... I cursed to myself inwardly.

The moment I opened them, I saw a familiar person inside.... A very familiar person that can bring more troublesome events in the future.

"Alright students. This two here will be your new classmates." Cossette announced. Her smug and excitement began spreading over me... in a bad way for sure. "Why don't you two come on inside." She said with a smile.

This girl.... What is she doing?!! I wanted to scream out. Thankfully, I managed to stop myself by bitting my lower lips.

William immediately went ahead over me as he excitedly began his introduction.

"Good morning everyone my name is William sev Lakiel. Just like math I don't understand myself either." He proudly announced to the students, who later laughed or chuckled at his words. Though, it didn't take long for them to realize who he was.

"Y-you... Are you perhaps the prince of the Imperial Kingdom?" One of the students asked, lightly stuttering from his words.

With a bright smile on his face, William replied, "Yes!"

Right after he said that, the voices of the students began to get louder, as he took the sit on the available chair just the upper left in front of the main character, Arthur Ains Delfeld.

Sighing at the sight of this event, I walked in front and began also my self introduction. Since I want to exclude myself with this people, I might as well say this clearly to them.

"My name is Athan von Lohengramm and I like books more than people. I also don't want any of you questioning or prying into my life. Anyways, nice to meet y'all." I said in the most bored tone I could make. I'm sure that what I said tick the heads of some people since I heard some of them clicked their tongue.

Arthur continued to stare at the window beside him, seemingly ignoring what I said. While Cossette lightly chuckled before gesturing her hands, saying that I should take a sit.

I shrugged my shoulder and went ahead to the main character.

"Can we exchange sit?"

"Hmm~?" Arthur turned his head to look at me.

"Can you take the sit beside the window? I'm not comfortable sitting there, you see." I asked politely, making sure not to annoy him. Right after that, Arthur nodded his head, took his bag and placed them on the chair next to mine.

I don't want to take the main character's sit, you see... The chair beside the window has been the main signature of the main character in a the story. Almost every main character in novel, manga and anime I've seen so far has sat on it in the academy or school arc.

I'm not the main character. It's not right for a villain in the story to take what's the main character was supposed to have in the first place. Honestly, if I were reborn as a mob, my life right now would probably be more easier than now since I could just exclude myself from the story.

Fake coughing, Cossette finally opened her mouth to speak. "Well, since the two of you are late and didn't managed to show up in the practical exam, the Principal has decided that the two of you will be matched against the other students."

"Matched?" Tilting his head, William asked, "And who will be our opponent?"

"Oh, you'll see... You don't have to worry since your opponents will be randomized. If you managed to win it, then you passed. If you failed, you'll immediately be expelled." Cossette smiled. Though, it seems like it didn't reach her eyes, as her words sound more of an threat.

"Well, let's head to the arena, then!" She said, cheerfully.

*

After we reached the arena, the two of us parted our ways since my match comes first.

Well, anyways, I can beat almost every students in my classroom except for Arthur pretty easily. So, I probably don't need to worry about who's my opponent will be.

"Let's get this over with...." I muttered out loud.

"She will be your opponent, Athan." Cossette pointed her fingers towards the girl with a platinum-white hair, and vivid crimson eyes, stretching near the bench.

"Randomize my ass!! Why does she have to be my opponent?!"

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
FalseFace FalseFace

Yo guys, just wanted to spoil something about this novel.

The first 1 to 150 chapter is more like the prologue of the story. After that, you'll start to understand the real reason of his reincarnation.

Also, my school starts on Monday. So, there's a possibility that the chapter I released may shorten. From 3 to 2 but I'm still not sure.
