Chapter 3: Third Date: We Meet Again
Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!
"Alright class, this would be it for our first day. It's time for your second period. Any question?", my history teacher asked.
"No!", the whole class replied in unity.
"Good. I'll see you guys tomorrow then."
Finally first period is over. Up next is physic class and also the first time Rebecca and I met. I ran to class in excitement.
"I finally get to see her again. I finally got another chance to confess my feelings.I'll make sure every second counts.", I thought to myself.
When I reach the class, I was breathless. I forgot that the class was on the other side of school. Damn it Terry! How could you forget that? I also realize that I haven't exercised for 3 years straight.No wonder I'm so out of shape!
"Good morning class! My name is Mrs.Chang and I'll be your physics teacher for this year.", she said with a smile.
"I know some of you are very tired from waking up early, but hey we're going to do a lot of fun experiments in this class, so make sure to pay attention in class."
Fun? Yeah, right. The only fun experiment in this class was our final project when we design our own little house. That was fun because you get to use your imagination and all.
Chemistry was the only science class I actually enjoy in my previous life. I remember almost making a stink bomb once and making ice cream at the end of the year was awesome. My chemistry teacher was so nice and her teachings are very easy to understand. The only thing that was difficult in her class was that 70% of the grade were tests and quizzes so you have to try hard in able to pass.
"Mrs. Chang, I have a question.", a girl said in a shy voice.
"Yes, go ahead. Rebecca right?", Mrs. Chang replied.
"Yes. Um...my English isn't that good. Can I move next to a classmate who is fluent at Mandarin?", Rebecca quietly said.
How could I forget. Rebecca is still as shy and innocent as ever. This is one of the reason why I fall for her. What can I say, shy and cute Asian girls are my type. But looks aren't the only thing that gets my attention.
"Mrs. Chang! I volunteer to help friend Rebecca. I also speak Mandarin.", I said calmly as I tried to control my excitement.
"Alright, thank you Terrence. Rebecca, you may sit next to Terrence." Mrs. Chang said.
My heart was beating so fast when she approached me. I completely lost myself when she sat down and gave me a smile. I could never forget that smile. It's that smile that gets my heart to beat rapidly. It is also that smile that makes me missing her day and night. I can't believe I got another chance with her.
"Hi, my name is Rebecca. What is your name(mandarin)?", she asked.
"I'm your future husband(mandarin)."I replied immediately.
"What(mandarin)?", she replied in an awkward voice.
Damn it, Terry. Why did I say that? That's so creepy and make me sound like an idiot. After 14 years, I still can't talk to her normally. I can't fuck this up again.
"I mean..uh..my name is Terrence or you could call me Xiao Yu, if you prefer calling our native name(mandarin).", I changed.
"Xiao Yu. As in little fish. That's a cute name. Is it ok if I call you Xiao Yu'er(mandarin)?"
"Yeah. What about you? What's your Chinese name(mandarin)?", I asked even though I already knew the answer.
"Mei Lin.", she answered in a soft voice.
In my past life I didn't fall in love with her immediately. It's actually takes around 3 months for us to know more about each other and that's when our feelings bloomed itself. Sadly, I didn't have the courage to tell her how I feel so she moved on and starts to date JJ at the end of the year. This time is different though. I will make sure every single moments counts. Sorry cousin, but I can't let you take away my love this time.
Oh, I forgot to mention one thing. JJ is actually my older cousin. His dad is my father's older brother.
That's was how I met Rebecca. I know it's not as great as how Ted met Tracy in , "How I Met Your Mother", but hey not all love stories have to start with an interesting background.
Some beautiful love stories takes time to develop. Just like how a flower needs time to fully browned and bloomed in spring.
