Chapter 7: The greatest hunter 4-2

Like a detective he carefully inspected the sword that was imbeded onto the earth, what was most surprising is that it looked as good as new. He felt the metal texture on his fingers as he slid it along the blade, the very Mana on his hands were getting amplified just from touching it which was more than enough evidence for Ferris to prove its authenticity.

"ah! I knew it when I heard your name!... you know my great grandmother" she said, expecting for a yes

(i think I understand the situation... There's no need for me to look for information, all of the important answers lie here on this sword)

"yes, I knew her... we're quite close" he replied while looking at the sword with a distraught expression

Stella covered her mouth in shock as sparkles appeared on her eyes "I knew it, what she said was true"

"you mean Lara Alessia?"

"yes that's right! That's her name! She said that there would probably be a time where someone from earth will come here!... Oh shoot(I'm speaking to loudly, this information is supposed to be a hidden secret only for my family)" Stella covered her mouth in disappointment

While reflecting on her loud mouth, Ferris stared at her as he remembered his time with Lara during the cataclysm.

(she's the spitting image of her... she even inherited her personality disorder.. Well.. Then again, it's not like she and Lara are far away from eachother in the family tree)

"how did this all happened, don't I deserve some sort of story?"

"oh, uhh of course, please have Seat and enjoy the tea.. This will be quite lengthy"

***

It was a moonless night, the air shivered their bodies and the only source of heat was a campfire that was made in quick fashion.

"blegh.. I'm tired of eating this canned food!" someone shouted as he spat it out

"argh! why the hell are we doing here, there's nobody left on earth other than a few thousand people! "

As the man broke down in tears the entire group was braught down with him, it's not like he was wrong, what he said was true, these exact lines kept repeating in their heads over and over again as a form of punishment for things they didn't even deserve.

...

...

A sudden wave of mana rippled through their bodies, but judging from their faces, it wasn't all that new to them.

"I'll go take care of it"

A blond woman stood up with eyes that describe her mostly sleepless nights. Despite the high quality design of her armor it has practically been covered in dry blood and dirt along with a claymore that has seen better days. She walked towards the direction from where the mana wave came despite having eyes that was about to give out at any second, the trail of the mana was more than enough to lead her there.

***

*boom*

An elephant sized monster with beetle like characteristics charged at her with tremendous speeds, easily breaking the sound barrier in a split second. Regardless, she stood there with disheartened eyes, looking at the ground as if she was deeply in thought of something that bothered her.

The monster came towards her like an unstoppable meteor hurling towards earth.

*splat*

(I'm at my limit...)

Before her was a pair of legs along with blood and guts that were scattered along a very wide area, her position didn't even budge an inch despite the massive charge of the monster.

"ah..." she softly grunted

Her legs suddenly collapsed to the floor as she dropped her claymore, her eyes even more depressed than before.

(i can't take this anymore... I.. oh... )

Lara Alessia was probably the greatest hunter of all time, going from a humble digital artist on the internet to a nation level hunter in the span of a short year. Countless countries owe her because of the amount of powerful gates she closed with her unfair gift for mana.

However, the responsibilities she had grew tremendously as people kept being more dependent on her strength and sooner or later, she joined the small group of hunters that had the responsibility of protecting billions of lives just because of their unbelievable strength.

"so many... what did we do to deserve this" she mumbled as she held back her dry tears

That year... If the people who were still alive even bothered to know what year it was, was the year when the last hunters started losing their wills, the greatest hunter who saved the most amount of lives was the first to break down.

(... ill just stay here...)

She curled herself into a dark corner and began to day dream, despite the tremors starting to occur inside the gate, she ignored them as if it wasn't even there.
