Chapter 2: Dinner
Jard with Martine came back to their tube home. They hide exit with some shrub gathered from surrounding and start small fire further from exit since they don't want anybody to find them out.
Martine takes out pan and starts to cook nightcrawlers. Their mother always told them that nightcrawlers got alot of bacteria so they need to cook them properly to eat. Jard is standing guard by exit while his sister prepares food.
Twins live in this style for more then three years. Their father died to beasts while hunting when they had four years and their mother caught mortal disease when they had five she died after half year few days after theirs sixth birthdays. Luckily their mother managed taught them how to survive in this world in half year she had preserved through her sickness. She taught them how to get their food how to track and how avoid humans. This tube home is place she found and prepared for twins to live on without her protection. This part of city is abandoned because its quite near center of city where lives beast you could call king of city. Thanks its presence humans and others strong beasts avoids this place and their mother hoped beast wont care about two small kids in its territory if they wont provoke it. Well her idea was right thanks it kids survived for more than two years without getting caught by humans or eaten by strong beasts.
~Jard, come food is served.~
Jard leaves his post and sits by his sister picking up wooden plate full of cooked nightcrawlers and starts slurping them one by one.
:We have to hunt something else next time. I am tired of eating same food everyday. Its too dangerous deeper at stadium field. What do you think about going deeper to city?:
~Eeh? But mother told us not to go further its too dangerous. What if we get spotted by beast or caught by slavers?~
:Slavers wont come to center of city just like beasts you know it just like me. We should checkout city maybe we will find something useful like weapon we should be able hunt better food:
Its not first time Jard came out with this suggestion, but today was fist time Martine after some time of persuading accepted Jards idea.
:Good, lets go sleep and tomorrow prepare to go:
Says Jard after cleaning dishes and putting out fire.
