Chapter 37: The axe forgets but the tree remembers.
"Mother,the bowl is empty already," Lin Qinqing reminded her mother. Her mother seemed to be bothered by something since yesterday because she was spacing out alot. Just like what was happening now.
She would be there physically but not mentally, something was troubling her.
It was probably because yesterday's incidents were not good at all.
She had charges pressed against her and it had been publicized.
Lin Qinqing didn't even know how she'd face people anymore and it also bothered her more whenever she remembered how Kai Fengjun left without saying a word.
What did that mean? That he'd rather believe the evil lawyer than her and her words were insignificant.
It was also truly embarrassing for her image as a woman as it gave the whole situation a whole new decoration.
That she was making up words to ruin Kai Fengjun's relationship with another woman and she had some kind of obsession.
It wasn't entirely false but she wasn't the clingy type ever in her relationships before. The guys were the ones to coax and follow her around.
If it was one thing she knew best,it would be not to act cheap. You had to have a certain level so that you are respected in a relationship. The man had to do the chasing and not the woman.
Lin Yaoha had received a bothering piece of information and that is why she wasn't settled ever since yesterday.
"I'm sorry,mother is just thinking alot," she replied her daughter.
"Is it about me?" Lin Qinqing said as she looked at her mother regretfully.
"Don't worry anymore about that dear," Lin Yaoha spoke as she combed through her daughter's hair and looked at her fondly.
The problem her daughter was facing was already solved by Du Tian. The legal charges might give them a hard time but the news was stopped from circulating and removed from the internet. Her daughter's reputation wouldn't be affected.
The next morning was when Yi Shuyan and Yue Ling left the Yi mansion.
Yi Shuyan went to work at the University while Yue Ling went her own way.
"How are you doing?" Bai Yuoran asked Yue Ling as he chewed on to something.
"I am fine, how have you been?" Yue Ling said.
"I'm always doing great and living life to the very fullest," he said smiling.
"Has nobody attempted to kill you yet?" Yue Ling asked seriously.
"Yue Ling, do you really wish for me to die,"he asked back.
Bai Yuoran knew what Yue Ling meant to ask him but he couldn't stand her seriousness always.
"Okay, since you look fine, how far has the other plan gone?," she asked.
Bai Yuoran then became serious and started explaining.
Yi Shuyan was in her office having a short break before her next lesson.
"Professor Yi, somebody wants to see you," her assistant professor told her.
"Thank you for informing me,"she said as she stood up. "Did they give a name,is it a male or female?"
The younger lady started staring dreamily as she said," Madam,he is so handsome."
"Ying, can you be more serious?" Yi Shuyan spoke.
Her assistant Jao Ying was the dreamy prince charming type with a generally happy attitude. She wasn't straight to the point most times.
"Sorry Prof, it's a man," she said as she giggled and left.
Yi Shuyan went out to meet the person.
Lin Jingxuan watched as Yi Shuyan stared at him in both fear and shock. There was also another feeling he wasn't ready to acknowledge,pain.
The two simply looked at each other for a long time with no words.
After all the years of being apart from each other,there were no words they had to say to each other.
"What brings you here?" Yi Shuyan asked.
Here was the only person she loved before standing right in front of her.
He still looked handsome, just as Long said,he had even barely aged. Lin Jingxuan also had a more domineering presence and an air of great maturity and wisdom.
He was bound to change, just like their relationship was doomed from the very beginning.
The man she saw in front of her now still had the same features but was a stranger.
Where was the caring and kind man who loved her so much? For whom she was willing to sever ties with her loved ones.
"I wanted to know why you sold your and our daughter's shares, Shuyan," he asked, straight to the point.
This question wasn't to be asked through phone and anyway she wouldn't pick his calls.
"Do you have the right to ask why and what we did with what belonged to us?" Yi Shuyan asked back. She had even hesitated a bit before answering because she was confused.
She didn't know anything about selling the shares and she hadn't sold anything.
The only thing she did was to transfer the shares she owned to Yue Ling.
"Shuyan,why can't we just act like adults,I'm only worried about your and our daughter's well being,if you need," he hadn't finished his sentence yet when Yi Shuyan stopped him.
Lin Jingxuan instantly regretted whatever he said. He had called her "Shuyan" and even went ahead to say he could help when needed.
"Lin Jingxuan,it's either Ms. Yi or Yi Shuyan for you," she started correcting him .
Also,I thought Yue Ling is only my daughter. Do you still consider her your child?she asked.
The thought of all this brought so much pain to her heart.
Lin Jingxuan had never sent a penny for his daughter nor had he ever tried to meet her since all those years back.
His family members threatened her and caused trouble but it was only his father who cared about Yue Ling.
The old man was too guilty to meet them again after all that happened but he always sent money and tried his best to help Yi Shuyan in every way because he knew she wasn't wealthy and was just a professor. How was she going to care for a child on her own?
His daughter, wasn't his daughter Lin Meilin. The very reason she left her marriage.
Lin Jingxuan didn't say anything to Yi Shuyan as she said whatever she wanted.
This was also another thing that bothered Yi Shuyan about him,she had spoken quite alot but he only said a few sentences.
Was he holding back because he didn't want to argue with a fool?
Did he find her words so insignificant that he had no reason to comment when she talked?
Or had he done nothing wrong.
All these were questions in her mind.
