Chapter 1: Prologue:
Hi! My name is Asahi Fenikkusu, and I'm an incarnate of a 20th century Hashira.
Yes, I know it's hard to believe, right? My breathing style is a stronger more evolved version of flame breathing called Phoenix breathing. You probably think that's awesome, right? Well, actually it is but it isn't.
Here let me explain, since I had a phoenix hashira mark on my cheek when I slayed demons, the demons could spot me easily and I was exposed. You're probably thinking all that I am explaining sounds epic to you. Well, hold on to your seats here comes the bad part. Since I am a Hashira in the 20th century means that not only have I evolved but so have the demons. You see, demons were thought to have ended with Muzan but 18 years before I was born demons began to appear again. Only, this time they slaughtered for sport not power and survival. Though most of the demon population is bad, the good demons fight alongside other Hashira's and demon slayers.
In this century we don't call ourselves demon slayers we call ourselves Akuma Sureiyā. This is just the updated version of the name. The older demon slayer generation refers to us as demon slayers still. We understand what they mean and we show them the respect they deserve.
I was reborn with black phoenix irises and the rest of my eye was fire colored. I wore makeup just like every other teenage girl does, except I prefer black and red eye shadow and a modest amount of orange or black eyeliner. My choice of pants are always either black ripped jeans, cut off shorts, or very flexible mini skirts. My choice of shirts were always either black or red croptops or black crop tanks and regular black tank tops. I only wore high heeled boots. I cannot tolerate wearing anything that is considered flat.
Growing up I was trained vigorously day and night. I learned how to wield a Katana at the age of 9. I was put through training to be able to use Phoenix breathing. I never knew that I could use my breathing without a sword but I had to learn how to use it with both my hands and my blade. My father died from a sudden heart attack and my mother died from cancer. I live at the academy along with all the hashira that are attending.
Over the centuries a curse was placed on all born hashira. Instead of dying at age 20, shortly after the hashira are born their parents will inevitably die. So the ones with a hashira mark will end up going to an academy that served as both a regular highschool for other kids but a hashira training for us hashira. We attend classes with the other students but we barely do anything and the teachers hardly give us homework. Why would they when they are the only ones allowed to know that we exist? Of course we do listen, sometimes.
The academy has an entertainment stadium where the tokyo schools best swordsman come to compete with us hashira and some of the Akuma Sureiyā as well. We beat them almost every year in a national competition. We sometimes let them win so that way no one suspect that we are any different from other students.
As Hashira it is our duty to keep our identities secret and make sure we go unnoticed to the human eye. Fighting demons became harder since we are to kill them without blowing our cover. We have done good so far but its still not easy.
As for us hashira, killing demons is a way of life. We protect and serve the city and we won't stop until we have destroyed every demon in Tokyo.
