Chapter 12: Chapter 10
(Edward: POV)
Humming Bink's Sake to myself I stood at the wheel of the ship, keeping her steady and on course a she moved through the waters of the East Blue.
It's been a week since Mira and I escaped the navy at Loguetown and begun our pirating life and so far other than that it's been going very well.
I continued steering the ship for some time until I heard Mira call out to me.
"Lunch is ready." She said.
Hearing this I left the wheel and went to join her for lunch.
Which she prepared.
Since until we get a full time cook as a member of the crew Mira and I have decided to take turns cooking. Turns out we're both fairly decent at it.
The two of us had a pleasant and filling lunch.
Then once it was over Mira decided to get him some training, while I went back to steering the ship.
Which in another three hours arrived at our intended destination.
Sixis.
Since Mira and I have not left East Blue yet.
While I am all ready to head into the Grand Line and face the greatest sea in the world I know that doing so at this moment would be something close to suicide for both Mira and myself.
We both know that conquering that beast of a sea with just the two of us is impossible. That is why we agreed that after we set out as pirates we would explore each of the Blue seas for some time. In order to look for crewmates to join us.
Since everyone I would want to create for the crew is either too young, hasn't been born yet, are part of another group/organization, or finally located in another of the Blue Seas. Hence our exploration of all four of them.
As for the time frame of each Blue Sea exploration I decided we would spend half a year in each.
Before finally heading to the greatest and toughest sea in the entire world.
So right now it's East Blue for us.
Where right now, as you can see, I am using my foreknowledge to my advantage. Given where Mira and I are.
But hey, what's the point of having foreknowledge if you don't abuse the shit out of it?
So sorry not sorry Ace but if everything goes well today you won't be known as 'Fire Fist' in the future.
As I stared at Sixis in the distance I also noticed the rough currents surrounding the island.
Which is exactly why I stopped our ship several kilometers away from the island, so our ship wouldn't get pulled in by the waves.
Stopping her spear practice Mira faced me. "Edward, what is this place and why are we here?"
"This place is known as Sixis, and back in Loguetown I heard a rumor that there is some treasure located here. So I brought us here to investigate said rumor and see if there is any sort of truth to it." I spoke.
Lying as easily as I breathed.
Since if I told Mira the truth about how I know about Sixis she would probably think I am insane. Which is why I made up that lie, and I will lie to her again in the future when my foreknowledge comes into play at certain times.
Because I never plan on telling anyone about my past life.
Lest the wrong individuals learn about the knowledge in my head and try to use it to their own advantage.
World Government I'm looking at you.
Hearing my explanation that would probably even make the dao of bullshit weep tears of joy Mira nodded her head.
"Alright. So what's our next move?" She asked.
"You stay here and watch the ship I'm heading over to the island." I explained to her.
I then stripped until all I had on was my pants.
Looking down I briefly admired six pack of abs. Since it doesn't hurt to enjoy your own appearance every once and a while Especially when you've put in the work to make it look the way it is.
Turning my attention away from my abs I picked up my two cutlass swords and secured them to my waist tightly with some rope.
I then turned in Mira's direction and gave her a mock salute. "Well then I'm off." I told her.
Noticing that Mira was glancing at my abs.
But it was only for a second before she moved her eyes back up to my face and nodded at my words.
Seeing this I turned around and leapt into the ocean.
I then started swimming towards Sixis, a small smile on my face due to Mira's behavior seconds ago.
Since it means there is a possibility we could become more than crewmates.
Though I'll need to investigate the matter a bit further before I make any decisions regarding it.
Still, I am beginning to think Mira being my actual lover wouldn't be so bad.
As I contemplated this I continued swimming towards Sixis on hopes of finding the treasure I hoped was located there.

Reaching the shores of Sixis I pulled myself out of the ocean.
I then took a moment to catch my breath, since swimming through those rough ocean currents surrounding the island was far tougher than I expected it to be.
Still I made it and that's what counts.
After a ten minute rest I got off my ass and started my exploration of the island.
I also spread out my observation haki, just to make sure no one of nothing else was lurking around.
Because just because Sixis was deserted by the start of the original story doesn't mean it's the same right now over twenty years in the past, and I will not be caught off guard.
Oh and before I forget to mention it I would like to note my observation haki is quite unique.
Unique in the fact that it functions exactly like Eagle Vision from the Assassin's Creed games.
Which I did not expect, but seeing as I am now Edward Kenway it makes sense.
I moved across Sixis in a slow and methodical pace. Keeping my observation haki up as I searched for the prize I was looking for.
Before I even realized it the sun was setting. Even so I decided to finish my search.
As I entered the last search grid I had established for Sixis I noticed something with my observation haki. It came to my senses as a gold flickering object.
The moment I sensed this I headed in its direction.
Arriving at the object I saw it was the prize I was looking for.
The Mera Mera No Mi (Flame Flame Fruit).
Plucking it from the tree it was in and holding it in my hands I couldn't stop a smile from forming on my face.
The treasure of Sixis in my hands I began my return journey to the ship.

Reaching my left hand up I grabbed the side of the ship.
I then pulled myself aboard, the Mera Mera No Mi securely tightly in my right.
Like it has been ever since I found on the fruit.
Just the dirty gremlin held the One Ring in the Lord of the Rings trilogy I am holding onto the Mera Mera No Mi the same way right now.
Since there is absolutely no way I am going to let this devil fruit slip from my grasp after I went through all the trouble of collecting it.
No way in hell.
"Welcome back." Mira spoke as I stood to my feet. Her eyes going straight to the Mera Mera No Mi in my right hand. "Is that, a devil fruit?"
"Yep." I replied. Holding it up. "Looks like that island did hold a treasure after all."
"Amazing." Mira spoke.
Since this is the first time she's seen a real devil fruit, and the same for me as well.
"So, are you going to eat it?" Mira asked me.
I shook my head. "Nope." I replied.
I am not going to eat the Mera Mera No Mi.
In fact I don't plan on ever eating a devil fruit. Disregarding the fact I've come to enjoy swimming so much I don't want to lose the ability to do so, I don't see a reason to eat a devil fruit.
Sure, they are awesome as hell. But to conquer the seas I don't need a fruits powers. All I need is myself, and strong haki.
Because haki is truly where it's at in the One Piece world.
Even that suicidal drunk Kaido himself said that if your haki isn't strong enough conquering the seas is impossible.
For a monster like him to admit that it must be true.
So yeah, no devil fruit for me ever.
I'll become pirate king just like Roger did.
"Do you want to eat it?" I asked Mira.
She shook her head. "No." She replied.
"Alright then. We'll just save it for later." I spoke.
After all a future crewmember will likely eat this fruit, and even if they don't there is no way we're going to give up a devil fruit, especially a logia-type. Doing so would just be insane.
Our decision regarding the Mera Mera No Mi made I handed it over to Mira so she could go store it.
Meanwhile I got re-dressed.
But as I did so I sensed Mira briefly staring at my ass.
Though just like before when she stared at my abs it only lasted for a second before she continued doing what she was doing. Even so this confirms she's checking me out.
Now the only question is do I respond in kind or or not.
