Chapter 10: Chapter 8: The Moment That Started It All
A/N: I will not title chapters often in this fic. But when I do know that they are important or significant overall.

A smile on my face I entered the plaza where the execution platform stood.
Mira standing on my right side.
As the two of us settled into the already massive crowd of people I began looking around to see if I could spot any canon characters, and sure enough I managed to find two. Dracule Mihawk and Crocodile.
Though my gaze only lingered on both individuals for a brief moment.
Since I am sure if I looked in the direction of either of them any longer than that they would've sensed my gaze and likely pick a fight with me.
Which I do not want at all costs right now.
Disregarding the fact such an event would seriously fuck up the timeline at my current level of strength I am no match for either of those two.
I mean from what I recall during this period in time Crocodile is currently strong enough to fight that monster Douglas Bullet to a draw, and as for Mihawk I have nothing to say.
So yeah.
Better to keep my gaze wandering until the promised time arrives.
Which didn't take long at all.
Twenty minutes after Mira and I arrived in the plaza the execution got under way.
*Clank Clank Clank*
Hearing the rattling of chains I turned my head in the direction the sound was coming from.
In doing so I saw a 2.74 meter (9 feet) tall man with shoulder-length dark hair and supremely badass moustache walking towards the execution platform. Surrounded by three navy executioners on either side of him, a bright smile on his face.
Not even a second passed before I recognized this man.
For it is the pirate king himself.
Gol D. Roger.
As I looked at Roger make his way towards the execution platform I didn't see a hint of fear on the man's face.
Seeing his expression I instantly knew that this was a man who had no issues with his impending death. No, this was a man who had lived life as he pleased, and was now about to die as he pleased as well.
Just realizing this I found myself inspired by Roger.
What makes it even more amazing is that the man hasn't uttered a single word yet. That's just how much charisma he has.
'No wonder his words started an entire era.' I thought.
Soon Roger reached the top of the execution platform, and once he did so he sat down without a care in the world.
"Alright. Let's get this over with." Roger spoke.
The moment after he did so two of the navy executioners stepped up on either side of Roger and readied their blades. Placing them in an X formation under Rogers' head.
Then after they did so they simply stood there.
Ready and waiting for the exact moment Roger was scheduled to be executed before going through with it.
As the seconds ticked by the entire plaza became deathly quiet. So quiet you can hear a pin drop onto the ground right now.
Brimming with anticipating I waited for the legendary question to be asked.
But as time moved on and no one asked the question I got nervous.
So nervous in fact I decided to throw caution to the wind and say "fuck it!".
"Hey Pirate King!" I shouted. "Your treasure, where did you hide it?!" I asked.
The moment I finished doing so the smile on Roger face got even bigger than it already was.
"Oh, so you want my treasure eh? Fine then, you can have it. But first you'll have to find out. I left everything I gathered together in one place." Roger said at the top of his lungs.
But then before he could say anymore the navy executioners on either side of them did their jobs. They executed the pirate king.
The deathly silence continued to permeate the plaza, even after Rogers execution.
Until it was broken.
"Woahhh!!!"
By the shouts of many.
Soon the entire plaza was a chorus of shouts, as well as footsteps as many people left it in a hurry.
Definitely getting ready to head out to sea and began searching for Rogers treasure.
The One Piece.
As people moved around me I stayed entire still.
A grin appearing on my face just like Roger wore only a moment ago.
"Roger, I'll do it!" I began shouting. "Have no worries. For I Edward Kenway will carry on your legacy. I a make this declaration here and now! I'll make the strongest crew, conquer the seas just as you did, claim the One Piece for myself and become the next Pirate King!" I shouted with unrestrained joy.
Look out world.
For the next pirate king is about to take to the seas and conquer them all.
That's a promise.
