Chapter 1: A New Start

New York City, Saint Agnes Orphanage.

This orphanage which is also a church school is located in Midtown West, a neighbourhood of Manhattan, adjacent to the Hudson River, commonly known as Hell's Kitchen.

As one strolls through the narrow streets and opens the rusty iron gate, they are greeted with weathered walls and a collection of old furnishings inside, indicating that despite the prestigious name of this church school, it can't accommodate even a hundred local students

In this dilapidated environment, the only bright spot of this school is its relatively affordable tuition fees. However, with every advantage comes a disadvantage – the school offers numerous theology courses, whether you like them or not.

"You shall be strong, fearless, and forget your suffering, shining brighter than noon, even in darkness, like the morning. Amen." The elderly teacher concluded today's class with the same tone he had used for decades.

The students immediately stood up and responded with a rhythmic chant, "Amen..."

Only when the old teacher pushed open the door and walked away did the not-so-spacious classroom regain its liveliness.

Amidst the cheerful sunlight filtering through the window cracks, the students gathered in small groups, discussing various topics. Intentionally or not, they isolated a corner in the southeast of the classroom, which contrasted sharply with the surrounding bustle in its calmness.

Her flaxen hair caught the scattered rays of light, while her facial features, a blend of different heritages, added a captivating depth to her appearance. Her eyes, slightly upturned and adorned with amber irises, exuded a sense of wildness and pride.

"Mary Sue! Let's go for lunch!" Only one lively girl greeted her warmly amidst the gazes of others.

Skye sighed with frustration, saying, "I've already told you three times. 'Mary Sue' was just a name I used to apply for government subsidies with my foster family. Now, I've reverted to using my real name, Daisy or Skye. Understand? Repeat it!"

The other girl, Angela, obediently repeated it twice before being let off the hook.

Daisy, also known as Skye, was quick to leave the classroom. She needed to use the library's network to search for some information.

From being a struggling writer to being a woman who pretends to sing hymns in the corner of the classroom, it took her a week to officially adapt to this new life.

She remembered organizing a large amount of material on American comics before feeling dizzy and falling asleep, only to wake up in this world.

There were various things she needed to get used to – dressing, sleeping, language, and eating. Luckily, she was mostly isolated by the students, and her unusual circumstances remained undetected.

The three elements of her transmigration were clear – the year was July 2006, the place was New York, and it was a Marvel universe. Yes, she had transmigrated to the Marvel world.

With her previous profession as a struggling writer for American comics, she carried all her knowledge and memories when she crossed over. After thorough research, she confirmed that this body might have an extraordinary genetic lineage.

She was fully aware of the person into whom she had transmigrated.

Daisy Louise Johnson codenamed Quake, those memories are crystal clear.

However, she had doubts about whether the body she inhabited truly belonged to Daisy. So, to confirm her identity, she spent three days gathering evidence from various sources.

She found an old sticky note on which her name, Daisy Johnson, was clearly written. However, the previous occupant of this body always resisted this name and called herself Skye, without even using a last name.

Her true name is Daisy Johnson, and she used to go by the name Skye. She is of mixed heritage. Although the parents of this body are still alive, the present situation is that she is an orphan and is currently staying in an orphanage called Saint Agnes Orphanage.

After screening and comparing several aspects, she is indeed Quake.

In the crisis-ridden Marvel world, having abilities and not having abilities are two different concepts.

However, her ability is not triggered by age or emotional stimulation; it requires an alien technological product to activate that specific gene.

Her lineage is traced back to the Kree Empire, one of the three major intergalactic empires. The Kree used genetic technology to modify a portion of Earthlings to serve as their soldiers. These modified individuals later broke free from Kree's control and called themselves Inhumans. Daisy's bloodline came from these Inhumans.

In everyday life, she seemed no different from regular people, but to access her powers, she needed a substance called Terrigen crystals to activate her latent abilities.

These crystals originated from the subterranean Terrigen Waters on the Moon, near the Inhuman city of Attilan, which was presumably located on the far side of the moon.

To reach the moon? That was an impossible task for Daisy, who had only $1,500 in savings. If she could easily get to the moon, she wouldn't need the crystals or superpowers!

Fortunately, there is always an alternative route, and one crystal was left on Earth, eventually falling into the hands of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Between the moon and S.H.I.E.L.D., Daisy believes that the latter is the more feasible option.

In a world full of dangers, she needs strength. So, she pushes down her fear and readies herself to take action.

Besides inheriting a wolf-proof electric shock device from the previous occupant, Daisy's only current means of influence were her hacking skills. She had inherited an impressive talent for hacking from her predecessor – knowledge of compromising computers, servers, and other technological systems. This was the only tool she could use for now.

After three days of thorough preparations, she initiated a plan using her hacking skills.

She found the private number of Jasper Sitwell, a high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and secretly serving as a mid-level HYDRA operative.

The Terrigen crystal she needed was stored in a special S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse, and Jasper Sitwell would be her unwitting accomplice.

As a very capable hacker, finding Jasper's hidden phone number was not a difficult task for Daisy. She meticulously planned each step and waited for him to appear in a public place before disabling nearby surveillance cameras. Aligning them toward visible positions, she finally made the call.

Jasper Sitwell appeared a bit confused on the screen, knowing that not many people knew his private number. Still, he didn't recognize the caller and looked around warily before finally answering the call.

Daisy used her prepared voice changer, transforming her voice into a deeper tone, and got straight to the point, "Agent Sitwell, Mr Whitehall needs your assistance."
