Chapter 1: Just or Injust

"I want to ask you a question first.

"Do you believe that the world is just?"

There is a very simple answer to that.

"No, the world is not just. On the contrary, it is very unjust."

I'm already in my mid-20s and haven't achieved anything. Since the early death of my parents, I had to work to pay for my living expenses. I was only 15 at that time. They died because of a drunken truck driver. And all he got was 1 year in prison.

He committed murder and only got 1 year in prison! That shows just how rotten this world is.

All my relatives turned away from me because no one wants to spend unnecessary money on me.

And so I've been living monotonously for 10 years now, in this boring life. The only joy my life had were web novels.

I loved reading the works of different authors thats why I also tried to write my own.

It was a typical story of a protagonist with many companions who went to the academy and eventually defeated the Demon King.

But it received so much hate that I dropped it.

Present:

In a small 2-room apartment sat a man around his mid-20s.

This man was Sariel.

"These damn bastards. Do you know how much effort I put into this? It was my only joy in life. You all should just die."

He looked at his watch. It was 5 in the morning. Time to go to work.

"Now I have to go to work at this damn construction company. They always treat me like a burden but if there are ever any mistakes, it's my fault again."

So he walked along the street and over the bridge. It was 5km but he couldn't afford a car.

Then he suddenly stopped in the middle of the bridge. He had only one thought.

"Should I jump? I mean, nobody cares anyway and nobody will miss me."

The bridge spanned a river, and if he jumped at this height, he would definitely die.

But then a picture suddenly flashed through his mind. It was his parents smiling at him happily.

That surprised him because he never had a very close bond with them. Of course, they were his parents and they always treated him well.

But something was always missing. Maybe it was because he was always smarter and more mature than others even as a child.

At 5, he could do fractions while others were still learning their times tables. At 10, he was already talking to his parents about taxes and expenses.

"I shouldn't do it. Maybe something good will still happen to me."

He sighed and turned around, but all he saw was a bright spotlight as something crashed into his body at 100 km/h.

His body flew down in the river but he didn't even feel anything.

"Apparently, god really doesn't want me to live."

Those were his last thoughts before slowly sinking deeper in the water and everything turned black."

Hi, it's the author here. I just wanted to say that this is the first novel I'm writing myself so I would be happy if you would leave a comment or a review so I know if you liked it or not. And if you have any things I could improve please tell me. And I would also be happy about powerstones. It would boost my motivation about writing more.
