Chapter 94: End of Round One
After Asta's match ended, a couple more matches played out. To be completely honest, most of them were a waste of time and only a few teams managed to catch his attention.
The team he had the most interest in besides Asta's was Yuno's team and Langris's team. Spacial magic... he never knew that it was possible to be used in an offensive way. Compared to Finral, Langris was something else entirely. And to make it even better, just like Yami's dimensional slash Langris's spacial magic ignored defence. Just thinking about going up against magic like that made him impatient.
As for Yuno, he was quite interested in seeing that boy's growth. While the two had competed with each other on mana amount during the Star Awarding Festival, Grim wanted to get into an actual fight with him. Since he was aiming to become the strongest in the world, he might as well become the strongest rookie first.
Laughing to himself, the moment Grim had been waiting for had finally arrived.
"Moving onto the 5th match of round 1! Would team I please make their way to the examination area!" The announcer called out.
"Excuse me." Two men drew everybody's attention.
"We're on team I, has anyone seen this Mr X person?"
"X? Who is that?"
"Have you heard of him?"
"Is there such a person in the magic knights?"
While everyone was trying to figure out who this mysterious X person was, a strange looking man standing in the middle of several magic knights started laughing abruptly.
'What the fuck?'
"I'm X." The man laughed before bursting into a flash of light.
"Ergh!"
"TOO BRIGHT!!"
By the time the light finally faded away, the person standing in place of Mr X was someone that every magic knight recognized.
"EHHH!!" Every responded in the same fashion.
'Heh, so that's how it was.'
Standing with the rest of them was the captain of the Azure Deer: Rill Boismortier!
"Heyo!!"
"CAPTAIN RILL!!"
"HE'S PARTICIPATING!"
"NO WAY!!"
Smiling like an absolute fool, Rill looked at the wizard king.
"Eh? I'm able to participate right?"
"Of course!" The wizard king said giving him a thumbs up. "There's no rule saying you can't."
"Really!!"
"Really."
"AWESOME!!" Jumping for joy, Rill's eyes shone with stars.
The wizard king on the other hand was just excited at the fact that he could see Rill's magic again. That and... he wanted to see what it would look like if Demon Slaying magic went up against Painting magic...
Two magic types both capable of using multiple different magic attributes... How interesting would their fight be?
As if knowing what he was thinking, Rill ran up to Grim and Asta's group.
"HEY GUYS!!"
"Hey Rill!" Asta waved back with a big smile on his face.
"Lets do our best and paint a masterpiece!!"
"Um sure~"

"WOAH!!"
Watching Rill's match almost made Grim jump out of his seat.
'He's using ice and fire!!'
Having never seen painting magic before, Grim was blown away by its use. Although he hadn't fought against him, Grim could already tell that the Captain of the Azure Deer was no ordinary person.
While he could see that he was inexperienced compared to captains like Yami and Mereoleona, the potential oozing out of him left Grim at a loss for words.
'This... tournament just keeps getting more and more interesting.'
After Rill's match was Luck's. Obviously Luck won. As someone who was capable of sparring against Grim for a time, it would be unthinkable if he lost in the first round. After him was Yuno's match. Since Yuno and Noelle were on the same team the outcome for fairly obvious. But what made it even funnier was the fact that Noelle was up against her older brother: Solid Silva.
While he may be able to intimate his little sister, Grim had seen this loser piss his pants and had lost any form of respect that he may have garnered in this lifetime.
While that match was going on, Grim decided to go talk to the wizard king. After all... He wanted to see how this self righteous defender of the weak would react to him after what he did to his opponents in round 1.
But just as he was about to go over there, several magic knights blocked his way.
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow.
"We've been ordered to not allow you anywhere near the king."
'The king?'
Looking over the magic knight's shoulder, he saw Julius sitting next to the Clover king.
'I forgot all about this dude.'
Patting the magic knight on the shoulder, Grim showed off a clean smile.
"Its fine, me and the king go waay back."
Seeing Grim starting to walk past him, the surrounding magic knight's blocked his way again.
"Hmm... Move." Still smiling at them, the look in Grim's eyes became dangerous as a savage aura burst out of his body and slammed into the magic knights.
Getting hit with his aura made the magic knight's go weak in the knees. But even so... they wouldn't move.
"Oh? Did I go to easy on you guys? Lets change that!"
Removing his savage aura, Grim flooded them with his killing intent.
"GYAAHH!"
"ARGHH!!"
"URGHHH!!"
Gripping their chests, the lot of them broke out in cold sweat as Grim's figure seemed to grow in stature and tower above them. In their eyes, Grim seemed to be surrounded by an ocean of blood. And to make matters even worse, he was still wearing that damn smile!
Reaching out with his hand, Grim was about to touch the face of the lead magic knight. But then he suddenly stopped. As much as he wanted to kill these insects, doing it in front of the wizard king would probably be a bad idea. And besides, even though he concealed it well, he had a suspicion that the wizard king was watching him.
'He really does like ruining my fun.'
Walking past the terrified magic knights, he left them frozen in place as he made his way over towards Julius and the king.

(3 minutes later)
"YOU CAN'T SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT! I'M A KING!!"
"King? Yeah, a fuc-KING idiot sounds about right."
Sitting next to Julius and the clover king, Grim laughed loudly at enraged king. It seems like he was still trying to grasp the dignity that a king should have. Too bad no one was buying it.
Doing there best to ignore them, only the wizard king was smiling at their conversation.
"Oi wizard king." Grim abruptly called out.
"Hmm?"
"Can we start round 2 already?"
"Round 2?" Looking up at the matches, he realized that it was about time that they moved on.
"I guess so."
