Chapter 48: 48

Days went by and the new school year fast approached.

Harry spent most of his time on developing and upgrading his hoverboard as well as making a few spares for advertisements.

Sirius and Remus were fortunately hooked on them and eventually preferred the boards to the brooms.

Hermione was ecstatic when she got to ride hers. At first, she was a bit hesitant and awkward, but slowly, the dexterous witch was soaring the skies in no time.

Over the summer break, Harry had planned out the basic model of the club that he planned to start in Hogwarts.

He had exchanged a few letters with McGonagall regarding the matter, and although a bit hesitant at first, she agreed after seeing the results of the students under Harry.

Apparently, the money that Greengrass talked about was truly minimal, and mostly included funding for the club activities.

'I really should have checked before starting the club.' Harry thought with a sigh.

Soon, it was the day when the students went back to Hogwarts by the bright red train.

"Is this seat taken." A dreamy voice asked as Harry, Hermione and Neville settled into their cabin.

"No. Come on in." Harry, recognising the girl called her in.

"Hey Luna. How have you been? Do anything interesting in the break?" Harry asked.

He had met the girl a few times last year, however, other than a few conversations, they hadn't talked much.

"Hello Harry. I have been good. I did go to the Black Forest in Germany to look for the crumple horned snorkack. Daddy said that there were a few sightings over there. Didn't find any though." Luna replied dreamily as she sat down comfortably.

"Nice. I bet you will find them if you look hard enough." Harry replied before catching the weirded-out look given by Hermione and Neville.

"You know they aren't real, right?" Neville asked.

"Just because you can't see them doesn't make them not exist. I lot of people get wrack spurts when they think about this. I wonder why that is." She continued innocently before looking out into the moving scenery.

"Oh.." Was all Neville said before going back to just relaxing.

Soon, time passed, and the hours merged together, and it was once again time for the first-year sorting ceremony.

Like always, the ceremony went by without incident. However, people were surprised when no new professor was announced for DADA.

"Headmaster. Do we not have a DADA professor this year.?" A Ravenclaw seventh year asked.

"Why do you ask, when we have Remus sitting here?" Dumbledore smiled lightly with a twinkle in his eye, amused at the situation.

This incited a wave of gasps of surprises. No professor had ever stayed in the position for more than a year.

"The curse is broken. The curse is broken." The Weasley twins started a chant, which led to the whole great hall resounding the cheer, causing the former werewolf to blush lightly.

"Alright. Settle down. I know that for the past few years, there have been a few complaints about the rather, how should a put this, sub standard quality of professors for DADA, however, this year, I am happy to announce that professor Lupin will be with us for a long time. I also hear that you students like his teachings. Which is just wonderful." Dumbledore announced from the podium.

"Now, before the feast begins, I would like to announce that a new club will be starting from next week. This is a place where students can gather to study, ask their fellow peers for questions or work together on assignments and homework.

I am happy to say that this is a very great initiative that will help us all. I encourage you all to give the club a go at least once it opens.

Now, let the feast begin."

.

Days passed and soon it was the first day of the newly established club.

Curious students poured in, checking out the facilities.

Shy first years joined in as well, courtesy of the professors encouraging them to visit if they have any questions or doubts or just make new friends.

Sceptical fifth years and above arrived, confused on how this club would help them if no professor is going to teach.

But slowly, many students visited the three combined classrooms that had been provided to the club and used it as an opportunity for social gatherings.

Overall, the first day of the club went by as expected. No one actually got any work done for the hour that they visited. Almost everyone was just there to check it out.

But Harry's hopes were up. And the hopes were placed correctly.

By the end of the third week, the club saw an influx of elder students who used the place a silent study area, curious and nervous first years, trying to understand the contents, as well as numerous students who grew up without magic trying to better understand the new culture.

However, most of the students that made up the numbers, were only from three houses.

However, the tides changed, when Daphne Greengrass, a well-respected heir in the Slytherin dorms was seen visiting the club on numerous occasions.

This led to a further influx of Slytherins by the fourth and fifth weeks, who, surprisingly didn't pick any fights or showed off their backgrounds.

But overall, the place of off to a great start.
