Soon, the boats started moving towards the castle in the distance.
At firsts not much happened, but soon, a lot of ohhh's and ahhh's sounded. Looking at where the rest were looking at, I looked up and saw a magnificent sight.
A towering castle shimmering in the night sky. Yellow light from torches along the side of the castle giving the castle a feel as if it was stuck in the past.
But the most noticeable feature of the castle in the distance would have to be the shimmering aura of magic saturated around it.
As we got closer to the castle, I could feel a pull from my body, as if it was hungrily devouring the mana in the air, as if a starving dog after seeing food.
The closer we got to the castle, the more suction I felt in my body, and the amount of mana entering my body slowly doubled every 10 meters.
A few minutes later, the boats docked by the shore, and the students jumped off.
Landing on the pebble filled shore, we followed Hagrid towards a huge door, on which he loudly banged.
Creak, booom.
With a loud creak and a bang, the door slowly opened, revealing a older witch in a dark green robe and a pointy witch's hat.
While her outfit looked comical, none dared to snicker in her presence.
Her stern face and the unconscious strict aura the witch was emitting caused all the students to quiet down.
"The fir's years. Professor McGonagall." Hagrid said to the professor.
"Thank you, Hagrid. I'll take it from here. You can go on inside." McGonagall replied as she turned towards us.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall.
"The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory and spend free time in your house common room.
The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history, and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honour. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours.
The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarted yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting.' Her eyes lingered for a moment on Neville's cloak, which was fastened under his left ear, and on Ron's smudged nose.
I will return when we are ready for you," said Professor McGonagall. "Please wait quietly."
With the quick introduction from McGonagall, the rest of the students fixed their clothes quickly and started to talk with their newly made friends.
"Harry Potter. How do you like the castle? Wonderful isn't it. I wonder if you could see such sights in the muggle world." Draco called out from the other side of the crowd.
As soon as he called out to me, murmurs and whispers about my name spread through out the small crowd of students.
"Hey Draco. The castle's wonderful, wouldn't see one like this in the muggle world. At least I haven't seen one yet." I shake his hand as he approaches me.
"Harry, don't talk to this git. Don't want to be corrupted by the wrong sort." Ron loudly spoke up from the side, causing every students' heads to turn towards him.
"What do you mean wrong sort. Don't be rude." I quickly comment.
"The whole family's dark, I tell you. Whole family went to Slytherin, I heard. All dark wizards come from there." He continued through the awkward silence of the crowd.
"So what you mean to say is that being in Slytherin makes you a dark wizard. That's new. I wonder how a 11 year old child is going to be terrorizing the world. Is there some device in the castle that can see the future?" I ask the red-faced child.
"Yeah, Weasley. I wonder what you mean by demeaning my family and the noble house of Slytherin. You better be prepared to back up your words to your betters." Malfoy commented.
Listening to me and Draco ganging up on him verbally, the dense and naïve kid was at a loss of words and just looked at me like I just murdered his entire family.
Just as he was about to answer, the door opened and out walked McGonagall.
"Move along now children. The sorting ceremony is about to begin." Her sharp voice cut through the awkwardness in the air.
Quickly, the students formed a neat line and followed her inside the castle.
As if forgetting all about the previous incident, the students looked around in awe at their surroundings.
Hermione went on about how the ceiling was enchanted and whatnot, while the older students looked at us eagerly.
"When I call your name, walk forward and put the hat on your head." McGonagall pulled our attention towards the front and unfurled a roll of parchment.
"Abbot, Hannah" "Hufflepuff.
"Bones, Susan." Hufflepuff.
Soon, one by one, students were sorted into the four houses, and eventually, it was my turn.
"Hhm. Interesting. Multiple memories, three personalities, that's rare. One's a Slytherin. The other's Gryffindor, the warrior, while the other is a Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, the kind intellectual. Quite a tricky situation we have here mr. potter. How do you say we go about this?" As soon as the hat touched my head, I felt a force invade my head. It felt quite similar to the Yamanaka Clan techniques I recalled from Madara's memories.
"To be honest, it doesn't really matter where I end up, so you can choose." I reply to the sorting hat.
"Well then that's an easy thing to do. Considering the memories of the warrior are the most predominant in your mind, lets put you in, GRYFFINDOR." The sorting hat yelled the last part loudly, inciting a roaring cheer from the Gryffindor table.
"We got Harry Potter. We got Harry Potter. We got Harry Potter." A pair of red heads that looked identical cheered while dancing by the Gryffindor table, while many students congratulated and welcomed me with open arms into the Gryffindor family.
The rest of the night went by very quickly. The main cast went to the same houses as canon, Dumbledore went on with his senile old man speech and told a bunch of kids to not do something dangerous.
Soon, we were all guided to our dorms where we were explained the rules and regulations and were told we would get our timetables the next day during breakfast.
A few minutes later, we were all inside our dorm rooms with our trunks by the foot of the bed and five beds in each room.
Since I had had a long rest during the train ride in, I didn't really feel tired, but the rest of the students in my room were dead tired after the heavy meal.
A few minutes after hitting their heads on the pillow, sounds of faint breathing and loud snoring filled the room.
