Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Progress
When she saw that name, she seemed to blank out for a minute.
'Why does this name sound familiar?' Serenity thought to herself as she stared at the man in the picture.
After spending a few minutes trying to remember where she had heard this name before, she decided not to keep worrying over it. She would just ask her grandfather if this guy had any relations to their family or if his last name was just coincidental, although she found the latter to be hard to believe, considering how he wanted to kill her entire family.
She pressed a few buttons on her computer and securely saved the results that had come up. She wasn't quite sure what she wanted to do with this knowledge, but one thing was for certain, she would protect her family.
Revenge was not something she cared for, she was too lazy, but if provoked, she will end them, plain and simple.
Despite not caring for revenge, the best way to protect her family was to know who the enemy was and whatever motive they have against her family.
For now, it isn't the time to alert her brother and grandfather about this Maxwell guy.
What baffles her the most is that she was able to find everything out about this guy except for his birth records which were sealed and she could easily get them, but she had a feeling that she already knew what was being hidden.
She also couldn't decide if she was just that ignorant and niave in her past life or if this guy had always been so dumb, what kind of guy plans to end a family, yet doesn't hide any information. Does he think no one would think of him?
Actually, he's right. No one thinks of him.
After being lost in her thoughts for a while, she suddenly thought about her brother, his friends are so powerful, so why didn't they help him when he was framed?
The only thing she could really think of that made sense, was that they must have all been outside the country on buisness or something and didn't know, but that's just too coincidental.
This guy may look like an idiot, but if he was able to plan all those schemes against us, he must have some brains.
Now that she had made so many mental notes, she decided against asking her grandfather about him right now.
She felt like if she brought him up, it would make her grandfather worry when she didn't have much solid evidence at this point.
All she had was proof that he was at the party talking with Arabella, Alex and some other unimportant groupies.
She decided to stop thinking so much about this right now, so she went into the bathroom and took a long shower before finally laying in bed.
She only had to lay down a few seconds before she fell asleep, she was so exhausted from Melody dragging her all over.
While she slept, Melody was busy texting her all about her time with Braxton, only to not get any reply, which made her frown.
Braxton saw her frown at her phone and reached out and pinched her face.
"Ow! What are you doing?" She said at him with a glare.
"You look much better when you smile babe." He said with a cheeky smile, playing innocent.
She couldn't help, but sigh at his response. "Serenity isn't texting me back."
Braxton was at a loss for words and just stared at his gorgeous girlfriend for a minute before deciding to just tell her.
"Babe, it's past midnight, she's probably asleep."
"Oh yeah.." She said.
He could only just shake his head at her simple-mindedness sometimes, but he also found this to be very cute. With that in mind he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to him. Even with her model height, she was still shorter than him, which he also thought was cute.
She looked at him curiously at why he was looking at her like she some kind of small animal, but before she could get a word out, she felt his lips on hers as he kissed her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck as the kiss quickly became more passionate making her weak in the knees.
Braxton reluctantly ended the kiss, but felt satisfied, seeing her reaction to him, her flushed cheeks and her big eyes were glazed over giving off a seductive vibe as she held on to him tightly so she wouldn't fall.
He wanted to kiss her again, but before he kid, she complained, "No more, I'm still sore from earlier."
He smirked with a proud expression as he picked her up and carried her to bed, laying down with her. 'This girl, really doesn't know what her words do to me sometimes.'
She snuggled into his chest and fell asleep.
He could only sigh and pull his phone out to text his friend.
After having to work over time to get all the paper work he had procrastinated on, done, Colton had just stepped out of the shower when he recieved a text from his friend.
Braxton: Melody fell asleep and now I'm left thinking about dead animals.
Colton raised an eyebrow.
Colton: Idiot.
Braxton read the text and threw his phone on the bedside table while thinking, 'he's just jealous because he can't cuddle Serenity. He better not text me when he gets blue balls from her falling asleep.'
If Colton had heard what Braxton was thinking he would have laughed, obviously he wouldn't let that happen, he would just help her build up more her stamina.
Poor Serenity doesn't even know what kind wild beast she awakened in Colton, as she is sound asleep in bed.
