Chapter 1: Chapter 1
It was a calm night. The stars were shiny brightly. Yet there was something uncanny about this silence. This eerie silence had something about it, as if a prologue to misfortune that was about to befall upon someone.
The streets were empty since it was almost midnight and everyone had already returned to their homes after a long day of work, but if one were to look closely they could see a guy, rushing towards his home.
"Drat" muttered the guy under his breath, as he thought of all the scoldings he would get from his parents, upon his return home. He urged his legs to move faster, but alas they could only move so. Tired and almost out of breath, he could hardly see what is in front of him, while he panted. He tried crossing the street, only to hear a loud horn, before he met his untimely death.
When he came about, he tried rubbing his head out of instinct. Only to realise, he had no hands. It was then that he noticed that only darkness surrounded him. Panicked, he tried shouting loudly, only for his efforts to yield no results.
Only now did he realize, that he was truly dead and his life flashed before him. His name was Nick. He was born in a middle class family and had a sister and a brother. Although they weren't rich, they weren't too poor either. As far as he was concerned, he was blessed to be born in an upper middle family and with parents who loved him. The thought of losing his family and being unable to see his family, made him shed tears.
Nick was unaware of how much time had passed and when he would finally free himself of this darkness. He had already spent what felt like ages in this prison of darkness. Nick kept shouting for someone to free him, but as usual he got no response. Finally, exhausting his strength he decided to shut up. Without any living creature to accompany him and talk to him and only boredom as a constant companion, he decided to go to sleep.
Years passed, Nick would often wake up from his slumber, only to be disappointed. Little by little as time passed, so did his sanity and humanity. Finally, one day came when he was a different person from his previous self. This Nick wasn't what one would describe a sane person.
It was then that he saw a light. Having being surrounded by darkness, this sudden light blinded him and there was instinctual desire to move away from the light. This was complete opposite from the other people who would have moved towards the light, but lets not forget Nick was sane no more.
No matter how much Nick tried, the light only ended up enlarging and soon engulfed him. When Nick came to, he couldn't believe his eyes. He was standing in front of white marbled palace, so beautiful like straight out of dreams. There were little people with equally small 2 white wings behind them, running after each other, all the while giggling. Had it been before, Nick would have surely been attracted by their melodious singing and their otherworldly faces. However, all he could think now was of revenge. Thinking of all that he had to suffer, while these pigeons got to enjoy so much made his blood seethe with rage.
