Chapter 14: Learn and Grow Stronger
"The match is over" said Endeavors sidekick before continuing "the winner is Kei"
'Man, that was tiring' said Kei as he sat on the floor
While Kei was catching his breath. Some of Endeavors sidekicks were checking up on Shoto's condition. Besides having some bruises here and there, shoto was fine.
"He over used his quirk. With a bit of rest he should be fine" said one of Endeavors sidekick
"Take him to be treated" said Endeavor as he looked at Shoto
Endeavor then turned around and looked at Kei.
When Kei saw that Endeavor was staring at him. He could not help but have a bad feeling.
As Kei started getting nervous, Endeavor finally spoke "stand up and head to the training room. We are going to increase your training difficulty starting today"
When Kei heard what Endeavor said he almost passed out. The training he was doing with Endeavor was already difficult, but now he wanted to increase it.
'Damn it, I won, so why am I the one getting punished' thought Kei as he started making his way to the training room while sulking.
As Kei made his way to the training room. Endeavor who was looking at some of his sidekicks take Shoto to get treated. Finally turned around and made his way to the training room.

Two long hours had passed. Kei, who had finished training was too exhausted to even get up from the floor.
Today's training with Endeavor was brutal. It was to the point that Kei who had been put through the training. Could only think this was a punishment.
"Are you wondering why I increased the training?" Endeavor asked Kei
When Kei heard Endeavors question. He felt that the answer to the question was obvious.
"Is it because I beat Shoto?" Asked Kei
"No" answered Endeavor with a calm look on his face
What Endeavor said next shocked Kei "it is because you took too many hits"
Endeavor then continued "it is true, that it is a good idea to figure out your opponents way of fighting.
Endeavor then said "but it is foolish to do it while taking so much damage from them"
When Kei looked at himself, he could see he had a few bruises around his body.
At first he did not think he had taken so many hits, but now that he looked closely. He had taken a bit more than twice the hits he had expected he took.
Although the majority were small bruises that would easily heal after a day. While the others would definitely take at least a week to fully heal.
"Now that you noticed. Do you still think, you do not deserve this punishment" said Endeavor with a serious look on his face
At this point Kei could only agree with Endeavor punishing him.
"The other reason for this punishment" said Endeavor as he was making his way toward the door of the training room
"Who gave you permission to use my signature moves in battle" said Endeavor as he left the training room
When Kei heard Endeavors second reason. He could only think of saying one thing.
'If I cannot use them in battle. Then why bother teaching them to me'

In a different room in Endeavors hero agency. Shoto, Who had been knocked out by Kei, finally woke up.
When shoto saw the unfamiliar ceiling and not the fighting ring. He knew that he had lost in his fight with Kei.
Shoto in this moment was depressed. Since the day he met Kei. He had trained rigorously for over a year and a half. After training hard for so long, Shoto felt confident that he could beat Kei after all that training.
Sadly for Shoto. Things did not go as he had planned.
During the fight Shoto had realized that he had underestimated Kei. During the fight, Shoto was slowly starting to realize that Kei was memorizing his attack patterns.
By the time Shoto realized, It was already too late. Kei who had been on the defensive had finally started to do his counter attack.
In the end. Shoto was struggling to stay in the fight. A little while later Shoto, who was already reaching his limit, had to use his final trump card.
'But even that was not enough' thought Shoto as he kept looking at the ceiling
When Shoto thought back to the fight. He remembered that Kei had used several of his fathers signature moves.
'He actually taught him so many of his moves' thought Shoto with a shocked look all over his face
Kei was the same age as him, but he had already learned so much from Endeavor. No matter how much he thought about it. It did not make sense for kei to learn so much from his father in such a short amount of time.
It was at that moment that a voice disrupted his thinking
"Your awake" said the voice
Shoto, who heard the voice. Turned his head towards the door. Only to find his father making his way inside before closing the door behind him.
"You underestimated your opponent Shoto" said Endeavor with a lecturing voice
When Shoto heard what his father said. He could only clench his hands in frustration.
After a few seconds of silence. Shoto who was now sitting on the side of the bed said "did you come to tell me that I would have won if I used my fire side"
"No" said Endeavor with a serious voice before he continued "you would have lost either way"
When Shoto heard what his father said, he was shocked. His father, who would always tell him 'if you want to become the best, you will need to use your fire side' was now saying that he still would have lost regardless if he used it.
"Are you telling me that I lost because you trained him" said Shoto
"Even if I did not train him, you still would have lost" said Endeavor without a single doubt in his voice
"How can you even know that?" Asked Shoto with a hint of anger in his voice
"The answer to that is simple. It is because of the training he does" said Endeavor
When Shoto heard the reason from his father, he was furious. He would train for several hours everyday. He would always put his best effort into improving his quirk. Yet his father was saying that Keis training was far superior to his own.
"What do you know. You don't know anything about how har-" before Shoto could finish his words, his father interrupted him
"After you finish your homework and eat something. You train your quirk for six hours every day" said Endeavor
When Shoto heard that. He knew his father had checked up on his training.
"So you know how hard I train. Yet you still have the nerve to say that my training is inferior to his" said Shoto with anger clearly in his eyes
"Just because you train the same amount of time. Does not mean the intensity of the training is the same" said Endeavor with a matter of fact tone
Shoto was silent. He did not know how hard Kei trained for his father to say that the difficulty of keis training was above his own.
"That boy was already naturally gifted when it came to raw power. Knowing this, he set his entire focus on controlling that raw power" said Endeavor to Shoto
Once Endeavor got to that point he said "you, on the other hand. You had been born with a great quirk. Yet, you had been focusing on only increasing the power of your quirk. Since you did nothing but power increase, your level of control is practically zero at this moment in time"
Endeavor was right. Shoto's control over his quirk was weak compared to Keis level of control. It was also because of this that Kei had a hard time measuring Shoto's attacks during their fight.
"If he did not have good control over fire. Do you think I would have taught him any of my signature moves" said Endeavor
When Shoto heard that. He knew his father would not have taught Kei such moves, unless he was sure Kei could use them well.
"I am also sure that you noticed at some point, that he was holding back" said Endeavor
Shoto did notice Kei holding back. When he realized that as the match was ending. During that time, he could only think that Kei was looking down on him.
"It is not that he was looking down on you. It was just that he could not use more power without losing control and potentially injuring you heavily as a result" said Endeavor
That is what Endeavor thought the reason Kei did not use more power during the fight.
"That is why I said you could not win. Although your power output is not greatly inferior to his, your level of control is" said Endeavor
When Shoto thought back. He had to admit that controlling the amount of ice he used was difficult. This was especially true as time went on. With his quirk reaching its limit and his body becoming harder to move.
"If you think you can surpass him while using half your strength. Then you should know he was holding back a lot more than that" said Endeavor before opening the door and leaving the room
Before he completely left he said a few final words to Shoto "learn from this fight and grow stronger from it"
At this moment Shoto was deep in thought about what his father had said to him. Finally after a while, he stood up and thought to himself 'It seems I need to change my training. As well as increasing the difficulty'

Today Kei returned home exhausted.
The moment Kei got to his room he got some clean clothing and headed to the bathroom to shower.
After he finished showering he headed to the kitchen to see what was for dinner.
When Kei got to the kitchen he asked Detective Naomasa "what are we having for dinner"
Detective Naomasa responded "I made hamburgers. It has been a while since we had some. So I figured I make some for us to eat today"
"Sounds great to me" said Kei as he was setting up the dinner table
Once Kei finished setting the table up. He and Detective Naomasa finally sat down to eat.
"Looks like practice was quite difficult today" said Detective Naomasa as he looked at Kei
"Training was harder today, but that is nothing new" said Kei
When Detective Naomasa heard Kei say that. He wondered just how Kei who was only nine could endure such training.
"That's right, I almost forgot to ask. How was work today?" asked Kei
When Detective Naomasa heard that, he began telling Kei all about his day at work. Although today was a rather easy day for Detective Naomasa. It did not mean that there was nothing for him to talk about.
As Kei continued to listen to Detective Naomasas story. He started to get a strange feeling that he could not figure out. It was like something was trying to remind him of something important.
Finally once dinner was over. Kei washed the dishes and then went to his room to rest.
Once he was in his room. He laid on top of his bed and started to think of what that feeling from earlier was.
After a while of resting. He finally remembered something very important.
'It is going to happen soon' thought Kei as a depressed expression emerged on his face
Although Kei did not know the exact date. He knew that the fight between All Might and All For One was going to be soon.
During the past couple months Kei had tried to convince All Might about the coming fight that he would have with All For One.
But no matter how hard he tried to convince him. It all came to no avail.
As Kei thought up to there. He could only think that some things truly were inevitable.
