Chapter 4: Time with Bella
After a couple of days, and a few million dollars worth of parts, I managed to design a new phone that was comparable to the late twenty teens from my old world but used satellite signal for everything. They'd be a bit more expensive but would have a signal anywhere.
Getting back home, I noticed Bella was in my driveway, just sitting in her car.
"Bella? Is everything alright?" I asked while walking up to the driver's side door.
"Yeah. I just wanted to get away from everything. Where were you? Taking a walk in the woods?" Bella asked while stepping out of her car.
"Just got off work. Here, give me your phone." I said as we stepped into the house.
"Just got off work? Do you work at R&D Enterprises? The company that made my car?" she asked as she handed me her phone.
"I own the company, Bella. There you go. And this one is for Uncle Charlie." I said handing her her new and old cell phones, along with Charlie's.
"You...own?" Bella asked, lost for words.
"Yes, Bella. I started the company more than four years ago by myself. But only Charlie and my employees know about that publicly, so please don't go spreading that bit of news." I said.
"I promise I won't. So you designed everything yourself?" Bella asked while sitting down.
"Yep. I was almost finished with the personal aircraft when Uncle Charlie found out what I was doing. That's when he told me how bad the job finding was for my fellow graduates. So I hired them all, and the speed of producing my prototypes took off. I also let them design their own things and give them a nice cut of any profits their ideas may bring." I said while I was looking through the fridge.
"So my car was?" she asked.
"Still a gift from Uncle Charlie and myself. I offered an aircraft before he reminded me you were still seventeen and asked if I could change it to an electric car. So it's from both of us." I responded blankly.
"Well, thanks again." she said.
"You're welcome, Bella. Now I always love seeing you. But I'm assuming something happened for you to just show up at my house and just sit in my driveway. What happened?" I asked while closing my fridge empty handed and sitting down across from her.
"Do I stink?" she asked hesitantly.
"Bella. Between the two of us, you always had the good hygiene. Who made you think you stink?" I asked.
"Nobody. I'm sure I just misread the situation. What's wrong? No food in your fridge?" she asked, changing the subject.
"More like nothing looks good. I might just take a spacecraft and go to Japan for some Ramen." I said, jokingly.
"If you do, take me with you. I've always wanted to go there." she said seriously.
"Alright. I'll probably just go to the diner for today but how about I pick you up from school on Friday and we make a weekend of it? With kimonos and everything?" I asked.
"DEAL!" Bella screamed in my face like we made a blood oath.
"Alright. Call Charlie to meet us there and I'll discuss the details with him. Just call me when you're out of school and I'll come pick you up." I said as I walked out the door with Bella hot on my heals, already dialing her dad.

Friday
Hadrian was leaning against Bellas car in the parking lot, waiting for her to get off school when he heard the bell ring.
A few minutes later, students were filing out of the school, celebrating the end of week. It didn't take long for students to notice the guy leaning against Bellas car. While curious as to who he is, nobody tried to talk to him.
Bella finally exited the school and was halfway to her car before noticing Hadrian waiting for her. She had completely forgotten about her plans to go to Japan until that moment.
Throwing herself into a hug, she yelled out "Hadrian!".
"Hehe. Hey sis. How was your day?" Hadrian asked.
This started alot of hushed whispers from the nearby students that heard their conversation.
"Good. When are we leaving?" she asked with some excitement.
"As soon as we get your car home. Ready?" I asked.
Instead of answering me, Bella turned around to have an intense stare down with Edward.
Following her gaze, I noticed all the Cullens plus 1. The interesting part was Alice was off to the side just like Edward. Looking at her, I froze.
I don't know how long we were staring into each others eyes, it could have been a second or a minuite, but I awoke to the sound of screeching tires.
Breaking our staring contest, I looked over to notice there was a van sliding towards us. My only thought was to protect Bella since she was a regular human.
I grabbed Bella and pulled her behind me as I lifted my other arm with fingers out to slow the van to a stop as gently as possible once it reached me.

Alice POV
'Today's the day! I'm the same age as Edward but he still met his mate before I did. But it's okay, nothing is ruining today fir me.' I thought to myself.
We walked outside and noticed everyone was looking towards Bella. Edward and I both had the same thought at this moment.
'Why is my mate hugging Edward's mate?!'
'Why is my mate hugging Alice's mate?!'
(Since Edward can read Alice's mind, he knew Hadrian was her mate just before witnessing the hug)
"You two need to calm down. Your double emotions are driving me nuts. They do love each other, but not the way you two are thinking." Jasper whispered.
We both calmed down in time to hear my nate call Bella "Sis." This led us both to have a similar thought once again.
'At least there's someone I can trust to watch her while I can't.'
'At least there is someone I can trust to stay with him while I can't.'
After their conversation, we finally made eye contact. Time froze until I heard tires screeching. Looking to the side, I saw a van sliding towards my mate. My world started to shatter as Edward and I started to run for our mates.
Immediately after we started to move, we saw my mate pull Bella behind him as he raised his other hand.
Another similar thought went through our minds.
'Good. I'm still going to save her, though. I just found you, i won't lose you to an accident I can easily save you from'
'Good. I'm still going to save you, though. I just found you, Im not letting you go that easily.'
Running up to him, I noticed my mate was watching me from the corner of his eyes...but that should be impossible. "I must be imagining it.' I thought to myself.
'That was until I saw Edward slam into Bella without moving her an inch, just before I slammed into my mate. Realizing he hadn't moved, I started to panic, trying to move him out of the way just before his fingers touched the van.
I froze. He's reaching for the van like he's catching an egg. Being gentle but firm.
Looking up, our eyes met once again just to hear his voice for the first time.
"Calm down, i got this. Everything is going to be okay."
