Chapter 31: Meteor !
"Emergency evacuation alert ! Emergency evacuation alert !". Sound of alarm were going off !
"The huge meteorite will hit the ground in 20 minutes ! The situation is dangerous ! Please evacuate immediately !". More announcements were made.
"Disaster level - Dragon !".
"Experts say City Z will disappear off the map of the world ! Please evacuate immediately !". The warning was made in City Z in an endless loop.
The harsh warning was made all over City Z, all the warnings made in endless loop warned that City Z was about to be destroyed and everyone needed to evacuate out of City Z. This unprecedented disaster made the heroes in the heroes association feel helpless. The meteorite was not a monster or a mysterious being. With its huge size and falling speed, the meteor was a natural disaster that the heroes association was unable to stop.
Urban railway platforms, high speed ring roads, all transportation hubs were paralysed. Everyone seems to be stuck in a car trying to get out of City Z. There were millions of citizens in City Z that evacuated about half an hour ago. But the more anxious the citizens of City Z were the worse the traffic were when they tried to evacuate from City Z causing these millions of people to be trapped in City Z.
"It's a big meteorite !".
"We need help !".
"Damn ! Why is life so unfair ? I haven't had a girlfriend yet !".
"Me too ! I want a girlfriend !".
"Sigh ! I am going back to get married tomorrow ! Maybe it's a good thing this happened ?".
Voices of the citizens of City Z could be heard all over City Z.
For some unknown reason, the meteorite that was suppose pass by Earth suddenly departed from its orbit. The meteor's trajectory had changed from outer space to hitting City Z.
The sudden crisis made citizens of City Z feel hopeless. They feel that not only will City Z be wiped out by the meteor but the nearby cities will be effected as well. This huge disaster was so large that it will sweep across several cities. The coverage is so large that even if you want to escape you can't. Due to that some of the citizens of City Z has given up any hope of surviving this disaster.
Seeing the sky getting brighter and brighter in City Z, many citizens of City Z either cried in silence or called their relatives, lovers, friends or anyone they knew. Most of the citizens in City Z wanted to say their last words to either their relatives, lovers, friends or anyone they knew.
Far away from City Z, another scene was happening.
Despair ? Sadness ?
No that had nothing to do with us.
These were photographers, camera men and journalists who adjusted their lens and equipment to record the disaster in City Z.
These journalists, camera men and photographers did not care what happened in City Z. They just wanted to record a once in a life time disaster and make some money.
City Z !
Genos who had received an order from the heroes association was carrying a heavy suitcase loaded with the latest equipment. Genos walked swiftly through the tall buildings in City Z. Behind Genos, an old man seemed to be following him.
This old man was the third ranked S class hero, Bang, martial arts master and creator of water stream smashing rock fist. Known as the hero, "Silver Fang !".
As Bang caught up with Genos he asked, "Genos wouldn't it be better to leave City Z ? I don't want the younger generation of heroes to die so early.".
"Then why don't you leave ?", Genos replied in a mechanical tone.
"I am different from you. The dojo I started, the most important thing to me is in City Z. So I can't leave.", Bang said in a sad tone. For Bang the dojo he started in City Z is the most precious thing in his heart, he would prefer to be destroyed with his dojo rather than leave City Z.
"The most important thing to me is also in City Z. I won't let the meteor fall in City Z.", Genos said with a resolute tone.
"It's probably not easy to stop the meteor. In fact I think it's impossible to stop the meteor with our current ability.", Bang said in a sad tone.
"I haven't tried yet. How do you know that I can't stop the meteor from hitting City Z ?", Genos asked in a resolute tone. Genos opened the heavy suitcase and prepared his weapon to stop the meteor.
"Oh ! Young people nowadays...", Bang said as he looked at Genos. Bang's eyes lit up as he looked at Genos, there was a glimmer of appreciation for Genos's resolution to stop the meteor.
"My master taught me that no matter what kind of danger I face, I can't give up. Giving up means you are doomed to fail but if you try your best you might have the chance to ... succeed.", Genos said as he thought about his teachers master Duke and master Saitama.
"Your master does not seem to be very encouraging in your endeavours.", Bang said.
"Well my master always told me to maintain a humble heart so I won't be crushed by any set backs.", Genos said.
"...", Bang said.
