Chapter 6: Academy, II

We are just about to reach the city of Rora, and I've shat my pants two times in the meanwhile.

I know, I know, "But you're about one year old now, how can you not control it yet?"

Listen here, idiot, I'm still just one year old. I should still be crying in my mother's arms, or that's the norm for babies.

I have a consciousness from which I can understand and comprehend, but I still can't control my physiologic needs.

As for my mother, she still pampered me as usual, it was just yesterday after realizing I could speak that she was a little distant.

Other than that, nothing noteworthy happened besides how Lyle and Abelie had heated sex after I was supposedly fast asleep, or so they thought.

Hell, hearing all those moans and seeing such sexy sights should make me horny as heck, but surprisingly it doesn't.

I'm thankful for not being erect to my mother and father having intercourse, that would be weird as heck.

Ahem, besides the topic of sexy times between my new parents, the only thing I looked forward to, was this, the city of Rora.

"Cute couple, we're here," The driver of the carriage called from the front.

"About time," my father sighed.

"It's been a while seen we've been here, dear." Abelie held Lyle's hand as she looked out of the window, taking in the sight.

"Can I see?" I asked, acting all cutesy.

"Of course, my dear baby, here it is," My mother wrapped her arms under my shoulders and lifted me up.

"..."

The sight I witnessed left me slack-jawed.

"Pretty, right?"

I just bobbed my head up and down.

Rora, a city famous for developing successful mages which adventured throughout the whole of Crisyes.

Such a wonderful city was only two days away from my house back in Stera.

Is it alright to call this a city? I wondered to myself.

Here's how this city seems to be: The streets are bustling with people all around, some are drinking, some are negotiating, and some seem to be drunk and depressed in some darkened hallways.

We are riding our carriage in the middle of the road, which seems to be specifically made for transport, whether it is for merchandise or for people, it doesn't look like it matters.

The buildings and houses all have a romanesque vibe to them, it's as though I've been moved back in time on Earth.

What differed from Earth, though, was the glassy-type barrier surrounding Rora as a whole.

How did I not notice that at the entry? I guess I still can't feel magic at all.

Besides the barrier, I was taken by surprise when I got to bask in a wonderful view of different flashing lights coming from a training pitch.

"So those are the spells I'll get to use, huh?" I wondered to myself, "How beautiful."

"I know, right?" My mother smiled, her grin stretching from one ear to the other.

"Sir, madam, this is your station." The driver notified us of our arrival.

"Thank you, sir," My father bowed a little after we departed from the carriage, paying him right after.

"I wish you all the best, young couple." The old man smiled, a missing tooth could be noticed.

I decided to make his day better.

"Bye," I waved my hand.

"Aww, would you look at that, what a mannered child you all have," The man's smile brightened even further up.

"You came here in Rora to secure him a bright future, haven't you?" His eyes pointed to my father.

"Correct, our son seems to be a little special, so make sure to remember that you've served him. It may prove useful to your business in the future." Lyle winked.

"Bwahaha, I'll do just that." He laughed out loud, attracting some gazes, he then took his hat off and brought it to his chest, "Well then, Lyle, I wish you all the best."

"So this is the place we'll be living in from now on, huh?" I asked as I eyeballed the place we'd be renting out.

It seems to be just above average, just like our financial status.

Our family isn't poor or rich, but just above average. Even back in Stera, we had a wide two-story house for ourselves, and my father could hire a maid at any time, we just didn't need one.

Lyle was an adventurer that only took quests at random times, even I didn't know if he called himself retired or not, whereas Abelie, my dear mother, has said herself that she does not want to do adventuring anymore.

"Guess I should be back on a streak again, shouldn't I?"

"Yeah, I'll also try to get a job so we can live comfortably here, my dear." Abelie gave a nice chu~ on the lips to my Lyle, and I just had to cover my eyes, as if it was their secret or something.

***

Yeah, our life in the city of Rora began like this, my father became a full-time adventurer, whereas my mother worked for a bakery. The leftover meals in the evening were what I most looked forward to.

I didn't just waste my time uselessly during the weeks, months, and years here.

I also trained physically, mentally, and of course, magically… No, I didn't train magically, I just trained myself in the magic aspect normally.

I didn't want to excel in just one of the two, magic or sword, I wanted to be a prodigy for both, which in fact, it did manage to make my name written on papers from a young age.

***

"Helis, wake up! You don't want to be late on the first day of school, do you?"

My mother called out from across the stairs on the first floor.

Yes, we now have a mansion here in Rora after my father stumbled upon treasure enough to retire us for life.

"Ah, yeah, yeah…" I groaned, feeling groggy.

"Yawn," I let out a breath as I stretched out.

The sun is out and the sky is blue. It is bound to be a beautiful day.

Finally, I'm about to enter the Magic Academy which is basically a high school on terms of Earth.

And that's correct, I'm sixteen now.

I smirked, "Let the journey to strike all the bitches down… begin!"
