Chapter 49: Iron Tiger
Alex arrived with two other squad leaders.
After seeing the battle earlier, he knew he was no match for Iron Tiger by himself.
Alex determined from the previous battle that Iron Tiger has a tier 1 master combatant physique and he is a tier 5 advanced swordsman.
Alex himself has a tier 5 elite combatant physique and he is a tier 4 advanced swordsman.
As frustrated as he may be, he knew that there was only a slim chance of him beating Iron Tiger in a one-on-one battle.
The difference between a tier 4 advanced swordsman and a tier 5 advanced swordsman is not huge. Alex still has a chance if the only difference is between swordsmanship.
However, Iron Tiger has a tier 1 master combatant physique which makes it impossible for Alex to win alone.
He brought Sabre and Warren with him in order to defeat Iron Tiger.
They couldn't take too long though, their armies wouldn't be able to hold on against the enemy elites and other commanders if they didn't return quickly enough.
"Ha! Look at the losers consoling each other. You think three of you nitwits is enough to stop me?!"
The three of them did not answer and just started to circle Iron Tiger from different directions.
The battle began as Alex tried to stab Iron Tiger on his back. As if he had eyes behind his back, Iron Tiger turned around and sent Alex sliding back with a powerful blow.
Sabre and Warren didn't let go of this chance though as they attacked Iron Tiger with slashes.
They thought they had him already since there were two attacks from different angles but Iron Tiger only has one sword.
They were surprised as both of them were also sent sliding back.
"How did he do that?!"
Sabre and Warren thought to themselves.
Their questions were quickly answered as they saw Iron Tiger holding twin short swords. His two-handed sword was left on the ground.
"You nitwits thought I can only fight with heavy weapons? You really are frogs in the bottom of a well!"
After a few minutes, they've already exchanged more than fifty blows with Iron Tiger.
Although Iron Tiger was getting tired, so were they. This was not a good sign for them.
They have to finish the battle quickly and it seems like there is even a chance for them to lose against Iron Tiger.
With Eden out of the picture and the three of them entangled in a battle with Iron Tiger, the nobles' army seemed to have regained their morale and the allied army soldiers were getting pushed back.
Seeing the current battle developments among the two armies made Alex, Sabre, and Warren even more anxious to finish their battle with Iron Tiger.
As a result, not only did they not finish the fight faster, but it looked like they might get finished instead by Iron Tiger!
The three of them decided to focus on their current battle first. There is no point in worrying about the armies if they can't even win themselves.
In the meantime, Blanc decided to join the battle to equalize the power balance for a bit.
This is not an effective countermeasure though. They were slowly losing the battle.
Either the army or the three squad leaders should win their own fights in order for them to have a chance to turn the tide of the battle around.
Things looked grim as time went by but nothing was changing.
The three squad leaders couldn't defeat Iron Tiger and Blanc was at a stalemate against the enemy army.
The situation went from bad to worse as Iron Tiger's battle cry could be heard.
A faint sharp red light extended from one of Iron Tiger's swords and pierced Warren's right shoulder.
Iron Tiger broke through to tier 1 master swordsman!
Alex despaired as he felt Iron Tiger's increase in strength.
This was the same sword light that their captain Helena used to kill the yeti! This was sword intent!
After ranking up in terms of combat technique, Iron Tiger didn't waste a second and started attacking Alex's trio again.
Warren was wounded and they were both tired.
A couple of minutes later, all three of them were down.
Blanc was getting increasingly anxious. He was continuously scanning the battlefield for chances that could turn the tide of the battle around.
Unfortunately for him, there were none.
"Hahahahaha! Is that all you got?! I told you nitwits that you guys were no match for me! Die!"
As the three of them were about to be killed by Iron Tiger…
"What do you think you're doing to my comrades you senile old fart?!"
*BANG*
A kick landed squarely on Iron Tiger's nose sending him flying for a couple of meters while rolling on the ground.
"C-Captain! Thank God! You're finally back!"
Once again, Helena arrived with immaculate timing to save the day.
