Chapter 9: Dark Trainer
Three Pokéballs were thrown out and then appeared a Ratticate, an Ekans then a Grimer.
The man shouted with a voice filled with confidence. "Kid just give up and hand over your Pokéballs and I may just let you get away with your life. Raticate use dig!"
Kimi stood on the spot and then said. "You have me outnumbered and outmatched for sure but do you really want to target a child of the Jenny family and so close to the city?"
The man replied calmly. "This city is not as peaceful as it looks on the surface, you are just one kid of that family. Many can easily replace you since you probably have yet to show any achievements."
Kimi shrugged as she replied. "Well I did try but there is no getting through to a person like you. You do not seem like a Team Rocket member but you have a similar aura about you. A wanted criminal perhaps? Interesting! Do you have a bounty on your head? Are you worth much?"
The man laughed then his gaze suddenly turned cold. "I have given you the chance to give in and live but you did not appreciate it."
Kimi backed off and then ordered through the use of her aura. 'Eevee and Growlithe stay on the move and follow my instructions carefully this time! You have not yet properly healed up from your previous battles and built up some fatigue so you must be extra careful.'
The battle had already begun as poison stings and other types of attacks were directed at both of them as they both ran around according to Kimi's instructions. 'Helping hand! Use ember now!"
Growlithe had been lined up perfectly to avoid an attack and then send out an ember towards Ekans which had been boosted in power.
Although the opponents were more powerful and more experienced, Kimi had more experience and she was carefully directing her Growlithe and Eevee to evade the incoming ranged attacks while they both kept their distance.
Kimi continued to keep her distance and sighed. "If only I had another Pokémon that was able to do battle at this time.."
She continued to duck and dive when attacks came her way but she placed a berry into her mouth just in case she was affected by the surrounding poison. "This is totally not fair. Poison users are so annoying. Burn these annoying things! Use ember! Turn this around!"
Another Ember came at the right time and Ekans was inflicted by a burn along with the additional damage from the helping hand empowering the attack so it was gradually losing its will to fight while Grimer was hit by the remains of the ember.
The battle seemed to be in Kimi's favour but suddenly the man shouted. "Come back up and attack!"
The Raticate came up from the ground but it did not target the Growlithe or the Eevee and instead came from underneath Kimi and chose to target her but Kimi did not show any signs of surprise or fear.
The man laughed as the Raticate appeared and was about to end Kimi's life. "You kids are all too easy. We of the dark world do not care about rules or honour. It does not matter what we do so long as we can win!"
Kimi made a small movement as she seemed to loosen something on her body just before the Raticate was given the order to come up so when the Raticate appeared, many weights dropped from her body and fell down onto it before Kimi moved out of the way of the attack. "Now.. you were saying?"
She had a lifetime of experience and the use of her aura so could always come up with various methods to overcome a life and death crisis, especially one where her Pokemon could not guard her when she had been targeted by such an opponent.
Although she was not confident in defeating a Raticate in a solo battle with her own power, she was confident that the weights would injure it and have a great affect on the battle.
With Eevee and Growlithe keeping Grimer and Ekans busy from a distance with their helping hand and ember combo, Ekans took another hit and was unable to fight and just as the Raticate was subdued for a moment, another powered up ember was fired towards the Raticate which was struggling to free itself.
The man took out two sharp daggers and had a fierce look in his eyes as he started to wipe a substance on them and waited for his opportunity.
Another ember hit Grimer and the man grew more anxious but he saw Raticate freeing itself so he smiled. 'Now is the right time. Once their owner is dead then their cooperation will fall apart.'
He threw one dagger towards Kimi and then ran towards her with the other in his hand.
A dagger was coming from in front of her from a man much taller and stronger than her then from behind there was a Raticate that had jumped to attack her.
In a split second, she moved and ducked a little to avoid the stab and moved around the man outside or his line of sight.
Her palm struck out towards his lower back which forced him into the direction of the fang attack from the Raticate. 'I guess this could be called a mini force palm for now considering how little energy I can use to attack or defend myself but this is enough.'
She then shouted. "Combo move again!"
Unknown to the man that was struggling in pain after being attacked by his own Pokémon and after he had poisoned his own Raticate, Kimi had unclipped the belt on his waist so it had fallen down.
Kimi picked it up and then called Grimer back just as it was about to attack Growlithe when its attention was focussed elsewhere.
She then used another one to call back the defeated Ekans.
Suddenly the Raticate that was poisoned was also hit by the ember and so was the man who had gained many burns on his body so the man passed out from the pain he had to endure which gave her the opportunity to act freely.
Kimi looked at his defeated state and then called back Raticate before taking out some rope to tie him as she carefully checked his body for anything dangerous. "This guy could be dangerous against some kids or adults who are more honourable and honest in battle but he could barely qualify to be an official grunt of Team Rocket."
She then went through his pockets and bags to search for his identification and other things so she quickly found some illegal and unregistered Pokéballs along with some different knives, poisons and other things that looked like his trophies from his previous kills. "He most likely was never going to let me get away even if I gave him what he wanted. Time to go report this since he is tied up. Growlithe, you grab him by his collar and pull him towards the city gate and Eevee can help too."
She had also found a pass along with a journal which contained some knowledge of the dark parts of Viridian City and Pewder City so she was very pleased with her overall gains. "I need to get in contact with the dark world soon but it does not hurt to be more prepared and have better self protection methods."
As she walked towards the gates of Viridian City, she twirled the daggers in her hands after she had wiped away the poison. 'I need to leave this city too. Nobody would believe me if I told them but the boss of Team Rocket is the gym leader who many respect and rely on. It is no wonder the crime rate here is so bad.'
Kimi then grinned. 'The gains of today were not bad! Three different water types to add to my Pokédex and I can consider what to do with them later while I did gain two of them so I may keep one of them. Then there is the Raticate, Ekans and Grimer which can either be kept or handed over along with gaining the bounty for this guy if he is wanted for his crimes.
After this.. I should really take a trip to the Pokemon Centre. I need to practice making different types of potions and sprays again so that I am prepared for any future injuries. A healing or support Pokémon would come in handy in the long run too.. Chansey or Miltank would both make excellent additions for providing support out of combat but I will leave that until I can find information on their location.'
Her gains were not just monetary or in power as she had allowed her two main Pokemon to gain experience against a deadlier opponent that had a better team in terms of quality and quantity.
Kimi even had to make use of berries so that there were no after effects that would linger in her own, Growlithe's and Eevee's bodies from the poisons that were released in the surroundings.
After they had rested up, they would definitely feel the effects of their growth through their experiences.
While defeating many Magikarp and Goldeen was beneficial and then there was them both defeating two Poliwag as a team, their most beneficial battle was against the man who had failed to identify himself and wished to rob and kill Kimi especially since there was a big difference in terms of power and experience but also the fact that her own team was outnumbered.
It was kind if lucky that Kimi only encountered someone from that world that was only to that level of skill and power while they had also greatly underestimated her since she was a child but if she wished to avoid anymore potential dangers, she needed to leave Viridian City and build her power as soon as possible.
Giovanni and Team Rocket were much too close and where they were present, other criminals lurked around too and not all of them would be so easy to deal with. 'Indeed.. it was a rookie move to stay out until later but I figured that since it is so close to the city, it would be a little safer. That is an error on my part.. but at least I did what I had set out to do. It is good that Growlithe had hit with its ember otherwise I would have had to treat the Poliwags myself and would have had to make them put out the fires. This is why I need to be better prepared in the future.'
