Chapter 1: Failed Expectations

Transmigration is something that all nerds, geeks, and otakus want to experience. The process of dying and leaving the so-called "crappy Earth" and getting transferred into another world filled with dragons, magic, and immortals is everyone's dream.

Every piece of literature glorifies it all, but it did not work in favor for one young man.

"Damn, why do I have to get these crappy jobs."

A young man could be seen in an old pair of shorts and a T-shirt digging up something with a shovel.

"Ugh, what the hell!! This is supposed to be a chance for another life; why am I shoveling up bird shit!"

Although the man yelled, he ensured no one was around to hear it.

Five years ago, Yi Xuan, a stereotypical nerd, went to buy the new hit game Super Smash Sisters, and when walking back home, he was unfortunately hit by a speeding truck.

Yi Xuan woke up with someone else's body, who unfortunately died due to an injury. After arriving in this world, Yi Xuan received the memories of that person and understood what kind of place he was at.

He was now Aldrin Schnite, a cultivator in the Flaming Sun Sect.

When Yi Xuan first got here, he was very excited. Wasn't transmigration a dream of all nerds? However, as was mentioned before, his hopes were dashed when he didn't get any new transmigration gift.

The first year passed slowly. He learned about how cultivation works and how bad his talent was.

When YI Xuan first got into this new body, Aldrin was in the 2nd stage of Qi Forming. That means he wasn't even considered a cultivator.

He worked very hard and, after a year, got to the 4th. Yi Xuan, thankfully, got a job from a young man called Hansel, who let him serve him.

This made it very easy for Yi Xuan to continue cultivating. When things started to go up for Yi Xuan, his friend and employer, Hansel Hope, died on a journey outside of the sect.

This devastated Yi Xuan. Not only was his money-making ways gone, but one of his only friends had died. Yi Xuan has been forced to go into janitor duties ever since.

Now that four years had passed, he finally reached the 9th rank of qi forming. Once he breaks through this major realm and enters qi refining, Yi Xuan will exit the sect and live in a small town, where he would be considered a god.

Yi Xuan knew his talent was terrible, so he didn't wanna waste any more years in a place where he was considered not strong. That was why Yi Xuan believed that transmigration was a curse.

"Finally cleaned everything up."

Yi Xuan looked at the floors of the barn and sighed.

"This will be my last day here. I'm on the precipice of breaking through, and once that happens, I'm out of here."

Walking over to a purple cow Yi Xuan smiled.

"John, even though your shits smell like death, it was fun knowing you."

"Greg, you gotta start using the bowl for your waste; the next person who comes won't be as tolerant."

"Rebecca... I don't care about you; you can die for all I care."

Yi Xuan snorted as he looked at the glaring face of the Gray Swallow.

After the first year of being a janitor, he was promoted to the cleaner of the building where the beast pets were located.

As he said his goodbyes to the animals, he heard a high-pitched voice behind him.

"Elder brother Aldrin, have you lost touch with your human side and turned to the beasts for support?"

"Haha, junior sister Frey, of course, I am still human; it's just that I was saying goodbye to my hardworking friends here as I am gonna ask for a leave from the sect."

"Oh, you are leaving the sect? You better not be doing this to get out of your duties; you know how Elder Dran is about this stuff."

"Haha, you misunderstand, junior sister; I am going to ask for a leave to see if I can work at one of the sects businesses below the mountain. That would mean I am exempt from ever coming back here and thus can live my life freely without ever scooping up another piece of dung again."

Shock could be seen on Frey's face as she heard Aldrin's statement.

"This... you mean you will be leaving the mountain forever?"

Frey's voice started to quiet down as she started speaking. Aldrin gave a slight smile to Frey.

"Yes, I'm on the brink of breaking through to the Qi Refining realm, which means I would be a true cultivator. What kind of cultivator is wants to be doing janitorial work in a barn? So, I'll use my status as a cultivator to live an easy life as a small business owner."

Frey did not speak as she looked at Aldrin with sadness.

"Haha, junior sister, you wouldn't be sad about me leaving, would you?"

Aldrin gave a slight smile as he looked at Frey. Frey's face turned red as she turned around in a fit.

"Hmph, who would care about a poop scooper like you, and who is to say you won't have to pick up another piece of poop ever again? Stupid elder brother!"

"Haha, you don't have to be embarrassed about missing me; it's not like you would be the only one!"

"Hmph, no one cares about you, and the only person who would slightly care is Elder Dran, but he only cares because he would have to find another janitor."

Frey stomped off as she kept on yelling meaningless insults. Soon she could no longer be seen, and Yi Xuan sighed.

'Although she is the classic tsundere she is growing up too fast. To think she will be becoming an inner disciple soon, someone as talented as her shouldn't be near me, trash.'

Yi Xuan wasn't saying that because he wanted to put himself down, but because if someone talented and cute like her were to keep hanging around Yi Xuan, he would get beaten up by some inner disciple trying to win her love.

Yi Xuan had known Frey for a couple of years now. She was Hansel's younger sister, so they all hung out a lot back then.

Although she seems cheerful to Yi Xuan now, after her brother's death she was very quiet. Thankfully after awhile she was able to go back to her normal self but she was never quite the same.

'Well, Hansel, I tried my best raising her like you wanted her to be. Everything else is up to her.'

Yi Xuan sighed as he locked up the building. After leaving the barn building, it was already dark, so he headed to his home.

His home was a small place in the same area all the outer disciples of the sect lived. He only had a room and a kitchen. Going to his room, he sat down on the bed and got in a meditating position.

The cultivation technique Yi Xuan has been using since he got here is the Ash Sink Sutra. It is a low-level cultivation technique that is considered to be one of the worst ones. Yi Xuan didn't care, though, because this was good enough for him.

He didn't need anything crazy because his talent was just too poor. It would just be a waste of money if he got something better than this.

Yi Xuan was sitting on his bed in a concentrated state. He could feel the qi all around him, slowly turning and floating like waves on the ocean.

Breathing in a deep breath of air, he followed the cultivation manual as he has always done. He slowly sucked in the qi through his pores and into his body. Following the circulation route shown in the manual, the qi went through each of his meridians and to the multiple balls of gas in his stomach.

The dark red balls were pseudo-dantians, better known as Qi seeds. Depending on how many qi seeds you can form before forming your dantian you can tell how talented a person will be. Yi Xuan had a measly three, which was far inferior to the genius of the clan, who had up to 18 qi seeds!

The three qi seeds grew darker as time passed. They were soon so dark it almost was black. When that happened, Yi Xuan felt a sense of repulsion when he tried to put more qi in the seeds. This was a sign of being able to break through

Steadying his mind Yi Xuan used his spiritual power to condense the three balls into one. This was an arduous process. It was the equivalent of putting two positive magnets beside each other.

Of course, the better your spiritual power, the easier it is to break through. Yi Xuan however didn't have that talent, so he could only brute force it. After about an hour of mental strain, a strange popping sound was heard throughout the house.

The once deep red balls of qi were now one big shining ball emanating a bright orange color.

Qi washed over Yi Xuan's body as he was being reborn. The qi that ran throughout his body gave him power he had never felt before. He felt as if he could punch down a tree with just his fist!

However, this new wave of power did not prepare him for the next thing to happen.
