Chapter 4: First Training
"Alright so where should we begin? ... How bout you try and aim for that branch in that tree from far away with poison sting." She nodded then crawled about 10 feet from the tree and hit the branch. "Ok nice now back up to 15 feet and try and hit the branch preferably at the same place as before." She backed up and shot. She was able to hit it but not at the same place the previous one hit. It was about a foot off. "Ok so keep trying to hit that spot." She shot another 10 times with only 1 hitting the exact same spot.
"Ok we are going to need to work an your accuracy. Your distance is fine for now, but we will slowly get you able to shoot from further. Its important that you are able to hit the same spot over and over again. This is because the area that is already hit is weaker than the areas that haven't been hit. If you keep hitting a Pidgey's left shoulder area, it will quickly be unable to use its left wing. If you just hit the Pidgey with random shots all over its body, it can still stay in the air for longer, so you will have to hit it more to get it down." Weedle nodded.
"Ok so lets move on to string shot. Show me what you can do. Show me how far you can shoot it. Show me cool ways you can use it like swinging from branches or something." She reared up and shot silk a bit further than 10 feet from herself. She then hit a branch and launched herself towards it until she landed on top of the branch. She kept doing this at a very fast pace. She was suprisingly agile for a small bug. "Ok great job. I can tell you have worked very hard in trying to master moving with string shot." She joyfully squeeled and look like she was smiling. " Weedle!".
"Do you know any other moves?" She shakes her head and looks down. "Not even bug bite?" She looked at me then went over to a bush and bit a small branch as hard as possible. "No not just a regular bite. I mean like bite with a bug type energy." She looks at me confusingly. "Ok lets try something. Close your eyes and look inside yourself. Try to find that energy that you use when you shoot poison sting. Not the actual poison, but the energy of the poison. Tell me when you find it." She nodded and closed her eyes. After a couple of minutes she let confirmation. "Weedle. Wee."
"Ok now you know what we are trying to look for. Now try to find the energy that you use when you shoot string shot. Again, not the actual silk, but the energy used to power the move." She nodded and closed her eyes again. This time it took her barely a minute to find the energy. "Ok now that you can feel the energy try to make that energy go towards your mouth. When its there try use the energy by biting a branch." She then closed her eyes again. Her mouth started glowing a yellowish green color. When it was as bright as she could make it, she bit a branch, snapping it after a second. "Great Job girl! Now you have a strong bug type attack you can use!" She chirped happily.
"Honestly there is only one more move Weedle can learn before they evolve. That move is electroweb. The problem is you have no experience with electric energy and we do not have anyone to teach you it. So I think for now we should focus on the moves you already know. We need to make your poison sting more accurate, further range, and more powerful. We need to make your string shot more sticky, faster, and figure more ways to use it in battle other than swinging from branch to branch and covoring enemies so they can't move. For bug bite you should try to access and concentrate the energy faster and increase its power. In my opinion, control over the moves should be worked on first before the power. Power can be and will increase no matter what, but technique requires practice." Weedle nodded in agreement.
"Ok so how bout we find a Pokemon to battle. I think there is a chill Pidgey around here that might be willing to battle with you. HEY PIDGEY!! ARE YOU STILL HERE! ITS ME THE KID YOU PECKED!!" I heard a call from a tree a bit further away from us. "Pidgey."
"Hey Pidgey. I was wondering if you can have a mock battle with me and Weedle. We need some help training." Pidgey look at Weedle with a look of desire. Weedle cried and crawled behind me. Ojh yeah Pidgey eat Weedle. "Hey you are not allowed to eat Weedle. How bout after we battle, I bring you some Pokemon food and take you to the Pokemon center to get you healed up? You will get more food like than than from Weedle since Weedle is poisonous." Pidgey thought for a couple of seconds before nodding. Seeing Pidgey nod, Weedle let out a sigh of relief.
"Ok lets begin. Weedle to battle." Weedle comes out from behind me and faces Pidgey while Pidgey takes to the skies. "Start with poison sting. Try to predict where Pidgey will be when the sting hits him." Weedle unleashes a barrage of poison stings that were aim slightly ahead of her target, but Pidgey simply changed directions the moment she released them. Pidgey then dove down and hit Weedle with a tackle causing her to hit a tree trunk. I was worried because Pidgey was going back up to prepare for another tackle. Then I got an idea. "Weedle stay still. Let Pidgey get near you. Once he is close, dodge to the side by rolling or something." Weedle nodded and patiently waited for Pidgey. I was biting my nails as Pidgey got closer to Weedle. At the last second Weedle rolled to the side, causing Pidgey to run head first into the tree trunk. Weedle saw this and crawled over to me cheering. "Great job Weedle. Nice timing on the dodge. Make sure to remember to use the....."
I didn't get to finish my sentence before a Rattata came out of a bush and bit down on the knocked out Pidgey. I stood there in shock until I heard the crunch of broken bones and blood coming out of Pidgey. I puked the moment I saw the blood. "NO Pidgey!" That was when the Rattata turned to me and Weedle and hissed. I picked up Weedle and started to back away. "I think we need to run." I turned arround and ran with Weedle in my arms. The Rattata chased after us.
"Holy shit this isn't like the anime at all! I mean killing a Pidgey for food I understand, but why is it chasing me. I guess I got to be careful." I panted to myself as I ran. Rattata was slowly catching up. Then I got an idea. "Hey Rattata. If you keep chasing me someone else is going to eat your Pidgey carcass." That did the trick since Rattata immediatly headed back to where we came from.
