Chapter 39: So Close...

 <The first of seven seals on Kurukaze has been broken>

The Golden runes shimmered in front of Shiva's eyes all of a sudden.

<The skill Sword of Destruction is now available to be used>

<Kurukaze can now use the aura of the Ancient god - Erebus, the nightweaver>

As Shiva read through the messages, his eyes gleamed with excitement and his gaze fell on the sword in his hand. There was an immense force welling within Kurukaze's blade, accompanied by an aura unlike any he had encountered before – the aura of the God, Nightweaver himself.

{Don't get too excited, you fool,} Kurukaze grumbled, its voice dripping with disdain despite the fact that it had just broken one of the seals that had been weakening him for centuries.

{This is the power of an ancient god you are dealing with. One wrong move, one moment of arrogance or recklessness, and it could consume us both in an instant.} There was a hint of worry in the Sword's voice and it seemed as if it wanted to avoid something that it had already experienced once.

However, Shiva's grin only widened at the sword's warning, his cocksure bravado undeterred. "Don't worry, you rusty relic," he taunted, tightening his grip around the sword's hilt. "I plan on unleashing every ounce of this power on that overgrown lizard, whether you like it or not."

With those words, Shiva turned to face Typhon once more, the towering primordial beast that had thus far proven to be an indomitable foe. Sensing the shift in the air, the beast tensed, its innumerable eyes narrowing as if perceiving the threat that now loomed before it.

Shiva didn't waste a moment. With blinding speed, he closed the distance, Kurukaze poised to strike. As the blade made contact with Typhon's fiery scales, the beast immediately recoiled, its serpentine heads rearing back as if repelled by the mere presence of Kurukaze's edge. Where the blade's obsidian steel grazed Typhon's flesh, the fiery scales began to wither and rot, the putrid stench of decay filling the air.

For the first time since the battle began, Typhon's regenerative capabilities seemed to falter, the wounds inflicted by Kurukaze stubbornly refusing to heal.

"Not so tough anymore, huh?"

A roar of triumph tore from Shiva's lips as the realization dawned upon him.

The bane of gods, the all destroying creature and the father of all monsters, Typhon... it had none but one weakness – the power of the gods themselves!

Just as Typhon's power countered the gods, the power of the gods was also threatening to Typhon.

Besides, Typhon has been imprisoned in the depths of the tower by Zeus for a long time. He was bound, weakened, and was probably not even one percent strong as he would have been in his prime, all these facts came together to give an edge to Shiva over the infernal monster and he wasn't one to let it go.

"So close..."

Shiva murmured looking at the eyes of Typhon who now had a hint of caution when looking at him! In his past life, he had given up as soon as he laid eyes on this monster, he had instinctively known that this was not something that he could defeat. He neither had the courage nor the strength to face it in his past life. But now? Now he was so close...

"Don't get complacent, brat! The fight is not over yet.

Undaunted by the sword's taunts, Shiva ordered the corruption giant to back down and grab the attention of Typhon's serpentine heads instead of engaging in direct combat and he himself launched into a renewed offensive, his death demon sword styles augmented by the divine power now coursing through Kurukaze's blade.

"Death Demon Style, First Move – Death Pierce!"

Kurukaze surged forth, propelled by Shiva's momentum and the unholy might of the nightweaver's aura covering Kurukaze himself. The blade carved through the air, leaving a trail of inky blackness in its wake, before plunging into the heart of Typhon's defenses - his eyes!

The beast's eyes, those innumerable orbs that had gazed upon Shiva with such hatred and malice, burst like overripe fruit as Kurukaze's edge eviscerated them. Ichorous fluid sprayed outward, sizzling as it struck the ground, while Typhon let loose a deafening howl of agony that seemed to shake the very foundations of the void.

{Not bad, brat,} Kurukaze grudgingly admitted. {But don't get cocky just yet. This overgrown worm still has plenty of fight left in it.}

Indeed, even as Typhon reeled from the devastating strike, its remaining serpentine heads lashed out with renewed fury, seeking to avenge the loss of their brethren.

But Shiva was far from finished too.

"Death Demon Style, Second Move – Annihilation Sword!"

Kurukaze wove intricate patterns through the air, each stroke leaving behind a lingering afterimage of darkness that seemed to devour the very light around it. The blade danced from one serpentine neck to the next, cleaving through Typhon's defenses with an ease that belied the beast's supposed invulnerability.

Severed heads tumbled to the ground, their flesh already withering and decaying as the power of Erebus ravaged their inherent regenerative capabilities. Within the span of mere moments, Typhon's once-formidable phalanx of serpentine necks had been reduced to a collection of putrid stumps, oozing foul-smelling ichor from their ragged ends.

Shiva stood amidst the carnage, his chest heaving with exertion, but his eyes burning with a manic glee. Around him, the severed heads lay in grotesque piles, their vacant eye sockets seeming to stare back at him in wordless accusation.

{Not bad... for a brat,} Kurukaze conceded, its tone tinged with the barest hint of grudging respect. {But be careful, A cornered beast fights back fiercest.}

As if on cue, the battered form of Typhon remained, its body a patchwork of scars and festering wounds that stubbornly refused to heal. The beast's head, twisted into a demonic visage of pure malice, turned towards Shiva, its maw opening in a silent roar of defiance.

{By the way, you may want to hurry!} Kurukaze's voice rang out, its voice filled with a bit of smugness. {You just have a minute remaining to defeat the beast!}
